… This story is of a son on a mission, to regain what his father meant for him. When father died there were wrong doings, and someone got the better of the package. How will son Dye and wife manage to regain their inheritance? In his mind he is going to get this back one way or another.

Chapter 1.

… These two were off from their city to find the land that Mr. Terrance Tass had owned until his death. Son Tass with his newly married wife, are on a big adventure in hopes to become rich as Dye knew he was to be, by his inheritance. Dye has talked to many of what when wrong, but nobody knew. Thus son Dye is satisfied and thankful, his wife is willing to help him in this almost impossible endeavor.

Trip to find Dye’s land.
…They took transit to a small village called Tucknee, for Dye, does remember the place they always got ice cream, when young. But later as Dye remembers, they went through miles of forest with a few lakes to find the area family camped at, when he was a child. Our two did find crude shelter on occasion but this only made them continually search for better accommodations. They were living the posh life, so are not happy campers at this point. Dye an upstanding guy with short black hair, wandered for hours with his Wife by his side. They traveled in the direction Dye was trying to remember but they could not take a vehicle, for as Dye remembers it was unopened land with trails at best.
… Well after days they came to an area with a river, crowded by many flowering trees and shrubs. It was very rocky and this caught Dye’s attention. He remembers a bunch of large rocks by the water he used to try and catch fish in. He does not remember catching fish, but he remembers all the dragonflies. Now this water they came upon does not have many dragonflies, but the rocks were inviting, being the only dry place to rest.
… It was early spring and still chilly, but by now these two were accustomed to that. With no shelter for the last three days, they were content to scoop a bit of water into their mouths and enjoy quietly the warming sun. They made good use of those rocks especially when the sun was shining. They had no other place to sit, but on damp weedy grass.
… Then Dye saw there was an open field near. He talked quietly to Deb his wife, cause she does not like roughing it and was in a mood. He said, ‘With the ground over there being flat and dry, I think we should build a small shelter for now. I for one would wish to be warmer this evening.’ Wife Deb with her short black hair, snapped out of her mood and agreed, then looked about for food to replenish the diminished stock they had packaged.
… Slender built Deb found dandelions and chickweed and even a bundle of plantain near. They both gathered the leaves up and filled their basket again. Then while Deb meticulously washed greens in their small river near, Dye went about and with a small hand axe, downed three thin trees and proceeded to chop branches and split trunks. He thought, a few more and we will have a Teepee type shelter.
… He then looked about among the bushes and found a large rock. With that he smacked several long trunk slivers into the ground within a circle and made sure they were at a slant so to meet somewhat at their peaks.
… As his wife was coming back with a basket full of washed goodies, he called her. ‘Please Deb Dear, ‘take off your leather designer jacket,’ as he did the same. They hung them carefully, over peak of Teepee and now have some instant shelter. As they sat cozy in this small, sheltered space looking around their area, Dye said ‘We have that small tarp too and will add it to the roof when night falls.’ They were both wishing night would fall at that moment, for were both very tired.
… After a short quiet sit, their minds went to food. With washed greens in some paper, Dye and Deb walked a few yards to sit on the warming rocks for a second time, as they watched the river and ate their first meal of these three days. Dye commented, ‘We could probably get some fish from here.’ Deb smiled and agreed, ‘Boy, that would be a nice change.’ Before this they had an apple from a tree or plant pulled from the ground. No water in sight and forget of a plate. Not anything, like what they are used to.

Settling In.
… In the first days here, Deb took pride in planting some seeds brought from their homeland. Thus, in the next week they also put planter like constructions around newly growing seedlings to protect from the cool wind. At least these two have brains between them. Food is of major concern especially when first entering an unsettled area.
… Now after they finished the garden they went and sat by the Teepee, as thinking of their situation. Dye is sure this is his father’s land, but he cannot figure why it has not been built upon. He thought, whichever relative nabbed this gold mine, you would think they would take care of it! He then commented to Deb, ‘Well that’s better for us. We will take care of it for them, if ‘them’ ever come here!’
… Then he started thinking of the bad things that may have happened here, like wild animals that could have eaten the people up. Or maybe the plagues that killed them all. He got into a stew till his wife Deb came back from the bushes she had to go to, and asked Dye if he was still hungry. That snapped Dye out of his dilemma as he thought, well we will not starve with my wife here.
… Things were going OK and with getting a bit of money from jobs, of delivering flyers this past week, they added a proper looking wall right beside Teepee. They are comforted now without the cold wind but lately they have not seen anyone around! This is boring you bet, but their veggies are growing well, and they could sell the Extras in the local farmyard Food Shop near.
… On this night, Dye waited for wife Deb to come home from her route, so to chat of plans, but she was so tired after her work, she went straight to bed. Maybe tomorrow is a better time, thought Dye. We will see what happens.

Chapter 2.

Poisoned in the Desert?
… Well, tomorrow did not come! They woke from their sleep to find themselves lying on a sandy patch, with much gravel and wild messy looking grasses. They startled awake to find they were not on their lot and there was no shelter to go to. They looked at each and grasped the other in fear.
… What has just happened? Deb asked, ‘Was that all a dream? Those plants were so real. Were they not? And I painted a few good pictures. I was getting good over the few weeks we settled there.’ Then she gasped and choked out, ‘Where was there?’
… As she stopped rattling off at the mouth, in fear mostly, she turned to Dye who had such a shocked look on his face, that Deb burst into tears and hugged him all the harder. They consoled each for several minutes then gingerly got on their feet and glanced about.
… It was like they were taken out of area they had settled on and placed in a barren land. There were no buildings in sight and the land was very dry like desert. Until now they have only seen pictures of what a desert looked like, but now they could feel what a desert was like. Like wife left the oven door open, which she forgot to close. Well, they did have their jackets on and the basket of greens was near them.
… Dye and Deb calmed down and decided to sit and think while ducked under their jackets. After a while Dye questioned, ‘Did someone drug us and drop us here? Maybe the persons who took my dad’s land have spies, and they took us from that land.’ Deb was bewildered, and uttered in a gasping voice, ‘I have no idea. Who would do such a thing? We better mind our lives! What should we do … stay here?’
… Dye stated, ‘No! I say we get more people into that area and protect ourselves. If it is a night game they play, someone will stay awake as a guard.’ Deb commented ‘Well dear, maybe we should leave well enough alone. It could have been worse!’ This made Dye turn his head quickly as Deb commented, ‘like poisoning.’ Their eyes met again, and they were in horror. Then in unison they agreed, ‘We do not wish that…No we don’t!’
… They looked about for shelter from the hot sun but none to be seen. Then Dye was getting on the defensive. ‘No … there were no trespassing signs and we improved that property, wherever it is.
… Dye went on with, ‘That is against the law. It is open land too. If I ever find out where that area was, I will take them to court. We should go to nearest town and talk to a lawyer.’ Deb stated, ‘Now you’re talking. Let’s find out our rights and then settle again but this time take others with us. But before that, Sign papers with lawyers observing.’ ‘Yes’ answered Dye, ‘we will take our basket of greens and start searching for inhabitants. Somebody must live near.’ ‘Ok’ agreed Deb. She walked back a few feet to the basket and announced, ‘I got the basket, lets go!’ Dye smiled at wife in agreement and off they wandered searching the horizon for any type of building.

Stumbled onto an Oasis?
… Well, our two traveled, in this dusty hot desert for a few hours but thirst got to them. Suddenly they were in alarm. They had greens and most were gone but when coming to the sandy mountainous terrain, water was in their mind utmost. They wandered about the base of towering mountain slopes and just around a corner, caught sight of a river, or that is what Deb thought. Dye commented, ‘It could be a mirage or maybe even a figment from thirst itself.’ Deb uttered ‘No, there it is there!’ Dye continued wandering and stumbling about as Deb followed as close behind as her feet would take her.
… Well, after a few yards Dye heard water so made a bee line towards it. Sure enough, it was a small trickle in the now, very hot dry desert, at mid day. As they both stumbled with Deb falling a foot away from the oasis, they managed to get a drink of warm murky water, but it was water and oh how beautiful it tasted. Sweet!?
… Thus, they sat at water’s edge, which was about a foot across only, but there were many bugs there. Obviously, this was the only water for miles and not much of a river at that. Dye figured within another week or so, there would not be a river here! He turned his head to Deb, as she uttered his thoughts exactly, ‘So much for staying here!’
… Then they both giggled as the water started to work it’s wonders within their bodies. Then giddiness came over them both and they jumped up and were tasseling and chasing each other in fun. After a few more minutes they came together and whispered, ‘Come on, let’s leave this desert for better land.’ In the back of Dye’s mind, he thought, if this be his father’s land, it is no wonder nobody came to build, and I do not think it wise to stay here, especially in summer.

… As this day went on, they came upon this fellow wandering, much like what they had been doing. Dye asked ‘Where are you going?’ This guy in gray answered saying, ‘I lived where land was green, and much water was flowing. Then suddenly in mid day I awoke from a strange sleep on the sandy desert floor.’ He introduced himself saying, ‘I am Walley, Can you help me? I am thirsty and feel faint.’
… Well Dye and Deb expounded their situation also. They all three thought and thought. Dye stated ‘We have to find out, why they left us here! We must find someone here to speak to. Come on!’ Walley hesitated saying ‘But I am too thirsty.’ Deb had packed a bit of that sweet water before leaving the stream, so Walley got it.
… After a while they found a tall bush and parked under to cool off. As looking about there was a structure in the distance. Deb shrieked, ‘There, come let’s go there now. I’m too hot and dizzy.’ ‘Yes, at least that is shelter from this hot wind.’ replied Dye. Walley uttered nothing but was up on his feet in a flash. At last a lead from their dilemma.

The Blundering.
… They came to a structure which turned out to be a very small home. Dye went ahead and knocked the door and was welcomed in to have a drink. He joked about for a minute then discussed what was happening. Chuck, who Dye was talking to, also commented on seeing strange things in area. Chuck went to make some food for this stranger as Dye ushered the other two in. When Chuck saw, there were in fact three people here, he paused and stared. That is when Dye offered to make a meal, but he blundered twice and got food all over the place. Thus chuck asked them to leave.
… How disappointing! Well they got a bit of info. Apparently it was, to paint a good picture of this land they come from in the suburbs. Was Chuck trying to get them to go home to where they were? Our people got outside and stood there a bit bewildered at what just happened. It was their only lead gone bad. Deb uttered ‘Nice going Dye.’
… Well Dye did not like that, but inside Chuck Dales was thinking, Well at lease he offered to help. Dales glanced out window and saw the visitors still hanging about. He opened the door and commented on what they were looking at.
… They saw another structure across this distant foot path, shrouded in tall grasses. Chuck announced, ‘Yes that place has intrigued me too, of what I can see. Sometimes I see some odd things happening there, but most of time nobody is home. Come I was waiting for an opportunity to investigate that place. Come with me, please.’

A Desert Campground?
… They crossed a grassy path as Chuck was explaining more of the incidences. He agreed that there are some weird happenings here and continued to ask Dye if he likes spy stuff. Well this prompted a good chat.
… When they got to this other structure, they went into back to explore area. Debra shrieked, ‘Look Water!’ And there was a proper river tucked down in its own valley. Dye got there first and he suddenly stopped for saw remnants of camping in the bushes near. As the others came, he stated, ‘We need to go down to river’s edge just over here. Maybe someone is finding gold in the waters. Deb was not listening but stood quiet marveling at the water. She snapped out of it when the others wandered three yards from her.
… Deb caught up as they went another few feet. They all paused at the back door which had a light on above, but they still felt place was empty. They went to another corner, near the bushes where Dye saw the camping evidence. They discussed, ‘Why would someone camp here when there is a house two yards away!’ This puzzled them but then Deb commented, ‘Maybe they do not belong here and are just trespassing. Maybe the home is not lived in.’ ‘Mmm… could be!’ replied Chuck.
… Sure enough, upon closer look there was an alcove in the rocks. There looked to be two chairs there, with a pole sunk into a stone to hold a table or maybe an umbrella of a large type. Dye was standing beside Chuck as all were quietly looking at the bushes. They looked to be right up against the face of a mountain, so our people did not look further.
… At that point, Walley came back into group but made no comment. Walley is not one who speaks up much. (Apparently, he had ventured a bit further around mountain slope and the smell in the air was not good, so he came away.) Dye turned his head and asked, ‘Well Dales, what do you think this is all about?’ Chuck answered, ‘I have no idea, but I think I wish to go home now.’
… Chuck went on saying, ‘I know there is a cop in area, but I do not know exact location. These areas are not well inhabited, so if there is a problem you are pretty much on your own. Now with your place, it sounds as if there are people there. But they may wish to own the whole bunch of land. Do you know how it works in far off lands?’ Dye and Deb came closer and Deb said, ‘No.’
… Dales went on with, ‘Well the land belongs to the governing peoples, first. Then others come along and must pay to proclaim pieces of the government land. So, if one wishes to own an area, what they could do is discourage visitors from coming. This bides time and money to buy land themselves. I believe this is what you are up against. I have seen this before in an area that is nearer my homeland.’
… Dye stated ‘Yes but the land we settled in, was I’m quite sure my dad’s. But I did not get it in my inheritance, for other relatives stole it and its title from me. I was not even grownup, so did not know anything.’
… Chuck answered ‘Oh well that is another matter. You need to go to government offices near you if you have any. They are to keep all records of land from the time they start to run it.’
… Chuck continued with ‘Well I am going home now. I wish you luck in finding your foes. I would not stay here much longer either, for it feels spooky at times!’ ‘Yes’ agreed Deb, ‘Come on Dye lets get out of here.’ Thus they left Chuck’s and asked Wally if he wished to stay with them that night.

Chapter 3.

Scrimmages in The Grasses.
… As traveling home, the three did discuss it further and since they were able to flag a vehicle, they asked the driver to take them back to their land. Well Driver went close to a small town, but he backtracked and did get them near their land. Our two were stunned that this driver knew the area they were staying, for they were totally lost. He commented that, ‘Someone does not wish that nice land disturbed.’ Dye thought, But how can it be a nice manicured area without someone living there? That is the question. Then the cab driver who was silent, dropped them off at end of road as if nothing happened.
… While walking home, they observed in the backyard that their plants were dying for water, But there were also scrimmages in the grasses and even holes dug up in the garden area. This concerned them so they went there to see what they could find. Upon seeing that the digging went further than what they could see, Dye asked, ‘Could you bring me that shovel Deb, please.’ ‘Sure’ and Deb went to the cupboard door on outside of house where they leave the small tools for gardening. As she passed the one side window, Deb glanced in but saw their belongings were there, nothing seemed to be moved that she could remember.
… As she got back to Dye, she commented on what she saw and Dye replied ‘Good,’ But they were sure wishing to find something here. The comments were, ‘Maybe another time we will find government buildings if there are any. Then we can buy this land outright, with proper papers and signatures.’ ‘Yes’ uttered Deb, ‘that would be a good step.’ Dye then stated ‘This is probably the doings of that Revenge guy Walley talks of. I will phone others tomorrow. Maybe Chuck will help me and we can talk to this Revenge guy.’ Then Dye commented, ‘That is a strange name. Maybe a pet name from the people who live in area. This guy must do things out of Revenge.’ Deb uttered ‘Ha, I guess. ‘

Hard Nosed Hit Man.
… Next day after talking things over with Walley, Dye phones Chuck Dales to help find and talk to the strange camping guy. Dye felt that this stranger may be the one who did them wrong.’ But Chuck’s answer was, ‘No thanks. He looks too scary. I will pass for now. Let me know what he says.’ ‘Oh alright.’ replied Dye.’ I’m not sure if I wish to go it alone.’ Chuck commented, ‘Well you know where I live. Just run if in trouble, and I will wait for you. What time?’ Dye answered, ‘Oh sometime in the afternoon. Thanks.’
… Well Dye asked his wife to come but Deb stayed at home this time. She was not feeling well, or that is what she said, so Dye asked Walley to go. After an hour of travel Walley and Dye came to the dwelling with the camping evidence. They could see the back light was not on so they were very cautious. Dye knocked the door and heard one coming. He commented ‘This time he must be home.’ Walley was nervous of this person who he had met before, so Walley wandered off before Dye was greeted by this stranger.
… Well Dye was invited in but after just a few minutes of discussion Dye found this one was hardnosed. They came to an uproar, but the guy stated, ‘I am a hit man and if you do not leave this premise, I will hit you too. How’s that for ya?’ Dye answered ‘You Are A Hit man. Well sir would you like a job.’ ‘Oh’ replied Revenge. Dye commented, ‘Well do not kill them. I want to know who it was that drugged my wife and I, then left us out in this area to die. We live in a well-managed suburb near the city and we ended up in the desert here.’ ‘Interesting,’ answered Revenge. ‘Well, I will certainly investigate this nice bit of mayhem. Now please leave and give me some thinking room.’
… Dye stated ‘Oh yes sorry sir. Please call me if something comes up.’ ‘Yea-Yea, now go!’ was response, So Dye left this grumpy mysterious and dangerous looking guy in his dimly lit shack. Dye was thankful to get out.
… Well, when Dye got out to the path, there was Deb. She felt bad to leave him and became concerned. She had just arrived and as soon as they spoke of situation, they both agreed to get out of the heat, so wandered over to Chuck’s place just across the path.
… Deb knocked the door and went in first. She told Chuck that they need his help since he lived so close to the person who was going to take care of the bad people, Or they hoped. But Chuck was alarmed. ‘I do not wish to get involved.’
… At that point, Dye came in and sat down pleading with him and telling ‘Chuck more of the story. Then suddenly Chuck stated, ‘My parents were shot by burglars that robbed us when I was a child. I do not wish to experience that again. If there are guns involved, I will flee regardless of what if going on, OK?’
(This will be why Chuck has such a Jovial attitude towards life. He does not wish to remember his past.)

Back Home.
… Well, our two of Tass group traveled home and just sat silently. You could see the concern on their faces, for who knows what will happen. After a while of relaxation, they noted that some furnishings were missing from this their hut. Dye commented ‘oh, that nice small wooden table from my dad is missing, along with all of your jewelry, and the silverware you had packed! Dye went quiet, then he uttered ’I wonder if it is the same people who took us away last week.’ He then turned and questioned, ‘Maybe we should live in the desert dear? You know that spooky guy offered me a job. He has a multi-leveled business somewhere. He never gave me an address or the name of his company, but I can phone and find that out soon enough.’
… Dye sat up and turned to Deb. He was uncertain and asked, ‘Do you think that be a good idea?’ Deb was not sure herself, but replied ‘Well, go back to your job here and see what happens. Then take it from there. We won’t destroy our bridges, before we see ‘If’, they are actually burning Dear.’

… As they were having dinner that night, Deb asked Dye how she could look better. He answered, ‘Well it is fear that makes you look dim. Wait till this property stuff is settled and we will all look and feel better.’ Shortly after that they headed to bed and plan to go to their work in morning.
… Morning was better, and Deb told Dye, ‘I will plant another garden like what they had.’ ‘Good’ agreed Dye. Then after a bit of silence Deb announced, ‘I just got a call this morning and they told me to travel and find another job. Deb glanced at Dye and stated, I’m sorry Dear, I guess I lost my job, and I did enjoy that. I will stay home and plant today.’ ‘Sure, that will make up for some we lost’. Dye went on with, ‘Also dear, fish around and watch who you can. Make judgment on who they are. Like man, put on your spy glasses. (Chuckle-Chuckle!)
… Then Deb was talking of cops saying, “And if they don’t come through, we will be roughing it for the rest of our lives!’ Dye replied, ‘No if that is the outcome, we will spend all we have and take a plane back to our homeland.’ Well, that last comment seemed to have settled things and they glanced at each and smiled.

… It is late spring into summer and the birds were singing with great gusto, young and old alike. Deb did get seeds but also went to a wild patch of various plants she had seen, several yards away. There to her surprise she got some wild carrots and chives in full bloom. She merrily picked some for dinner but as She came home, visitors had come and a young man among them talked of painting. That was Debs cup of tea, so he stayed to chat.
… He talked of the one or two cops in area and how they do not do a good job. Too lax! This guy Travis, talked of how his place was robbed three times last week, but Travis stated, ‘The cops came and looked about then left saying, there is no true evidence. But maybe that was better. You were only robbed once, you say?’ ‘Yes.’ spoke Deb, ‘there are some bad people around, so I guess one needed our wares.’ They talked a bit longer than Travis had to go.
… After Travis left, Deb was pleased. She did get to know the neighbors as Dye asked her to. Deb thought, yes, I have not seen any cops. They should be wandering about often with nobody here. Then she wondered how good the governing system was in this area. She thought, these are things we have not discussed, I must talk to Dye when he gets home later.

Chapter 4.

The Explorer Team.
… This is a group of young kids just out of school, wishing to live elsewhere rather than home. Being greenwood, they didn’t know what they wished in life. With no money they had decided to live under same roof. It worked out and they got many smarts with their jobs. Then they started getting in each others way and decided to move on own. But recently they came together again to meet with the one staying in their original shelter, right near Dye’s new lot.

… The Explorers were milling about outside their lot, when one commented on the new home in area. Tass team had moved into shack near them and were building onto original shelter there. Patrick of the Explorers team, being the loner of this group, noticed this new group the other day.
… Now it was early morn, but these young men are up and about most of times. Well Patrick enjoys meeting people, so on this day he asked his group to go with him to visit these newcomers. Thus several went next door.
… Well this morning Dye and Deb were met by the Explorer Team. They found out it was a team of young lads just out of school and looking for life’s treasures. Now Tass family of Dye and Deb were still in night wear, and this scuttled them both, but they let the young men in just the same. Some of the young men were not as interested so left soon after, but others talked and got to know Tass group a bit.
… The young Red-headed Jason went right over and sat on couch where Dye was, and Dye talked of disappearing articles. He discussed their experience of finding themselves out in a desert with nothing but the clothes on their back and a basket of food beside them. He also commented, ‘The people who did that did not wish us harm, but it was like as warning. My wife and I did nothing wrong. That is why we moved here.’ Jason uttered, ‘That is very unsettling. That would get my dander up also. Did you talk to the law enforcement here?’ Dye replied ‘Yes but did not get far. They are too lazy.’
… The group had a short visit then left Tass family to start their day. But another time Dye came over to the Explorers and told of being robbed again. When he came to Explorer’s door Ted let Dye and wife in and they sat them at a table and fed them what was for dinner. Ted felt he had to help, for Tass group was at ropes end. There were many good gossips and some joke telling and Tass group was sent home feeling better.

Tougher Times.
… Now, some of the Explorer had left this area for a few months, to try out other living environments, but now that they have returned, there are troubles finding jobs. This place was not well populated but sometimes there were many jobs. If you do not get their first, you are out of luck.
… Most heard that Dye has met a guy in another area who had a business, but nobody wished to ask him of this, for Dye has said in past that the guy kind of scares him, for has a very spooky manner. Thus, some of this group has phoned to their families and got help but others are stuck.
… This set the pace for their next visit. In fact, it came about cause Travis, the young lad Dye’s wife was talking to a month ago, came and visited the Explorers to chat things out. When Denis heard of Travis’s problems he stated ‘Come with me, there is a couple that have been having same problem and maybe if you chat you could figure what to do. We ourselves have not had troubles here. That is strange hey!’
… So Denis and several others made their way to Dye’s property and introduced Travis to them. As they were introducing all, Deb remembered Travis, for like her Travis was into art. Thus All was jovial and happy to talk of general problems. A consoling for all there, cause at this point, nobody could figure what to do about these strange situations happening to them all. Dye and Deb agreed and talked of being transported to far away and of how they wandered the desert.
… Later when Dye and Deb followed the Explorers to their home, they all saw that someone had ransacked the Explorer’s home much like what had happened to Deb and Dye’s home. They also found the other Explorers were missing. (Ted, Bud, and Frank) Chuck who was with them announced, ‘It must be Revenge’s doings, and I live beside him! I do not wish to go back there now.’ Patrick replied ‘Yes, go there for us. You can be our eyes. Spy on him and tell us what he is doing. If something happens come to us for protection.’
… Dye stated, ‘We need to get security involved here. I will go to the city near us and talk with anyone there or maybe with luck, government. I hope they are on the level for we need help. Why would they ransack a place unless they were looking for something?’
… Well, Deb and Dye did travel closer toward the city of their area and what a surprise! Dye with wife found it was the area that they first settled on. In excitement Dye uttered ‘Oh homeland security.’ They were elated and were able to phone a lawyer to help all the others.

The Fight.
… Dye and Debra momentarily got off their track for were able to find their old original area and settle in again. They felt more secure with finding a good lawyer, But with all the commotion of losing jobs and having to move without taking their possessions they are very poor. So poor that they tend to hang out in park area hoping someone will be barbecuing so they can eat. Deb is doing well in garden but at times it just isn’t enough.
… At one time they saw the Explorer named Jason, wandering through the park. They could not catch up with him for saw him in the distance. But Deb was sure it was him. Was he here speaking to a lawyer? Maybe he was hiding out? Deb did not know but saw that he was behaving mysteriously just the same. Maybe he was snooping or following someone.
… Dye then suggested that maybe he was one of the bad people. ‘We do not know these folks dear. Most young lads are able to do wrong.
When I find who is in the wrong, I will kill them myself if I can.’ Deb blurted out ‘No dear, you do not want to be a wanted felony. You went through that before and told me you had stopped doing that. Now I will tolerate some spying for I like that too but if you start behaving as you did, well I will leave you. So please, we have too many good memories now, and I do love you Dye. Please.’ ‘Yes,’ agreed Dye ‘but it irks me for I did nothing to these people and yet they are doing wrong to me. It does not make sense.’ Deb commented, ‘Well maybe it is payback time.’ Dye raised his voice and sternly replied, ‘I do not believe that now hush up! That is enough from you.’ ‘OK, but I’m warning you!’ replied Deb. The subject was closed, and time passed with difficulty.
… Dye got a new job of spying but was late a few times for slept in. Now his job is on the line again. This is bad. He is going to see his boss and asked Debra to come as well. He has not met his boss yet but he will be on his best behavior. He was given an address and to his bewilderment, it was in the desert near where they just ran from a few months back.

… Dye did phone a taxi who knew where the desert was, but when driver got to Dye’s area he stated, ‘The desert has few roads and I do not wish my car dusted up.’ So when it came time, he dropped them off and Dye paid him half. Amazing enough the driver accepted that.
… So as Deb and Dye went on, all they had was an address to go by. Furthermore, those mountains the two remember from their first trip to the desert, were nowhere in sight, and to boot, nobody seems to know where anything was in that desert. Good thing our two had packed water and food.
… After a time Dye and Deb saw a bigger bush in distance and both knew they had to go there to get shade. As they walked there to discuss what to do, they had already decided what to do before bush came to them. They agreed that the sure thing to find would be the rivers. If they found a river they needed to follow it as far as they could. Surely then, they could find this address which said it was on River Road. Deb replied, ‘Well even if we find that stream, maybe it will still be there for it’s spring here again.’

A Mode of Travel.
… They wandered for an hour and came to a path, like a road. They stopped on edge to eat a bit of watermelon. While sitting there they heard a rumbling, which was getting louder within the quietness, so they perked up and waited as the spot on the horizon got larger. It was indeed a vehicle like a pickup truck.
… They got up when it came nearer although they wondered if it would stop. Yes it was a white truck, although dusty with dark mud about the wheels, but it did stop as they waved their arms at it.
… Well the guy was as dusty as his truck but had a big smile on a very sun-burnt face. Before Dye could ask him where the address was and if close, he uttered ‘What the heck are you doing out here? This is a desert, do you live here?’ He probably asked that for these two were lily-white, as often stayed huddled indoors.
… Dye smiled and showed him the address that was on this paper. The guy raised his eyebrows and asked, ‘Is this where you are going?’ ‘Yes’ answered Deb. The guy asked ‘Are you sure? I can take you close, but if I were you I would stay away from there. Many people disappear from the desert and a group of people who used to live here, eventually went missing. I feel it was cause they knew too much. That is what many of us have said and thought.’
… Dye was putting one and one together and asked, ‘Is this the person most talk of as Revenge?’ The old, weathered person smiled and asked, ‘Oh, you know him hey.’ His face changed and he looked down saying, ‘Oh I’m sorry, yes, I will give you a ride near there. Hop in.’
… Dye quickly turned to Deb then asked the guy ‘Do you know who he works for?’ The driver unlocked the door and ushered them into a cramped small space in back of truck. Driver answered, ‘Well none are sure but probably the dictator in that distant city many hear of. But sir, I would be very careful, for many have disappeared. He will come to your door soon enough, if you live in area. Most do not go near the area you wish to go.’
… So on the way to their destination they talked of other things to do with the wayward people in the big city and what Revenges job could be. The weathered driver was nervous and kept looking in rear mirror. He commented ‘And we believe Revenge is to keep this area all secure. Revenge has told persons that they are to stay away or he promises the outcome will not be pleasant.’
… Dye uttered ‘I will have a long talk with them to find out what is going on.’ Deb was too fearful and just listened. Dye had no idea he was actually working for this guy Revenge. He thought he may work in the distant city. That has a better future in Dye’s mind.

… Well, the old dusty man dropped them off near river and pointed direction they should go. So off they went traveling in that hot sun again. When they got near their destination, they found some shade and stayed down, watching area for a while. There was no timing that was specified as to when Dye’s meeting was, so they were cautious and waited a bit.
… Well Deb and Dye found strangers coming to Revenge’s place regularly. Not so much to the actual home but to that camping sight which seemed to be a main waiting area. Chuck who often watches out windows, saw what looked like Dye in grasses near his home, So he cautiously came out to meet them. They all huddled in tall grass and bush as Deb and Dye talked of the strangers describing them and their clothing. Chuck questioned of these strangers for he had not seen these before. Well, it turned out that Chuck spies later day and on into the night. As most, he has a job in early day, although it is sporadic at times.
… In the day Chuck would see people going to the bushes near the rocks, at the base of the mountains there. He would think, What is among those bushes and rocks that this spooky guy was seen among many times! Now with Deb and Dye’s sightings Chuck understands better. Dye also talked of what the taxi driver told of and wondered if this was where the people were disappearing to.
… Our group went closer and observed where Revenge’s group went and what they were doing. With this some had reports to take back to their lawyers. But just as they were heading back, there was seen in the distance, an army of men in plain clothing. Our people knew what was happening through Revenge who hollered at them, ‘Go out and rob or ransack places giving others trouble. We must not have people settling here for to long.’ It was also heard, Their main activity center where they met daily was in a city far away. With this info our group wondered, were they working for Revenge or the big city? Our group all ended up back at Chucks place and talked of plans.
… While observing Revenge’s area they discussed about the troop of guards our people saw. Then one of the team remembered seeing a similar dressed person back in suburbs. With that they were set to go put them into custody when Patrick stated ‘No, the company will only re-employ others to take their places. This is a large company, and we have little sway. We must find something to incriminate them all. Then it will put a stop to the hoodlums. Then one commented, The Explorers have a couple of persons who are into spying field. Well between them, they decided to go to work for these crooks and know what the plans were and how they filtrated.

… In a few days Dye was able to talked to lawyer of the transporting’s of several people they knew and of the disappearances of many articles regularly from various homes. Lawyer Priene agreed, ‘Yes I will help but I will maintain my office here. You will have to travel to me to sign papers.’ That’s OK with our two.
… This lawyer wants to keep his office near the larger city for has more work there. But his curiosity lured him to our groups, for he knows there are several people in this valley that are wanted men, and if he could get his clutches on even one, it would be a plus for him.

Chapter 5.

Double Crossed.
So some of the Explorer group went to the bigger city near them just to look about.
… They found that the traffic moves so fast, the gold they were told of could hardly be seen. I guess its for prestige. The roads are not paved with gold but there are multi-colored bricks in patterns and fencing of gold. There are tolls over all bridges which are built with gold also. The tunnels under the many man-made rivers are plain white with ample lighting. The tall buildings mainly of glass, mirrors the landscapes about. So with each being various colors and shapes of glass its quite spectacular. It’s like a sunset all year around.
… They had heard much of this big city so wished to take a tour. While there, they talked to another and heard that, There were many people steeling in area, so an insurance company has recently come in, claiming to protect clients from pilfering.
… One of explorers Jason, volunteered to move in and get job with said company. For This new company not only advertised for people to take their insurance, but also available jobs.
… Later as Jason got settled in this company he noted one of the Explorers was not paying their monthly payments. Thus when visited original home, Jason asked this one of his group, ‘How come you are not paying for your insurance?’ ‘I am!’ uttered Denis But…’ ‘Well, Jason butted in saying, ‘I will go to company and ask.’ He replied thus for did not believe Denis to be dishonest.
… Thus that week Jason did ask his higher ups at work and got a meeting. The company showed Jason the legal documents which were signed by several.
… Jason became confused, for knows friend as honest. So he decides to do some investigating himself. As days went on level-headed Jason found the right time to snoop, as he had to work later one evening. He went into company programs, of which he had seen the Icon of before, in his computer. He came across and option code editing area. He was amazed that there were no protective stops and he could get in right away. He wondered if it was a trap but put that aside. He wants to know and help the others.
… He found there was a repossess code and if you include it in a name of a client, a group goes one night and takes furniture away from this client’s home. This was not too hard in the case of Jason’s friend, for the company knows when they work. This is stipulated in order forms asking what their job is and when each person works. It was set up even before they paid for insurance! As Jason was exploring program further, he also found that if you disable repossess button, the name is cleared as if nothing happened. So young Jason went home that evening and talked to friend saying, ‘Its a set up.’

… As discussing this among the Explorer group, they figured on a plan. Several Explorers will get jobs in this company through the months and volunteer to become ones who repossess. They will use their original last name to keep suspicion down. When they all got jobs there, altering their timing, they had another meeting and Jason stated, ‘OK I will set the top three people of the company to be repossessed. The others did not think it would work, for most would know the top people.
… Jason has his ways though, for you don’t work for a underhanded company without them testing you for smarts. He set the three up as new clients and altered the names by a letter. Thus, in three days they were all repossessed illegally, by the very laws they set in motion. Our kids did not get caught, for there were older workers there who were asked what happened.
… Of course, the older personnel did not know a thing and the lead-hands were not going to waste any more time on the incident. Their jobs and money depended upon how many people they could hoodwink into signing up for insurance. Besides the owners did not realize they had been robbed till later, for these heads of company live in mansions. A piece of furniture here or there, was not going to be missed for a week or two. Thus their furnishings were thrown on the trash pile like all the rest.
…After a few months it happened all over again, but not by our group. Cameras were painted over and the dogs were sedated with drug laden goodies. Apparently, once programmed into company it cycles. Well if a crook got away with something they would try again.

… Now Jason would bring all news back to his group. thus they would talk. Questions are, Who is at the bottom of these capers? Was it Revenge or another weirdo. Some in the group thought, no! Revenge is too quiet to have a large operation, as this is turning out to be.
… Another thought and stated, ‘One of these times there will be a war and Revenge among others will be killed without knowing it, cause they all wear masks and nobody knows who these persons are. This makes it difficult to point a finger at anyone, even when you have met and talked to the same.’ Some had talked to lawyer but to go forward, have to have absolute proof.
… Well Jason changed jobs and things settled down again with life assumed to norm, but many prepared themselves for what may be troubled times ahead. These strange happenings were on most minds. Oh yes, they kept living their lives, but cautiously.

Curious Happenings.
… After seeing Jason wandering through park the other day, Deb went home and talked to Dye wondering why Jason was there. Dye queried, ‘Well maybe he is seeking a lawyer like we were.’ That was end of conversation.
… So now we will catch up and follow Jason to end up at Explorer’s door. As Jason gets home he finds others out front obviously having a meeting. Jason told Garr of meeting Debra, ‘As I was on my way to your lawyers to keep my appointment, I had to stop for lunch in the park.’ Garr being a strong parental type person, uttered ‘Oh what did you buy?’ ‘No-No’ uttered Jason, ‘I packed a lunch. You remember, after us being robbed the other day, do you think I would rob us again and buy outside food?’ ‘Yes Sorry, continue please.’
…Jason replied, ‘Yes well I caught sight of Dye’s wife Deb, was that her name?’ ‘Yes, I believe so’ commented Denis standing beside them. Jason continued, ‘Well Deb seemed stunned at seeing me and I was very curious as well, to see her. She was eating food from people that were having a barbecue in the park. It must have been friends, for they are well off. Or I thought! He has a high paying job the last I remember. But just the same, I do not trust them much. If others are right in saying Dye is a killer, I would just as well not be chummy with neither of them. But I would not wish harm to them, so I ask you what should be done.’ Garr agreed as they turned to the rest standing about chatting.
… As they turned Garr saw Patrick was almost mad that they were asking him to go on another trip. He commented, ‘Well I think someone should stay here for we may be robbed worse next time. The home front is important, and I hope all of you left your lots with doors locked.’ Denis questioned, ‘Well I’m not sure if I wish to go either, after all I have heard stories from others, and I do not feel too safe travelling. But if it may help us, yes, I will tag along.’ Garr smiled as Jason uttered, ‘Good lad.’ Jason turned to others for their input.
… Well, Ted and Budd rolled their eyes as bowing their heads and Frank was very still. So, these three wished to stay at home obviously. So Jason went over to Patrick and joked a minute then turned to Ted. Ted stated, ‘Yes if he is a killer as someone informed me, I do not wish to get involved neither. Besides, I thought the Tass were going closer to town to find themselves a lawyer, and as Jason has, I’m sure they were successful. I say leave things be.’
With all having their say, Garr then stated, ‘So I along with Denis and Jason will be going on another Journey. The rest of you go to work for we need money desperately, Thanks. We will be on our way tomorrow early.’

Trip Out.
… So early next day the three of Garr in his logo blue-gene jacket, Jason in his pastel colors and Denis in his checked shirt, ventured out to their near center. They came to where Jason saw Deb and they wandered about the beautiful trees there, but today they did not see Deb or Dye. Jason remembered where he saw Deb heading and led the way, but what they found was a half house.
… Well as they knocked the door they were alarmed, for most of the walls were missing and there was only one bed and one chair. Garr thought then commented, ‘Maybe they split up.’ Denis said, ‘Maybe he killed her, if he is to be a killer.’ Jason replied ‘No, do not be silly. He would not do that with the several people that live near here. If he just did that, he would be on-the-lam, for a few days at least.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Garr, as looking up at the roof making sure they at least had some shelter. Then he stipulated, ‘I will choose a more positive scenario. (that is Denis for you, happy optimistic but with concern underneath.)
… Well, none of them saw that Deb was at home, out in the side of yard. She remembered these young lads but was mad that they just walked into Deb’s so-called home. She was also a bit embarrassed cause of the sight of the home. The Tass were to be rich but the last few months have fixed that. They haven’t a penny to their name. At this point, she waits Dyes return from his two-bit job hoping to buy another bed. She was stunned and did not know if to talk to the visitors, for does not know these people well. For all she knew they were the ones robbing them. Who knows? Not her.
… Well, she was making moves to hide from them, went Denis, who was still out on front porch, heard her and turned. He called ‘Oh guys, she is outside here.’ Well all turned, and Deb felt her embarrassment upon her face. She greeted them saying ‘Hi there, what brings you people here? Then she remembered, ‘Oh I saw you in our park the other day Jason.’ ‘Yes’ was answered. ‘I had an appointment with my lawyer Salen.’ Deb continued, ‘Oh that is what Dye said to me when I got home. Good for you. Well is all right there?’ ‘Jason questioned ‘Yes, I think we got the right guy. We are just waiting their investigations. Have you had any troubles here?’
… Deb paused a minute and realized No, its their lack of funds that she is buried with at this point. She picked up a bit and answered, ‘No all has been good so far. Just that first month or so. Maybe that was the initiation into this land?’ And she smiled. Jason asked, ‘Can we give you some money to tide you over the next week?’ ‘Oh, I’m not sure, I would have to talk to Dye.’ ‘Well no need’ replied Garr, ‘here is 50 for you. Take it in good cheer. We must be on our way. Dye still has his job?’ Deb quietly commented, ‘Well no. They let him go cause was late. But there was something else. He is travelling tomorrow back to the desert where his boss lives. Is that incredible!’ ‘Oh, well does he wish to have company?’
… Now Deb did not wish to go but she had told Dye she would. She took this opportunity to say, ‘Well that would be welcomed. I could go but do not wish to. It’s a long way and he has never met his boss. Who knows what this guy is like!’ She paused then stated ‘There are too many things here, going wrong. That is why we are poor now. We have no money coming in, but I do get some from crops when I take them to market. That is the one bright point in our life. I’m hoping the trip tomorrow will straighten all out or we will have to go back to our homeland which I do not wish to do.’
… Deb paused then explained, ‘There is much slavery there. Government is corrupt as in many places.’ ‘Yes’ replied Denis, ‘I pray nightly that our government of this place is half descent and has a warmer heart than most.’ Then Denis smiled saying, ‘Maybe one of us should run for government.’ Deb quipped, ‘Dye has already beat you to that. Their answer was, No, the people they pick are out of towners in large modern cities. Well seasoned personnel with a head on their shoulders. Well my Dye was bent out of shape from that comment.’ ‘OK’ uttered Garr, ‘we will go now. Please tell Dye we were here, and give us a call if in need.’ ‘OK thanks, see you.’
… As leaving Jason again met Deb who looked as if on her way to park. Jason asked, ‘Is your husband taking care of you or are you on your own?’ ‘Oh, I’m OK. I just visit park for others are there eating.’ Jason stated, ‘That is what I mean, If Dye is providing for you?’ Deb stopped and looked Jason in the face. ‘Well what do you think? He has lost his job and we have no money. I thank your group for giving some. I must wait for Dye to get back, before I can make use of this money. So will that be all Sir?’ ‘Yes sorry’ apologized Jason as he wandered to catch up with other two waiting at edge of lot.

Chapter 6.

Adorning Suits .
… Well later Dye did arrive home, but very late. He had gone to see this person in desert called Revenge. He did not wish Deb to come, for they were both fearful of this person.
… Later as he settled down, he told Deb of the happenings. ‘All turned out OK. I stopped into Chuck’s place before going, and Chuck did tag along but he stayed outside to rescue me if need be. But Dear, this Revenge guy did give me a job.’ ‘Oh’ expounded Deb, ‘thank God you have work again. The young group of men we met the other week, came over here and gave me 50 bucks. I didn’t wish to take it, but had to cause they insisted.’ ‘Oh that was nice’ answered Dye ‘but right now I have to rest. I am very tired.’ ‘Sure’ agreed Deb ‘but first what job did that Revenge guy give you?’ ‘Oh I’m to be his eyes and report any wrong doings. He gave me a list of the wrong doings which I will read later,’ stated Dye, as he handed Deb the papers. Deb replied, ‘Oh I will read this in a bit dear, right now I will go to park and see if I can get something to eat.’ ‘Yes and if extra, I may eat later’ commented Dye, ‘and thanks dear. We will see you tomorrow.’ And Dye stumbled to the one bed they had.

… Well when Deb was out at park she met this new person, who came at her rather quickly. She asked if he had something to eat here or was he just walking through. She explained, ‘Sorry for asking but my hubby has lost his job and we are hungry.’ The guy commented, ‘Well yes I do have food but…well if you follow me I can give you ample food.’ ‘Oh Well,’ Deb hesitated, not knowing what was in store. The guy smiled and informed, ‘No you will be doing me a favor. I have to go to an area I do not care to go to, but it is an errand I must do.’ ‘Oh,’ asked Deb, ‘and who is making you do this.’ Well the guy looked sheepishly and replied, ‘It is my Boss.’ Deb who was getting very hungry with a bad belly ache agreed, ‘Well out of hunger I will follow you, but you promise you will feed me and get some to my husband for tomorrow also?’ ‘Yes I will.’ ‘OK, then what are we waiting for!’ uttered Deb excitedly.
… So the guy instructed, ‘Come put this on for camouflage as I will put this one on as well.’ ‘OK’ queried Deb, as she realized it was war colors on this hooded suit. She commented, ‘Oh like hiding from your enemy?’ ‘Yes’ this guy muffled as he was putting on his suit.
… He walked for a bit, over to other side of park with Deb following. There were many more trees there and guy stated, ‘We will go this way among the trees so as not to be seen.’ Deb was kind of excited for she likes a cloak and dagger situation. It also reminded her of the young boys that were helping them out a bit ago.
… Then the guy told Deb to sit on a log as he glanced about. Deb felt he was checking to see if coast was clear. Then she smelt something and commented, ‘Boy it stinks here. What is in these woods that smells like rotten garbage?’ The guy still glancing around, answered ‘I’m not sure, I don’t smell much!’ Deb stated, ‘Oh I’m so tired can I lie down here on this log, or are we going right now?’ And before she heard his comment she was sleeping. Guy asked ‘Do you hear me?’ But there was no answer. The guy went quickly to her, picked her up around neck and knees, then wandered off into the woods.

… Early the next morning Dye awoke and wandered about to find Deb. Well she was gone. He was beside himself. He thought of the desert they landed in before and wandered in park to see if someone could take him there. No one knew where the desert was.
… Then he remembered Chuck and phoned asking if he had seen anything happen around Revenge’s lot. When he got the answer of No, he broke down and cried saying, ‘they took her.
If you can’t see her and she is not there, where would she be?
How am I going to find her now?’
Chuck consoled saying ‘Calm down. Come over and stay with me for a while. Dye thought and agreed, ‘Yes but I have another something I must do first.’ He got off that call and phoned the Explorers to talk to anyone there.
… Dye got a hold of the Explorer group of young lads and told his story. They told him to stay in area and they would help him solve the mystery. They invited him over to stay a while, for now not many of them stay under same roof. ‘There is lots of room here cause we all have good jobs.’ ‘OK, asked Dye, ‘but where did you get good jobs? There are no jobs about this area.’
… Garr in his fatherly way, went on saying they found a city not too far away, with castles and the likes. All the people there are getting rich. and the furnishings are wonderful. But I will warn you, there is a dictator there or something to that nature, and there are many slaves about. The common persons like us, are not allowed to have slaves but the big wigs are supposed to keep slaves cause the dictator demands they achieve good things every day. Without the slaves these big wigs would not be able to maintain their type of life.
… Dye thought of his original plan to find his father or his grave. He asked the explorer on phone, ‘Would you think my father to be there?’ Garr thought for a minute the told Dye, ‘Well its an hour or two away by cab. It costs you 50 bucks a round trip. If you get enough go there and see for yourself. Our job allows us the travel expense, we work it off on the job. Our day is 12 hours long so we are not home most of times. We work 4 days and bunk there, then come home here to rest.’ Dye questioned ‘Oh, well I would be alone if came there to stay.’ ‘No’ replied Garr, ‘It would be OK. You see, we work different days so Our schedule is always different. You are welcome to stay here Dye. There is lots to do here but right now I have to go. Time is of the essence when home, you know.’ ‘Yes,’ commented Dye ‘and thanks. See you soon.’

… Dye was still devastated for he did not have 50 bucks. He sat in their part home, then got too cold, so wandered in a stupor through the park asking for food. After a couple of days of this the phone rang. It was a text and Dye started to read ‘Sorry Dear, I was not there to make you breakfast.’ He glanced to bottom and it was Deb, He text ‘Oh My! Where are you!! I miss You! Are you OK?! Where are you?
… Deb Replied, ‘I do not know!’ It is a very posh place and I am to keep home tidy and clean. Another cooks meals and several others cook for parties, which many are had in this wonderful place. Its a good job and I get my food and shelter right in this beautiful building.
Please come and find me.’ ‘How did you get there?’ asked Dye. ‘I’m not sure.’ was reply. ‘I remember meeting a guy in our park there. I asked him for food and he told me to follow him. He had an errand to do, but that is all I remember. Please come find me. You could get a good job here Dye! But if one finds me talking on my phone it will be taken away so I must go. I will text again. Bye!’

… Right away Dye text Chuck. He asked please help me. My wife was met by a man in the park and he took off with her. She does not know where she is. Please come to our park here, could you? Chuck called him and stated, ‘Well I have to work. That is a long way sir. Wait till weekend and I will gather some here to help.’ Dye asked, ‘Well can I come to your place now?’ Chuck hummed and hawed. ‘OK but I still can’t be of much help till weekend. Come if you wish.’

… Dye got off phone and thought, how am I supposed to get there. I have no money. In desperation he text Garr and asked for his help. Garr replied, ‘I will be right over.’
… Dye sat shivering in his cold house and when Garr came in his flees-winter jacket bringing Dye another, Dye settled and told what happened. Garr was concerned. He asked, ‘Are you sure you should go away off there? It is a long ways you know. That city is very large. I have been there before to get my degree.’ Dye commented ‘Well she is in a rich place or a large place anyway.’ Garr told ‘Well you should get your lawyer to help you. He would know more about that place, for many lawyers get their degree there as well. It is the central town of business in this whole area.’
… Garr continued with, ‘I’m afraid for you to go there yourself, you may be lost with no where to turn. I would not wish you to be swallowed by the same bunch.’
… Dye looked at Garr with his long dark hair and sobbed, ‘but she is there, I think. Where else would be a large place with many people serving food?’ Suddenly in confusion Dye uttered, ‘Oh, I do not know where she is and neither does she.’
‘This is hopeless!’

… Garr could see he had to take the reins here. ‘Ok’ stated Garr, ‘Walley works for a law firm. Although I believe it is stationed in our near town here, I will ask Walley what he thinks.’ Dye perked up saying ‘Oh, the one that was with us on trip to Revenges house in desert?’ ‘Yes’ answered Garr. ‘He should know more lawyers than I do. If your wife had been kidnapped you need the law with you when you go.’
… ‘Yes of course,’ uttered Dye. Garr stated his plan saying, ‘I will get an appointment with Walley tomorrow and we can go to where he is stationed. I’m not sure if its in the desert or nearer the large city. Walley is not a talkative guy. He thinks more than he acts which is good for a lawyer, which he is not. But he takes care of a large lawyer premises which puts him in the know.’
… Garr looked about and stated, ‘Please come over to our place. I don’t know how you can sleep with a part wall for a bedroom. We have complete rooms in our place. You can hide away there and get a good night sleep.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Dye, ‘it would be nice to get some sleep.’ Garr put his arm around Dye and they walked towards the Explorer’s lot. Poor Dye is just not in his right mind.

Uncle Clyde’s Story.
… Dye did a lot of thinking for several days. He remembered that there was comment that Walley works for Mr. Tass. Maybe Walley will answer my questions? But Dye was told his dad was dead via the inheritance he was supposed to get. By the time Dye grew up he only knew Uncle Clyde. Clyde did not know much more than Dye.
… Story was, many years ago Tass was travelling to a far off big city mainly to be nearer his land that he owned. He left his home for a short time to see what was in this far off area for him, and if worthy enough to settle there later. Before leaving his homeland he went to his lawyer and drew up papers saying that any properties or articles left behind by Mr. Terrance Tass (dad) were to go to his son Dynamos Tass.
… As father settled in this new land the future looked much brighter than where he had traveled from, and he decided to make a go. But father had settled in the big city, just before a dictator took over, so suddenly all changed. He was able to get ahold of a lawyer in City of Bain and this was closer to the land Tass owned in area. So this lawyer Priene arranged paper work further.
… Since he started working for this lawyers firm run by government in this new city, the dictator got ahold of this info so sent will and testament to Mr. Tass lawyer in his homeland stated that there had been an accident. They knew father was in army of previous country and asked lawyer to let his family know, funeral will be a high sea funeral and his ashes would be dispersed at border-lines. So family got paperwork and there was no more communication.
… Now Dye was right in thinking his relatives took off with his belongings, for as he got older his uncle had to downsize into a rental home and they had no furnishings. So all including Dye figured dad was long past for nobody ever heard from him. But in Dyes mind why wasn’t there to be a headstone someplace. Dye wanted to find a headstone to satisfy his curiosity.

Chapter 7.

Boring Times.
… One time Dye headed to park near his home. He told the explorers (where he was staying) he was going to think things through. He left in morning and would be back later.
… As Dye got to park the sun came out and it became a warmer day. He had packed a lunch so went to a table there and settled to eat with the birds. Dye felt much better but still felt he had to find his wife, but where would she be? He thought of Chuck again, for Chuck didn’t seem to have work. Problem with the Explorers is they are always working. Its hard to catch up with one, even to discuss what to do.
… Then Dye thought of what day it was, and realized tomorrow was Saturday. Oh he exclaimed to self. Chuck can help me on weekends! He finished his lunch and went to the park washroom.
…As Dye came out he met this guy and asked ‘Hi there, do you know where the shortest way to the desert is?’ Guy was surprised for he was going to ask this guy (Dye) if he needed help. Thus this guy smiled and said, ‘Yes I know desert quite well for have worked there off and on.’ ‘Oh’ exclaimed Dye, ‘do you know revenge. I have lost someone and she may be in the desert? Revenge may have nabbed her!’
… Dye went on with, ‘Have you ever been transported to the desert not of your will?’ This guy cringed for comment was too close to home. He uttered ‘NO, not that I know of. Have you?’ ‘Yes’ replied Dye, ‘My wife and I have found ourselves in desert as we woke up one early morning. But now I want to go to desert for with wife missing I think they transported her there again.’ There was silence so Dye asked again, ‘So you know a short cut to the desert?’ The guy smiled and explained ‘Yes, well I’m not sure of a short cut Sir, it is still the same distance away.’ Dye smiled saying ‘Well you know what I mean. Can I come with you or, …well are you going there now?’
… The guy smiled replying, ‘Well Mr. What is your name?’ ‘Oh’ uttered Dye ‘it is Dynamos.’ ‘OK, mine is Solo and yes I can go back any time. Are you in a hurry?’ Dye was on ground tying his shoe and readying by picking up garbage for the bin, when he looked up at Solo answering, ‘Well sir, my wife is missing and the sooner I find her the better in my mind.’ ‘Yes of course’ replied Solo. ‘OK, let me use the washroom here and we will be off.’
… Thus Dye stalled about outside a bit, thanking his stars for the luck he was having. He thought, I think maybe its the sun, all seems better when that sun is out. Just then The guy came out of washroom and smiled saying ‘OK sir are you ready?’ ‘Yes’ was answered as Dye picked up his lunch pack throwing it over his shoulder. And off they went towards the trees.
… Well just as Dye threw that shoulder pack and Explorer Denis saw something in woods and looked their way. Denis had gone for a walk to park. He wanted to ask Dye if he wished to share a lunch with him. Denis had slept all he could and there was a note on table telling of what was happening. (This is a common practice in the Explorer home, for otherwise when the sleepers awoke they had no idea who was home or when the others would awake.)
… So as Dye threw that backpack over his shoulder the sun caught the mettle Icon and shone making it bright among the trees. That’s when Denis caught sight of it. He whistled to Dye for he was a ways away, but Dye did not hear. Denis saw the other guy but too far away to clearly see either. He only knew Dye cause of the backpack he swung. Denis hurried across the trail to the park but the two in question, disappeared into the trees. Denis knew he would not catch up with them. But where were they going and who was that other guy?

… He thought to text Dye but was no answer. So Denis phoned Chuck to warn him, so Chuck could be on the look out. Last thing Denis wanted was for Dye to be in clutches of Revenge. But there was no answer there so he left it for later.

Journey with Solo.
… Solo did not talk much but kept going strongly as if heading for an appointment. Dye commented, ‘Are we in a hurry Sir?’ There was no answer just a smile.
… They went through sparse trees and they came upon another person that Solo knew. The two walked together, away from Dye. They spoke a couple words and Solo ushered Dye to catch up with him as he walked on from this other guy.
… Now as they went the quietness resumed but these two were certainly not quiet. Within, Solo knew he had Dye, the husband of the lady he caught a few days back. He figured this would be an easy errand, but little did he know, of this one. On the other hand, Dye was very keen and knew this had to be the guy Deb text of. So he was very alert as to where they were going, so to report to anyone he could contact on his phone. He also remembered Deb texting of hiding her phone.
… After a few minutes, as seeing an ending to the peaty woods they were plodding through, Dye excused himself to go behind a tree to do his business. Solo furrowed his brow but let him go. As Dye ducked behind a tree he tuck his phone in his pants after turning it off. He stood there a few seconds longer just to catch his breath, then returned with an ‘OK I’m done thanks. Had too much water for lunch.’ Solo smiled and they went on shortly to enter the open.
… Well they had only been going for an hour and this clearing was a road and the woods continued on opposite side. Solo stopped and looked both ways as if waiting for a car? Dye asked, ‘Oh are we getting a ride?’ Solo explained, ‘Well sometimes if a car is coming I will hitch a ride. It is shorter that way, as you asked me. But sorry I see no car at this point. There is another road coming up soon though and we will again see if a car is near.’ ‘OK’ agreed Dye with enthusiasm.
… Then Dye asked, ‘And how long will it take to walk there?’ Solo queried ‘Well that depends on where you wish to go in that large desert.’ ‘Oh yes of course.’ agreed Dye. ‘but I want to get near Revenge’s to talk to others and see if they saw anything there.’ Solo said, ‘Well that is far. If we keep going this way we will find a way that is closer to where the back of desert starts. It is a short cut but a car would be better on us.’ He turned and smiled asking ‘Why, are you tired already?’ ‘No, I’m just anxious to get there for my wife’s sake.’ Solo stated, ‘Well it will be another day.’ Dye did not like that answer.
… Towards dusk they came to a small river and both got a drink. Dye remembered Deb and he stopping, probably at that very same small river when transported to desert, not of their will. He has his water jug in his pack and got it out to fill it again. Solo commented ‘Good for you. I may ask for some of that tomorrow. I am unprepared.’ ‘Not a problem!’ answered Dye. Soon from there they found a group of trees closer together and decided to sleep there for the night.
… Well in morning Dye awoke to talking. There was that same guy Solo talked to yesterday but this time he had a car for they spoke of it. The two walked further through the trees with Dye behind them, but were they walking toward the car? That was a question for they were talking and wandering more then not. Dye could not hear what they were saying for it was almost a whisper, but within an hour there was another clearing in the woods.
… There was a car parked on the sandy shoulder. A Black car with blue racing stripes. Happy day all around. Dye thought, that is a racing car. That should get us somewhere in good speed. They wandered toward it and all piled in. It was very warm in the car so Dye was comforted. Dye made sure again that his phone was off and he got the tape from his backpack, so as they went he got busy and taped his phone to his low stomach. They rode a while and within three hours they were coming onto sandier lands in the desert.
… Now it was very different looking, for there were many hills about. Obviously not the place Dye knew of, but it was OK, for the sun made shade if at right angles. They got out and Dye asked ‘Where would Revenge’s home be from here?’ Solo queried, ‘Well I believe it is this way, a bit further. Come over here, maybe we can see.’
… They walked away from the car but Dye saw the other guy get a box from car and followed them. Dye wondered what the heck. He followed Solo who went to this big rock with three trees growing, out from underneath it. Very strange! Solo announced ‘Tarik here is bringing some suits that need to be worn, for in this area if walking, there are sandstorms. With them it is difficult even to breathe let alone walk. So we will all garb these before going on. Later I will show you the way.’
… So this guy Tarik caught up with them and all put on the suits. Dye was told to sit for a bit as the other two went on talking of how the weather was and if there were any storm alerts in area. ‘No, not a one’ commented Tarik. Apparently this guy Tarik was in the know. Then he stated ‘OK, Bye for now, I must get back.’
… As this guy Tarik left, Dye asked ‘Where is he going?’ ‘Oh he has his job Sir’ replied Solo. ‘OK just wondering’ commented Dye ‘Can I sit here for a bit more? I seem to be getting even more tired.’ Dye thought that odd as he looked toward Solo for an answer. Solo went on to explain, ‘Well with the long walk yesterday and the different climate, … are you OK Sir?’
… There was no answer, so Solo picked up Dye with his backpack and carried all across the road to just behind this hill, and that is the last they were seen.

Chapter 8.

Back in Woods.
… Earlier back in the park, Denis was watching Dye and the stranger go into woods as he was trying to cross the road. He got across but by then the men were out of sight. Denis was in shock. He ran to the woods which got thicker as he went. He figured it was hopeless, for the men had at least a 5 minute head start. He stood there among the woods whistling and hollering for Dye, but of no avail. He had brought lunch with him and he was hungry, so he gave up and went back to park.
… Denis sat at a bench puzzling what to do. After he gulped down some food he phoned home, for knew Frank was still sleeping when he left an hour ago. After three rings Denis hung up. Frank was still sleeping. Denis’s hands were tied. All he could do was wander home after a bit, and wait for others to wake or come home from work.
… Later Denis got home just as Garr was dropped off. Denis met Garr in front yard and explained, ‘I went to park to see if I could meet up with Dye for he was down and out this morning. But when got there I saw him talking to another and they went into the woods but did not come out.’
… As Garr and Denis entered home, Frank came into the room and Denis asked, ‘Have you heard from Dye or did he come home today?’ Frank replied ‘No I haven’t seen him. why?’ Denis announced, ‘He was kidnapped.’ Garr questioned ‘Are you sure it was he?’ ‘Yes he had the same backpack.’ Garr replied, ‘well it could be another.’ The two just stared at Garr. Then Garr said, ‘I will give him a call.’ The three stood there in kitchen but then Garr replied ‘There is no answer. Maybe he is charging his phone.’ The other two started talking of dinner and time went on.
… After dinner there was still no word of Dye, so Garr announced, ‘I will phone Walley tomorrow and ask to report this to his firm. There are several lawyers there so someone will take charge. I cannot do much else.’ Denis suggested, ‘Well you could phone Chuck and see if he found out something.’ Garr agreed ‘yes. OK maybe I should wait for tomorrow. It is getting late. There is not much we can do tonight.’
… So sure enough the next day Garr phoned Chuck but there was no answer there either. What is happening? Garr asked ‘OK who wants to take a ride to the desert this morning. It is the weekend and maybe we can solve this caper.’ Denis was interested and so was Frank.
… Well, it turned out that Chuck was very busy. He has seen other things and goes down near river to do some spying. Thus these phone calls are not getting through. But this time he left is phone in his home, so the machine picked it up. So when Chuck got home he had several messages. Even one from a lawyer asking what was happening. He called Garr to ask him why all the phone calls and Garr explained what events he knew. The other guys were right there also.
… Chuck stated, ‘Well there are things going on here. Please come and maybe we can go do some spying. If both Deb and Dye are missing, it is probably the same person taking them. I bet its Revenge. If so this is the best place to be. I have seen him more often the last week or so. Please come! I will feed you for sure.’ ‘OK’ agreed Garr, ‘we will try to be there later today. I think three well be coming, is that OK?’ ‘Sure’ agreed Chuck. ‘See you later. I’m doing nothing but staking out Revenge’s lot. Come join the fun, haha, and wear black.’

Dye Settling in.
… Next Morning when Dye first a-woke he was ushered into a shower and given clothes. After that he was given a simple job but has to know all about it.
… Later Dye realized Deb was not in the tunnel system, but there were lots of people to feed. He remembered it was Solo who brought him here or near here. He is confused but also feels drugged or something. He has to get out of here to save his wife. But as time went on it all blurred into the distant past. They must have been drugging his food for he tried to stop drinking and it didn’t work. But as the weeks went on he realized there was something wrong. He was on a mission but what happened? Everything has changed.

Explorers.
… Back at Explorers home, Garr Denis and Frank were frantically packing a change of clothing and Frank had to raid Jason’s dresser to find a black top. Jason was under the weather so vowed to stay home. Besides it was cool out to be roughing it. Garr pre-phoned a taxi to take them to Chucks place, so they will be there within a few hours.
… Garr even remembered the light-hat for spelunking through tunnels so found and packed it. He asked Jason if Denis could use his. (Apparently this spelunking was something the two of then did when on their own, one summer a year or two back.)
… So when they got to Chucks place it was night. Chuck commented on going out and checking on things, but the travelers were tired and thirsty. So some helped Chuck in kitchen and, in a bit they sat around having drink and snacks, while discussing all the details. After all were talked out, they headed for sleep in bed or on floor, to be up early next morning for some spying.

On a Mission.
… Next morning they had a bit of toast but they were anxious to get going. Chuck instructed, ‘I would like each of us to be in different places. Revenge has been through here more lately, along with other people I do not know. Frank, will you stay in my house and I will give each a walky-talky. If you see anything, start talking.’
‘Ok’ replied Garr ‘You want me to go into tunnel?’ ‘Yes’ agreed Chuck, ‘And I will come too if it comes to that. I wish to look about the whole area. I think we are missing something.’
… So chuck went over particulars with all. They got warmer clothes on and as leaving to outdoors, Chuck instructed Frank to, ‘Just watch out window and if any come to area or to my door or if one phones me, tell me on the radio, OK?’ ‘Sure, I get the warm job that is good.’
… Others left as Chuck led the way out. They paused in yard of sand, as Garr asked, ‘Should we not bring water or food?’ Chuck replied ‘No we will stay in this area. We will not go far. I want to see where these people exactly come from. Do they come from a distance or do they live near in houses here? If so where? It is best if we know the enemy and their routine.’ ‘Yes, I agree’ uttered Denis. Chuck continued with ‘Yes, so Denis, you stay about river and Revenge’s house there, and we will go further west toward the bushes and hills there.’
… The three wandered across the way and not a sound was heard. The sun was out today so a warming delight but there was a nip in the air just the same. So Denis went around to the river behind Revenge’s home and waited. Then just before Chuck went out of sight he called to Denis saying, ‘If you see anything like a boat or anyone, call me on radio.’ ‘Sure!’ called Denis. With that Chuck and Garr went west a few yards and hid near the bushes under a big tree there. All waited silently.

Troubles Afoot.
… All of a sudden a car rolled up near Revenge’s lot. Our gang knew nobody was home, for back light was on. But this guy in a brown guard uniform went to Revenge’s front door and was there for a bit. Chuck called Denis on radio saying to be aware, so Denis ducked behind bush hoping the radio was not too loud. He was just on opposite side of house, so guard could have come around and seen him. But no, the guy started walking toward Garr and Chuck.
… Those two scrambled and got on other side of bushes where a large rock was. They found an alcove in mountain edge behind the rock and hid well. But it was nerve-racking just the same, for this guard came toward them, and was only a foot away when he past them.
… Chuck whispered to Garr, ‘Where is he going? There is nothing back there? Is there?’ Garr who was confused replied ‘Well there has to be or why would he go there? His car is almost in opposite direction. Come on.’ Chuck hesitated but saw Garr had gone beyond mountain slope, so Chuck had to follow just to keep Garr in his sight. They went around and there were just more small bushes, I believe there were Pigweeds. (These turn into tumbleweeds when leaves die off. The wind breaks stem and plants go a-rolling dropping seeds along the way. There are several plants that create tumbleweeds.)
… As Garr followed the mountain slope around, it met another slope but he could not see the guard. He heard Chuck behind him whisper, ‘Wait for me!’ He turned and uttered ‘sh… I’ve lost him! That feathered helmet should be easy to see.’ As chuck came up behind Garr putting hand on his back, Garr whispered, ‘Do you see him? I feel unsafe, come!’ And they ducked under a leafy bush.
… They heard a rustling and scuffing along the ground. Chuck came out from the bush and noted saying, ‘There is a kind of path there see. It has gravel on it.’ Then he saw a gopher. Chuck uttered ‘Oh…’ Garr asked ‘What now,’ as he peered out of bush. Sure enough, a gopher was digging around and rattling the gravel that was neatly placed along, as if noting a path. ‘Come on!’ whispered Chuck. The guy is probably long gone now!’

… They went around gopher and westward on this feeble path among the wild grasses and bush. It was a beautiful sight with the mountains and the morning sun, which was low enough so create rays of sunbeams over the mountain peaks. The birds about were singing and a Killdeer was playing broken wing, as our two walked cautiously along this sparsely graveled path.
… They were about to head back when they heard an echoing. It sounded like people talking but echoing. Our two were coming up to a turn in the path, so hugged closer to mountain cliff and Chuck peeked around corner. To his surprise it was a cavern and that was were the echoes were coming from. Chuck turned back to Garr and stated, ‘We go back now. We have found our lead. Come-on! Hurry! Before they clue in.’ Garr poked his head around corner and saw the opening in mountain, about-faced and ran to catch up with Chuck. In no time they were back at that tree with the rock and they kept going as calling on radio to other two, that they were ending this mission. ‘Meet us back at my place.’
… As Chuck and Garr got inside, Denis called on radio. ‘I cannot come at this time. There is a boat here. Its full of people who I believe are going to fish.’ ‘On our way!’ called Chuck. Garr and Chuck hurried out the door again, to the east side of Revenge’s house. The two peered around the river side of home and sure enough, there was a rather large boat with about 6 people aboard. ‘Oh-Oh’ called Denis, as the boat was coming ashore. He scrambled and skulked through the bushes there, to meet on east side with Chuck and Garr. The boat people were coming ashore with buckets full of fish. Apparently, they had already been fishing.

… Well the six people came up and stalled about the chair and umbrella area. Then to our people’s shock, there was Revenge and the guard with another one who was saying, ‘Here is a backpack. the Guard explained, ‘One of the people, I believe Solo, snagged this the other day from a prisoner’s shoulders.’ Revenge said, ‘It may as well be put to use. Here people put the fish in this.’ Thus, the six fishermen started putting the small to medium fish into the backpack.
… Denis was right there with the others, but Denis was in shock. ‘That is Dye’s backpack.’ uttered Denis. Suddenly, flash went the mettle icon as Denis stated, ‘See that is what happened at the park. They stole his backpack. He is in the hands of Revenge!’ Our three just stared at each as Chuck uttered quietly, ‘Lets-get-out-of-here.’
… Thus they went home in a roundabout way, staying near trees and bushes till inside Chucks home across the trail. They collapsed in the chairs there and were silent. Denis spoke in a bit saying, ‘I wonder who the fish were for?’

Chapter 9.

Dye’s Dilemma.
… As time went on Dye became unwell and did not feel like eating. Thus on this one day, they put food in front of him and he picked at it. In that time his mind was going around. He remembered he was going to use his phone for something. He kept giving his food to the ones around him, so when sent back to room his mind was freer of medicine. Later on as resting alone, Dye was getting his mind back. He grabbed his phone from his pants which had an inside pocket, and he looked at the numbers he had there. He remembered Chuck and left a message with him. He told him not to answer for they would know. He told Chuck he was in back of desert then drugged. ‘Please come and see what is there.’ Dye tried to explain that he was near a river and came across two roadways from park forest in his area. ‘Please help me. They are drugging us. But I have to eat.’
… Well the next morning Dye was hungry and very thirsty so had to partake. Thus he was drugged again and did not know anything.

Nabbing Uniforms.
… Later upon acknowledging the phone calls, Chuck decided to phone all the numbers he had. One was the Explorers, the other was Walley and the Lawyers firm. He text all of them with brief messages of Dye being kidnapped, so most plus others text him back. In texting they agreed to meet at Chucks place in desert for was right near Revenges.
… As the days went on while waiting the weekend, Chuck was anxious. He spied most every day just to be ready for the big day which from his phone calls, he knew it was any weekend now including the one in two days. He got up this day and wanted to spy more, so dressed in pale greens and went out into a nice sunny day.
… Again he has not seen Revenge the last few days so went to wait in the camping area by the mountain slopes. It was so nice, and a little bird (Fox Sparrow), had come near and was calling its loud chuk-chuk-chuk twe-twe-twe-tweet (as Chuck called it.) Chuck was settling back against this rock behind him as listening to the bird, but suddenly he saw Revenge coming out his back door.
… Well chuck flipped out for he was right in view. He dashed behind the bush there with the tall tree and realized he had his camouflage colors on, so he relaxed more. Maybe Revenge did not see him but he certainly saw Revenge. And not only that Revenge was carrying a big box, which was a first. Revenge is usually scurrying and skulking through the bush in a hurry, to someplace.
… As seeing Revenge coming his way, Chuck remembered before, that the Guard had come to within a foot or two of him so he went around further to hide better. He heard the guy coming but then Revenge swore or something and all went quiet again.
… Chuck dared to go out to the tall tree again and found Revenge not there. He thought, well the guy must have gone another way. Chuck relaxed and was wandering about when he saw the big box on the ground. He went behind a bush sheltering him from Revenge’s home and dared to peer into the box. Well to his surprise was many uniforms and he wasted no time to snaffle off a few.
… After Chuck text Explorer’s home of gaining uniforms, Garr’s group on the next weekend, ventured to make the trek there. Garr and his lawyer Plato as well as Denis and Frank all made a trek into that forest via cab to behind the park. They found the first road and asked driver about another road of gravel near. Well driver knew the way to desert from there also, so they got to the west entrance of cave later Saturday afternoon.

Escaping Showers.
… Meanwhile Walley and his lawyer Priene along with Chuck all got into the brown suits as guards and were ready at other end. With both units having lawyers with guns they proceeded to find out what the place was like.
… Chuck Walley and lawyer Priene went into cave in that alcove between the two mountains and when they met another guard they only nodded heads in greetings and went on. ‘Piece of cake!’
… From there they ducked into a small room which had another door at back. It was a bedroom with a single bed in corner and nothing more. They tried the back door and found a small washroom with toilet and sink, No shower. They had heard showers when first entering the tunnel, so maybe that was all there was. They soon found that most of these bedrooms were empty, so they kept going.

… They saw a group of guards coming and got nervous so ducked into another empty room, but this room was not empty. Someone was in gray uniform slouched over on bed. The three of Chuck Walley and Priene whispered what their plans were but the guy heard them and turned saying, ‘Yeah what do you want?’ Well surprisingly to all, there was Dye, a very demure Dye, a Drugged Dye. It took Dye a bit to remember who they were but he finally did, with some talking.
… Chuck immediately text Garr and they answered, ‘Great! We will continue here at this end. It is a public place where visitors are welcome.’ ‘Oh really’ text Chuck. With that all there were hanging on every word, even Dye, as Chuck text on. It was a scene of an empty room with one small bed covered with people.
… Garr text on with, ‘Yes they accepted us in when we told them we have two workers here. We couldn’t say prisoners, so workers seem to have worked. There is a big diner here with many cooks making pretty good-looking food. We are going to stay in sink and eat a meal while waiting for our two workers. If they ask who workers are we will tell their names, OK? Oh here comes the food. We will sign off.

… Dye saw the text clearly. He shrieked ‘That will be where Deb was talking about. She said she had to look after the house and many cooks were there making meals. This is the place!’ ‘Well’ queried Chuck, ‘we are not sure of that.’ ‘Yes, but I have to save Deb. Well after standing and exclaiming that, Dye was so tired and drugged that he lay down and could do no more.
… As Dye collapsed on the bed and became quiet the others glanced about. There was a clipboard there with a page that listed several guards and they had been signing the paper every Few hours. Walley asked Dye, ‘What is this for?’ There was no answer.
… So Walley took it over to Dye who said, ‘Oh the guards have to sign in when come. They clean my washroom also but I have heard rumors of these backrooms. They lock them sometimes and then the person who was in the washroom goes missing? I don’t like that, so I never go there. I go when we get food… But I know the food must be poisoned for I am so tired all the time.’
… Dye started sobbing saying, ‘I had so many plans but life is bad and totally not fair.’ ‘No’ replied Walley, ‘this is true, but some people are good hearted and often people get a break via those nice people. Just wait, it is your turn very soon.’ Walley patted Dye on back and consoled, ‘We are here now, we are working for you.’
By then Dye had fallen asleep.
… Well luck was with Chuck’s group. Walley noted that Ben did not sign the paper today. As Walley was viewing the radio Chuck gave him, He commented quietly, ‘There is only one radio company here that I know of.’ Chuck uttered ‘Yes go on.’ Walley continued, ‘If that is the case, they own all these channels on the radio. I have a plan.’ All three perked up to listen.
… Walley went on with, ‘I will call headquarters and say I am Ben and ask for which channel the desert people control.’ ‘OK’ agreed Chuck. ‘and if something goes wrong just flip the channel.’ ‘OK.’ So Walley called channel one. A lady answered, ‘Oh it is the slavers group, channel 3 Sir.’ ‘OK thank you.’ and Walley turned to channel 3. They listened for a bit gleaning info for further task.
… Then Walley uttered ‘Dispatch, come in please.’ ‘Yes’ … ‘Did you wish me to take Dye to the showers?’ Answer was, ‘Why, is there a problem?’ ‘Yes sir’ replied Walley. ‘He has been unwell and was sick all over.’ ‘Oh, I will send a guard there right away.’ ‘OK Sir’ chimed Walley, ‘But we have a guard here now. That is why I’m calling you.’ ‘OK good, I will send a cleaner there in a bit.’ Guy added, ‘And Dye is going to be transported tomorrow anyway.’
… Walley thought a minute commenting to others, ‘We do not have keys to washroom to get out. We will have to go out tunnel.’ Then Walley said on radio, ‘Well we could transport him today if that be alright?’ Answer was, ‘Well I have to take that up with head office. So long as there is room there in the city of Windshire, he can go. They actually need 8 today but we cannot provide that many.’ Walley answered, ‘OK we will try our best. He is so quiet that there would be no hesitation on his part. It may be a better time.’ Answer was, ‘Yes, I just got word it is OK to go there. Thank you, Sir, that is of great help. What is your name?’ ‘Oh, I am Ben, Sir, thanks.’
… Well, our group snickered and stared in wonderment. ‘Ok we have to go now. Come on.’ Walley called a cab to wait at Chuck’s place as others got Dynamos dressed in new duds. Still prisoner’s clothes but he can wear them till he gets home.
… Well, they were successful in getting to Chucks place, but the other group was still in the west tunnels. Our group had not heard from them for a while. So on way home Chuck called Garr.
… Garr did answer but could not talk. He whispered, ‘We are in troubles here. We waited for Deb several hours, but she did not come to café. We went and found her, but she had to use her washroom before we snuck her away. But the scary thing is, She called out when in washroom. We tried to open door, but it was locked. We tried again a few minutes later and got in but washroom was empty. This spooked us, so we were on our way back to café and were caught. Now we are in a waiting room. Don’t worry about us, we will manage. You keep going, Please get Revenge for us! We will try’…then transmission was cut off. Our group wished to help but they could not get a hold of them. All was silent.

(Yet more disappearances in the desert.)

Chapter 10.

Quest for a Lawyer.
… After a day or two at Chucks place Walley, Garr and Dye decided to go home. The lawyer had gone home in taxi almost immediately after getting freed from tunnel system, for he has a business to run. But the rest just felt lucky to get out and wanted to talk about it. So next day Tue, Chuck said bye to all company. He will get a better rest and reacquaint himself with his sporadic work, hoping he is still on the list. Dye on the other hand did not wish to go home. He traveled to Explorers and was happy to stay there for a while. He figured Wife was good, although still in tunnel system. A better day will come.
… After a couple of weeks at Explorers, Dye started thinking on why he has come to this far off place. Back home was much more modernized. He wondered how his Uncle Clyde was doing and actually gave him a call, but there was no answer. He was uncertain for he had hollered at his relative when living there a while ago.
… Well the rest of Explorers got back to work in a few days in that Big city far away, and most did keep their jobs. It crossed Dye’s mind to do likewise, but he still had his mind on, why he was here and of his wife still in prison.
… He was told by the other team in west tunnels that Deb is a well liked person there. So Dye was sure she was not going to be killed any time soon. He felt that if he could get to the bottom of his father’s land, it would help them both to get out of there back to where they came from.
… He remembered way back when, that Walley or Travis told him he should go to their near town here and ask government office who owns the lands about. He felt this was the time to look into this. So one morning he told the Explorers who were there, that he was off on a trip to find his father’s land. They wished him luck and warned, ‘Watch out for the Revenges.’
… So Dye got a taxi and was dropped off in near town called Bain. He remembered the buildings he went to before and tried to find them again. As he came to this building, he was hungry. He stopped into building, and they had a café on first floor. Dye asked for a doughnut and ate it down. It was only a dollar which left him with 19 more. That is all the money he has to his name at this point. Let’s hope government offices don’t charge him to talk to someone.
… Later Dye came to a door of a lawyer and after a thought, went in. Lady asked, ‘What would you like?’ Dye asked, ‘Do you have a map of the land and who owns it at this point?’ Lady replied, ‘Well yes, hang on.’ Dye looked for a chair and there were three with one occupied. He sat down with a thud, for was tired of traveling and walked much to get here. Like most cases, cabs only take you so far and you have to walk the rest of way. Not like back home, Dye thought. His mind went back to home and father.

… As soon as Dye sat the lady came back saying, ‘Here sir, you have to read this in the office. We do not make copies thanks.’ So Dye turned and went to corner that had a low table almost empty.
… Well it was not a good find. There was no name of Tass on this map. Maybe it wasn’t this area, but he was sure that the rocks along that river, were where his family had vacationed many times when he was young. He was devastated all over again. He gave map back and went out with head down.
… Dye thought, maybe relatives sold all lands and took the money. But those maps went back 60 years. Dye was so confused and felt he would never know or find his inheritance and family belongings.

The Rescue.
… Dye got so low that he spent several nights in the streets. Then one early morning, he was woken by this well dressed fellow. It shocked Dye to see this rich looking person hovering over him. The fellow was on his way to work and saw Dye there as a bum. But the rich man was shocked at the look of this fellow. He asked, ‘Sir what is your last name?’ Dye was mad and did not trust anyone at this point. The fellow said, ‘Please Sir, I will give you a new suit and breakfast if you just tell me your last name.’ Well Dye stirred with this, for he was very hungry having had to scrounge for any food, then hold his nose to eat it at that. He looked more carefully at this fellow in the good suit and realized he was indeed rich looking. … Dye asked, ‘Ok what will I eat?’ The rich Fellow replied, ‘Whatever you like…that my cook can make.’ Dye suddenly woke up very alert saying ‘OK shake on it.’ The Rich one announced ‘Hi my name is Keen Tass, What is yours?’ Dye opened his eyes wide and uttered, Tass! I am Dye Tass, are you my relative?’ Well Keen thought, then queried ‘I’m not sure, where were you born?’ Dye replied ‘Bridgton in county of Clapton, a small city near Ballie.’ Guy asked ‘Who was your father?’ Dye uttered ‘Terrance Tass.’ ‘Oh Wow!’ screeched the guy, as he jumped up pulling Dye up also. ‘You are my nephew!’
… ‘Last time I heard of you was several years ago. Your family figures you died. Is Debra still with you?’ ‘Oh, well she is in jail right now.’ ‘Jail,’… Dye answered, ‘Yes, Revenge got her as he got many people.’ Keen replied, ‘Oh the dictator has his rules. All areas have to pay with people. They consent to the will of dictator and Revenge gathers people up as slaves to send to the big city of Windshire.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Dye, ‘I have heard all about that. I do not wish to hear any more…Do you know if my father died and where is his headstone.’
… Well this fellow Keen was in shock. There were things he was not to tell anyone, no matter who they were. After a minute he asked, ‘You didn’t get a letter?’ Dye answered ‘Yes, the one that said he died?’ ‘Yes that is the one’ spoke a relieved Keen. Dye replied, ‘Yes but it said that my dad’s belongings including his land, would come to me. I have nothing.’ Keen Tass stated, ‘Well you stay with Clyde and he will provide you with what you wish. That was stipulated in the paper work somewhere.’ Dye replied ‘Yes but I’m looking for evidence and the land My dad Terrance left for me. Did you sell it to get rich or something?’
… Keen Tass cringed and looked away as if hearing something. Then he uttered ‘Oh that was scary.’ Dye looked around and asked ‘What, did someone rob another? That happens out here often.’ Keen queried, ‘I’m not sure for they ran between those buildings over that way.’ Dye looked again and by that time their state of mind changed. Smart of Keen to change the subject. He had to! No one could be trusted in these hills. It is not a safe place for anyone, rich or poor.
… Now in Keen’s mind he was thinking, this lad is in a state. I must do something for him. Thus Keen continued, ‘OK, I have ashes of your loved one. I could give you some in a small urn, so you have a part of him. Is that something you wish?’ ‘Oh’ agreed Dynamos ‘I would like that. It’s just I have nothing, but I remember my father very well…And yes, could I still get that meal you talked of?’
… Suddenly Dynamos went silent and put his head down. Then he spoke quietly saying, ‘I have been so down lately. I need a change of clothes. I have had thoughts of suicide the last few days. Many of my friends are trapped in the tunnels of Revenge. Do you know what he wants of them?’
… Keen Tass stated, ‘Come on. I was just going to work but I will phone and tell them I have an emergency. They will give me the day off and I will keep you company. You need to get a good job. We will hunt for one today, OK. I will also get you a good suit and some food. If I can get you a job, I will also pay your first month’s rent. How does that sound.’
… Dye expounded with, ‘Oh that sounds wonderful. I would like that! Then my wife will have somewhere to come home to. We have not been well lately. Robbed and forced to move. We had to use parts of our walls to make fires, for nights are cold in winter times.’ Keen looked shocked, ‘That won’t do’ he exclaimed. ‘A relative of mine will not die in the streets if I can help it!’ ‘Thanks’ replied Dye. ‘I appreciate this sir. If you get me a good job I will be in debt to you sir.’ ‘No No’ replied Keen. ‘That is the least I can do. I am rich, so I can afford to help my relative out.’
… So the two of them walked and talked on. They got to Keen’s car and he rode home again. He gave Dye one of his suits as they plan to go shopping after a big breakfast of all you can eat. Keen ate a bit with Dye and they became good friends.
… After they ate, Keen went over into another room and brought out a large urn. He stated, ‘Wait there.’ He went into same room and came out with a small urn. He went to the kitchen and got a big spoon, to put some ashes into the small urn. When all was done he presented the urn to Dye with bow and a letter, Which he had written a year ago for Dye’s 20th birthday.
… Then Keen commented, ‘I have a confession. I wanted to find out for a few years now, how you were. I took to you as a child. You were so handsome as a young lad. I was very sorry when your father left you, but it was a bad time for whole family. Terrance was trying to better situation, and he would have if that dictator hadn’t taken over. Now the dictator is old but his regime is well established, and even if he passes the fortress of evil will not be surrendered. That group has many tricks up their sleeve to get rich. They are rich crooks and that is the worst kind.’
… Keen instructed, ‘Read that for me. Open it now.’ ‘OK’ and Dye found the envelope had a thousand dollars in food stamps tucked into a nice card. Dye read the letter which was an apology from Keen’s generation, of not beating the regime that was upon them.’ Dye thanked his Uncle Keen and claimed, ‘Yes if I could I would save all those people.’
… Dye went on with, ‘We have tried Sir. We actually invaded that tunnel more than once. I was prisoner there for a while and my friends came and got me out through some tricks of their own.’ ‘Really’ uttered Keen. ‘Well I have wished to do same, but it is complicated. There are many layers to deal with. That is what throttles me. If I ever get up enough people or gumption I will phone you and your friends. We can form a posse and go tumble the King.’ ha ha. They smiled although they both meant business.
… Dye uttered, ‘Oh how wonderful if we could.’ Keen stated ‘Well it is wishful thinking. First we must get you settled in a good job. You would be no help to me when skin and bones.’ They smiled and Dye agreed. ‘OK’ uttered Keen ‘Bring that urn for yourself, here is some tape to seal it. Now we go and get a suit for you and then I will take you into my building of law. Are you good with figures?’ ‘What?’ uttered Dye. ‘Math’ explained Keen. Dye replied, ‘Well, not the best.’ ‘Well we have to start somewhere. Come on.’ And off they went shopping.

Money for the Grave.
… When Keen Tass took him to their law offices He did have a specific job that he knew was opening up. He talked to his higher up of giving Dye a chance, Keen asked ‘Please, for he was on the streets when I picked him up. Please give him a chance.’
… It was a good job of organizing files of total office but he was on trial, for any of these persons could say he was not doing well and he would be out. Only on weekends could he try and rescue wife, but nobody has heard from her or even the Explorers lately. All was too quiet.
… Dye wants to make some money for flat broke again. He also has in his mind to get a headstone for fathers ashes. He was very happy of this but it costs. When that is paid he will feel freer to think of finding others to help him with a rescue.
… So for a while he will be very busy at life. But with a new job with new people, and a new apartment, his old life pressures were in the distance. On weekends his mind would go back to the younger years with Deb his faithful helper. But where has she ever gone, and will he see her again? That was a baffling question that he often put aside.

The Headstone.
… Well after several months Dye was getting a bank account. He hounded the legal department of big city Windshire for he wanted a headstone for his father, placed in a cemetery and it was Windshire City that made headstones for whole area.
… Keen a relative had offered Dye a small urn of Fathers ashes. Before Dye left Uncles property he checked urn just to make sure. He did not trust his relatives that much even when Uncle got him a job. There was just too many suspicions. He talked to the family lawyer often until they agreed and got a headstone made, and the company places the stone in one of the cemeteries. Cemeteries are full these days, but it was near Dye’s area so he had no problems with that. This settled him and he was very pleased.
… So twice a year he would visit his beloved at Christmas and then at New Years, to see him off for another year. This gave Dye much relief, for now he could talk to his dad. But the next time he visited he noticed that the stone was not set like the others. It was way out into the car way. Well, Dye did not wish to jinx situation so he went on praying and left happy for another year.
… Time went by and the next year Dye went to visit father, he was met by grounds keeper and owner. Owner asked, ‘Does this headstone belong to your family?’ ‘Yes’ answered Dye. Owner stated, ‘Well we did not authorize this headstone here. It will have to be removed.’ Dye was shocked. He asked ‘Yes well what about the remains?’ Owner replied, ‘There are no remains here Sir, it is a stone placed upon ground, empty ground for it is a car way here.’ Dye queried in alarm, ‘Well I gave you some ashes, where are they?’ ‘Oh’ uttered Owner, ‘We put them in crematoria area but they do not belong to your father.’ Dye was mad. ‘What the heck are you talking about Sir? My uncle Keen gave me ashes from a large urn so I could get a headstone for them.’
… Now the owner of this cemetery was perplexed, for he did not know what this situation was. He was silent for a moment then the grounds keeper nudged him and uttered, ‘Go ahead.’ Dye asked ‘Yes tell me the truth, why are you giving me a bad time here? Do you wish more money?’ ‘No Sir, your dad is alive.’
… Well Dye was confused, mad and did not feel well. He wandered off to the street through all the graves neatly set as all the rest, and thought, I should have known it was in wrong place. Then he heard one talking. He turned back and commanded, ‘Well what do you want now?’ Owner replied, ‘Sorry should we throw this headstone away or keep it for you, Sir?’ Dye hollered, ‘Oh throw away,’ and he turned back with head down and kept wandering out of sight. He did not believe them for he has his dad’s ashes, or had them! Who knows what they did with them. He has never been lower as of this point.

Chapter 11.

… Dye wandered down a back alley and hid-out from humanity. He was woken in the night by a bum and he snapped at him. The Bum retaliated with, ‘Sorry but I am hurting as much as you. We all have our trials Sir. but I know a guy that will feed you if you wish to know.’ Dye was hungry and did not know, ‘Where was he going to get food,’ but he was quiet. He has had too many people telling him what to do. The Bum uttered, ‘Here’ and placed a small paper in Dye’s hand, then left.
… After a bit more sleep Dye awoke to the sunrise. He suddenly felt the paper and remembered, ‘Oh it wasn’t a dream.’ He looked at paper that read, Corner of Corning-ham and Amber Avenue. He stirred and felt the chill of the air. So he got up shortly after. He looked at the paper again and saw writing but he did not wish to read it yet. He thought of government again and proceeded to find his way out of area.
… Dye got to his work in Bain but he mainly wished to confront Keen Tass to help him go after the government in Windshire for wrongly placing headstone. But in the back of Dye’s mind he also wished to confront Keen himself of why the cemetery declaimed his father was alive. It took him a while to get there, for again he had slept in the streets. But when he did get cleaned up, he went straight to Keen’s office and insisted on a meeting right then. Keen was confused but accepted and got coffee for both.
… So when all was settled they talked. Dye queried, ‘The cemetery told me those ashes were not my fathers, Why? Keen shuffled in his chair and checked the phone before looking at Dye. Then he explained quietly, ‘Well you were in such a state that I had to find something for you to settle down with. Your mind was set on finding father or something related to father. So I did the best I could and gave you ashes, of a loved one. The ashes were of your nephew Shane. He is my son who died in a car accident a few years back. That was the best I could do Sir.’ Dye replied, ‘So my father is still alive, how could that be?’ Keen shrugged his shoulders saying ‘I don’t know.’
… Dye did not know what to ask next, for didn’t wish to bring up this guy’s Kid’s death again.(blab blab) He had his hands in his pockets and shuffled about feeling the paper there. He pulled it out and asked, ‘Where is this place,’ as showing Keen Tass? With the reaction on Keen’s face, Dye knew Keen knew where it was. Keen was quiet then uttered, ‘Oh I remember seeing this address, but I have forgotten what it was for.’ Dye replied ‘Balderdash, I think you know exactly where it is and what it is for. What are you hiding from me Sir?’ Keen excused himself and ducked out of the office. He actually went to phone somebody and was on phone when Dye found him again. He was in a coworkers office.
… This really puzzled Dye. Obviously his Uncle was hiding things as most of his relatives seem to have done all his life. Well Dye has had it for sure. He Hollered ‘Well Sir Tass, you can keep that job and expect not to hear from me again.’ Out Dye went down the stairs and out of the building. He was going to get to the bottom of this even if it killed him. He wants his dad’s stuff and he will not rest till it is accomplished.
… Well he was super mad. He read the address for the first time and called a cab and went straight there. To his surprise it was a large home, like a mansion. It had a metal fencing around with big ornate gate. As wandering the place on outskirts of lot, he found the back gate was open and several people were there in tattered clothing.
… This puzzled Dye but he ventured into yard and saw two ladies there giving out food. He also noted that this part of the posh building was not super fancy so he wondered if another building. He dared to go up to the ladies, who both asked, ‘Yes would you wish a burger or Stew?’ Dye asked ‘How much?’ One of ladies said ‘It is free to people who are very hungry. You look thin but you also have a nice suit on, so I ask you are you hungry?’ ‘No not really’ answered Dye. ‘I just wished to ask some questions.’
… The other lady warned, ‘If you are here to give us troubles, I will get the dogs out.’ The bum beside Dye uttered ‘Oh No, that is OK, I will leave.’ The lady replied ‘No-No, not you. It’s this guy in the nice suit we are talking about.’ ‘Oh’ said bum. He turned to look at Dye and asked, ‘Yes why are you here when you probably have ample moneys?’
… Dye did not answer him but asked the ladies, ‘Who owns this building and is it two buildings?’ First lady said, ‘Here have this burger and come on in, we will chat.’ She then asked, ‘Freda you are OK here now?’ ‘Yes’ replied the second lady.
… So Dye with hands full of Mile High Burger, clutched and cuddled burger as they made their way into this nice back-house. Lady ushered Dye to a small table for 4, as she went ahead to get drink for the two of them, in this kitchen of moderate view.
… She introduced herself ‘I am Betty and this place is the servant quarters you are in Sir. What is your name?’ Dye smiled as assembling his burger saying, ‘I am Dynamos Tass.’ The lady opened her eyes to this but Dye was looking from behind her, as watching what he was doing to this chunk of food he was about to assassinate. She went on making drinks and came to table as Dye was munching this burger. He had not eaten yet today for in such a temper overnight and this morning at office. He knows he has to do something about that but it is a very low time for him. He wishes at times he were dead.
… As the food was nourishing him he felt better and was kind of ashamed of his behavior. He apologized to her for gulping his food and for the state he must look in. He explained ‘I have had a very bad bout through my life recently and I am grateful for this place. I met a person who gave me this address.’
… Dye got out paper again from his pocket and showed Betty. As she was looking at it Dye asked, ‘Who is responsible for this eatery here. Is it you?’ Betty answered ‘No, it is the owner of the mansion here.’ ‘Oh, can I thank him please? Is he home now?’ ‘No’ replied Betty, ‘He works in the far city of Windshire. He usually comes home on weekends and sometimes on weekdays depending.’ Dye thought then asked ‘Why does he work so far away, and especially if he is rich?’ Betty answered, ‘Well as most things it is the dictator’s work sir.’ Dye replied, ‘Oh yes of course. What is this person’s name please?’
… Betty asked ‘Why would you like to know?’ Dye looked at her sternly thinking of how he is always shunned and not answered properly. Betty explained, ‘Oh I just wish to know for often people try to get the better of rich people. It is just a security measure that is all. Nothing against you sir.’ Dye calmed down and replied ‘No, I just wished to thank him and offer him help if that be OK?’ Betty replied ‘Well his name is Harris Sir.’ Dye thanked her and asked, ‘So he is here on weekends?’ ‘Yes’ replied Betty. ‘I will tell him you may come.’ ‘OK that is great’ exclaimed Dye. He did truly wish to thank the man for he knows many people on street now and this place saves them from starvation. So Dye finished his burger and drink then merrily went on his way, intending to return in a few days.
… As coming away he thought of his situation and wondered of just getting a hold of Explorers left at home, and maybe ask them to get him a job in the big city far away. That would solve a lot of hassles for him. They already know were city is and could give him the address, then he would just take a cab. That big city is to big to go to, just to wander about. He may find himself on the streets permanently in that scenario.
… So in a few days he ended up back at Corner of Corning-ham and Amber Avenue. He made his way around outside of property and got through the back fencing, But guess what. As to his prior luck, this Harris guy did not come home this weekend, for had extra things he had to take care of. Well this made up Dye’s mind for sure. He was out of there after a meal, and back to Explorers. Hopefully they will get him off to work in big city of Windshire.

Chapter 12.

Back in the Tunnels.
… When the explorers were caught they were put into tighter security for trying to snatch Debra. This scuttled them I guess for we haven’t heard from them for quite a while.
… Meanwhile they took all from Debra including her hair which is now short. The place Deb was off to, she was not told of. She would not wake till later, when she was there. People wishing slaves put in a form specifying what they wish the slave for. So within those tunnels the people decide who would be best suited for the place and job going to.
… Once Debra woke in that later evening again, they asked her to shower and change clothing. She was pleased with the change for it was of a more formal dress. She was distressed the first day but became accustomed to things for job was no different from the tunnels. They wanted her to keep house and food which suited her. The name of this rich person was Harris and he was an OK person.
… This Harris Guy called her in to relax while having coffee. He stated, ‘You talk to me any time. I am not your boss but your co worker. You have the house on weekends for I am often away to a home on outskirts of here. You are to shop and clean house here, but on weekends you could also do a bit for yourself.’ (life would be all around better for Deb but she did think of Dye many times a week. She misses him. She also misses all the people she served in the tunnels, but still prefers where she is now.)
… Harris kept an eye on her for the first weeks but soon things got relaxed. They started talking more and Mr. Harris often ask her of her past life. When it came out that she missed her fiancé, Mr. Harris told her he would be on the lookout for this one and promised he could live under this roof also, if he was acceptable. Deb was elated with that and behaved very well, doing extra things about the home, including making a large Garden out back.
… One time in cleaning home, Debra found the old make-up again. This time she wished to clean home well, so when she talked with Harris again she asked of this old make-up. Harris spoke of another person in past helping him out. He said, ‘Her name was Sarah, a nice lady but after a time she wished to go on into schooling to help the children, so I let her go.’ Harris continued with, ‘Debra, you are not jailed here. Like I have said, you are my co-worker and if ever you wish to pursue other ventures I will not stop you, that is unless you have goofy ideas. But in your case I don’t think that of you. I think we see eye to eye in many ways, Right?’ ‘Yes’ answered Deb, she was happy to be in a nice place with a nice person, but she misses Dye just the same.
… Time went on and Mr. Harris was very pleased with Debra. He would ask her to keep him company by joining him with coffee each evening. He also took her out to dinners and shows etc. He started including her into his life as friend, thus she talked more readily of her experiences.
… Mr. Harris also talked more of his situation. And of how he was stuck in this big city when he had much property in the suburb cities as in Bain. Debra of course uttered, ‘Oh I have been to Bain with my Bow. He was looking for a lawyer to find land his dad was to leave him in his will. But he never did find Mr. Tass.
… Well this opened an new venue. Mr. Harris replied ‘Ha… I used to know a Mr. Tass very well.’ Deb agreed ‘Yes, there are a few Tass about. There was a lawyer mentioned by a friend, Oh I forgot what his name was. He was friends with the Explorers.’ Mr. Harris asked ‘What explorers are those?’ Deb explained, ‘No it was a bunch of young men called Explorers, whom lived near us when I was with my Bow. Most of them ended up in the tunnels for they were trying to save me. They got caught, so that is when I was transported here to you.’ Mr. Harris looked startled at Debra. He asked, ‘Will they still be there?’ ‘Oh probably’ uttered Deb, ‘That was only three weeks ago and they were put into extra security. Slaves are not allow out of there till well trained into surrender, in my mind anyways.’ ‘Yes,’ agreed Harris. ‘I will fix that right now.’ He looked at his watch and exclaimed, ‘Well maybe tomorrow, it is 12:30! Sorry for keeping you up, all very interesting! We will talk again tomorrow. I must sleep now. Thanks.’ Then Mr. Harris got up and beetled off to ready for the night.

… On this next day Deb had the day to herself. She did not even see Mr. Harris this morning, which she usually makes breakfast for. She remembered their conversation night before about fixing things. Deb did her normal routine and had time to text some people on the home phone which Harris said she could use if needed to. You see, she had her cell taken away in the tunnels.
… She tried texting Dye but again it said, number disconnected. She had text others but not an answer yet. So she got busy and did extra things about the home anticipating things to happen later.

Dishonest Work.
… Mr. Harris has set his mind to get the explorers out of tunnels. Then Debra can have her friends back, he thought. So Harris got a hold of office and talked to Walley. ‘Hi can I come talk to you or are you very busy?’ Walley answered, ‘No I am in Windshire today, another is filling in for me in Bain. What can I do for you Sir?’
… Now Harris heard one time Walley talking of being in tunnels, but Harris shied away from that. To him it was a ring of hoodlums taking people to jail so to shipped them into slavery, probably into dictators hands at that. Harris had to steer clear of dictator, for He had done wrong in past, by attempted to infiltrate dictator’s mansion and grounds. He was caught as well along with two others, but as things progressed, he was able to get out by the skin of his teeth. It’s not too hard to steer away from dictator for he has a mansion on island just offshore of this Windshire, the largest city about with a river within its perimeters.
… Harris informed, ‘Walley, I may ask you to help me but it is not honest work. It’s a rescue really.’ ‘Oh’ uttered Walley. ‘Who are we rescuing?’ ‘Oh, it’s a bunch of young men calling themselves the Explorers.’ What!’ screeched Walley. ‘Is that the group with Garr at head?’ Harries uttered ‘I’m not sure of that. I have a lady servant now, mainly because I’m trying to help the slaves. You know how it is.’ ‘Yes’ uttered Walley.
… Harris went on with, ‘So this lady told me of these Explorers and since they are her friends, I would like to help them also.’ Walley was beside himself, he asked. ‘Is this lady called Debra?’ Harris answered ‘Yes, how do you know that?’ Walley replied, ‘I was just with friends of Dye whom were all in the tunnels. Dye’s wife is called Debra. So you have her now?’ ‘Yes’ answered Harris. ‘I would like the whole bunch, for this Deb is an excellent worker and very sweet. She is a comfortable friend to go home to on those dark days.’ ‘Oh that is nice for you Sir.’ stated Walley.
… Walley went on with ‘Is the dictator bothering you?’ ‘No’ answered Harris. Walley reminded, ‘Well if you hear anything from him you call me right away, OK?’ ‘Yes I know Walley, and thank you.’ Walley agreed ‘OK, we rescued Dye the other day Sir.’ ‘Who is Dye again?’ asked Harris. ‘He is Debra’s Husband.’ answered Walley. ‘Oh good. She tells me many times she misses her fiancé. So you mean she is married?’ ‘Yes’ answered Walley, ‘that is what Dye told me.
… Walley continued with ‘He was staying with Explorers the last time I knew. Some Explorers did not get caught I guess. There are many of them.’ ‘Good’ uttered Harris, ‘could I get you to come with me and rescue the ones in tunnels?’ Walley answered ‘Well that is up to you sir. I am game and can get others to help also.’ ‘OK, can we go today?’ asked Harris. Walley replied ‘Well sir I am kind of busy today. Wait till weekend and others will come with us to help.’ ‘OK great.
… They paused thinking of all that was transpiring then Harris asked, ‘Where should I meet you sir?’ Walley replied, ‘Well I will be home in Bain, so meet me there and we will swing around and pick up others in your suburbs.’ ‘OK Great’ agreed Harris. Walley commented, ‘Sir you should name your land, it would make it better for people to know where they are.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Harris. ‘I will think upon that thanks. See you Saturday.’ ‘OK bye for now.’ And Harris flipped his cell. He had to think about that conversation for a while as he had stopped his car in mid journey.
… Well Harris did not know how to proceed, but he got up this morning and ran. Well he ended up going to work and meeting Walley and they made other arrangements for the morrow. He also called Debra and told her he would not be home till end of weekend. He was very busy, and he hoped to have a surprise for her next week.

Chapter 13.

Saved by Ad in Paper.
… Well Dye was back in a slump. He phoned Explorer Ted for he remembered Ted was not caught. He asked if they heard from Garr and the others, ‘No’ replied Ted. Dye explained, ‘OK I was just wondering of staying there with you, but I will try others.’ Ted agreed, ‘You can stay here but we may not be here. We work some days. Being only two of us here, not much time is spent at home. You know where the key is Right?’ ‘Yes thanks, I just need someplace to stay is all.’
… Dye was shying away of telling about fighting with his relative so He tried texting others who did not know him as well, but nobody was answering. Dye ended up phoning Chuck to ask how things were going there. ‘Not much’ replied Chuck. ‘Things seem to have settled down.’ Dye commented, ‘I was just looking for someplace to stay. I have been staying at my uncles but he was lying to me so I left. I’m not sure where to go now. If I have to can I come stay with you?’ ‘Sure,’ answered Chuck, ‘but that is a long ways to come. I can arrange something. Just call again when coming.’ OK thanks. I may come there soon. Bye now.’ and Dye hung up.

… Well Dye spent another night in the streets. He was not having any luck and was thoroughly disgusted with humans. He was starved and had not eaten for two days. He thought of going back to his Uncle Keen but he cringed at that. What can he do.
… Then as lying there in the cold wind he remembered the paper. He got up and sat in a corner cogitating. What was the place called. Cunning ham and Anemo? What was that name. Dye puzzled for a while then caught sight of the bum that gave him the piece of paper. He called ‘Hey you! wait!’
… He ran, for felt he had to get a hold of this one. He could not remember where that eating place was. He caught up with the bum but the guy thought Dye was going to fight him. Dye saw this and uttered, ‘No No I just want to remember the place I go for food. I’m so hungry Sir. Do you remember.’ ‘Oh yes its Corning Ham and Amber Ave.’ replied this Bum. ‘Oh good. I need to get there’ uttered Dye. ‘Sure come with me. It will take an hour sir, can you manage that?’ ‘OK I Will try.’ replied Dye who was weak and faint. The guy announced, ‘I have something for you.’ He dug in his pocket and uttered, ‘Here is a candy. That will stop the hot weak sweats that hunger brings.’ ‘Oh thank you Sir, replied Dye. ‘You come too please.’ ‘Yes I will, Replied the Bum, ‘It was cold out last night, so I am hungry today.’

… Its been a week since Dye text Ted Explorer. The Explorers of Ted and Bud were getting anxious. They have not heard from Garr and they have texted Dye a few times but he was not about. Then Explorers put ad in paper for missing persons and will pay 500 for any info.
… Well lady Betty at Harris home in Bain, knows Dye’s name and when she read this she phoned Ted. Betty told Ted that Dye has not been about for a few days. She was concerned as well. But then she replied, ‘As for these people called the Explorers, they are at Harris’s place in Windshire Sir.’ Oh expounded Ted. and what is the address there. Oh, it is Bangla St. and Astons Place. That is in Norther Belington, a suburb of Windshire Sir. Ted thanked her much commenting, ‘I will text you of whatever happens. If you see Dye tell him to stay there if you can. All will be righted soon. Thanks.’

… Ted tried texting Garr again and no answer. He decided to phone the number of the address Betty gave him, just to see who answered.
Well it was Debra who answered, ‘Oh Hi how are you doing. The person I work with said he would get the Explorers out of tunnels by this week. But I have not heard from him and he should be at work now. I do not know what is happening.’ Ted asked, ‘Should Bud and I come over there? We work today and could stop off after work. Would it be OK, and maybe we could get some food as in dinner there?’ Deb agreed, ‘Well maybe as my guests you may. I will ask. But if Harris is not home tonight come anyway. He is a nice person. Nice to me anyway. But he ventured to get others out of tunnels for my sake Ted. That is how nice he is. So you might as well come.’ ‘OK’ chimed Ted, ‘we will see you later. Oh, but I can’t get Dye yet. He has disappeared again. I will try again when I’m at work. Thanks, see you.’
… Ted hung up and was elated, he ran to Bud and explained, ‘I was just talking to Deb. We are invited over to where she keeps house for this person who saved her from the tunnels.’ Bud was finishing some papers for work and dropped them to listen. ‘Cool!’ uttered Bud, Ted quipped ‘But that is not all! Deb was telling me about this guy saving Explorers also. They are to be bringing them home next week.’ ‘Cool’ uttered Bud, even louder. Ted instructed ‘Come on, we have to get ready.’ ‘Why?’ questioned Bud. Ted explained, ‘Cause we are invited over to this place in Windshire where Deb is living. They will feed us well, after work.’ ‘Oh, that is cool. I am getting pretty hungry.’ stated Bud, ‘I hope they have saved Garr, he cooks better than anyone here.’
… Our two were both hungry for a good meal, for have not been eating right with nobody else there. So they hurried about before having to leave for work. They packed a change of clothing and hurried out to taxi, which was waiting them to go to work.
… Later after a long day Ted and Bud met up and headed off to address given them by Deb. They barely had enough money, for did not know how far this place would be by taxi. it was pretty far off into the posher hills of Windshire. Our two got more excited as they saw older city turn into newer city and into rich suburbs. Even the trees looked richer. The taxi dropped them off in front of this large gate. It was like a three width driveway. The man there asked ‘Yes, what can I do for you?’
… Our two had changed their clothing from working clothes which was good, for they may not have been let into this posh looking place. Ted answered Guy saying, ‘We were invited in by Debra the lady that works here.’ Gate man pushed button right away as saying, ‘Yes yes, all has been arranged.’ ‘Oh thanks’ uttered Ted thankfully. They had doubts if to be let in.
… The gate man explained, ‘walk up to the home and go right around to back door. That is where the workers work.’ ‘OK thank you Sir.’ Bud along with Ted went hurrying with delight just wondering what a wonderful place this would look like inside. Everything looked so neat that the plants looked artificial.

Dinner is Served.
… Well it took them 10 minutes just to walk to this home. They got to side home and heard dogs. They both stopped in concern but then saw dogs in large fenced in area. ‘Come’ uttered Ted, ‘its OK.’ Sure enough they got to back door and there were several persons running about in white clothing, as seen through a small window in the door there. Our two hesitated for there were three doors and only this one had a window. Suddenly one of the white people turned and ushered with his arms, to come on in. So Bud was first to open door.
… Well the smell was fantastic, and very warm, as it was evening time outdoors. ‘Come in and close the door please,’ said this guy in tall white hat. He had a walky-talky and called, ‘Debra, are you there? Come in Debra.’ She answered right away and our two had big smiles. Tall hat guy explained, ‘Your two friends are here at back door, should I send them up?’ ‘Yes, come on up Ted, I am waiting for you.’ Bud called ‘We are coming!’ And off they went, right through all the workers. They didn’t ask if to take their shoes off but they had nothing else to wear so lets go. Through another door and up the stairs they went.
… At the top of the stairs was another platform and door. it opened up into a large dining room that sat 12 persons. They know this for had to count the ornate chairs with all the curled wood on legs and backs. The two felt small as they viewed these chairs with nice blue velvet seats, and it looked like dinner was about to be served for there were three kinds of glasses along with all the plates and silverware. They heard a door open and close so felt to look up and there was Debra in a beautiful dress, looking like a queen. Ted uttered ‘Wow, were did you get that?’ Deb answered ‘Oh Harris gets me all kinds of good clothing. So much better than what I had to wear in those tunnels.’ ‘I bet’ exclaimed Ted, ‘that is beautiful material, you match the chairs here… but I like the color of rose on you better.’ ‘Thanks’ replied Deb. ‘Come in and use the washroom, we will be eating in a few minutes. And thanks for coming. Although this is a nice place I miss the people I knew before I was snatched.’
… Deb was going to the wine cabinet and asked, ‘Which wine do you like or do you like liquor better?’ Bud questioned, ‘Wine, you mean we can have wine?’ ‘Yes Harris often has wine for meals. Its better than water.’ ‘Fabulous’ exclaimed Ted, ‘I like a sweet red wine, thanks.’ Bud chimed in with, ‘Yeah I’ll have the same.’ and they went through the door Deb just came from to wash up for dinner.
… Even when the door was closed behind them you could still hear them chatter in delight of the situation. Deb smiled at that for this is her life now. She does enjoy this better than greens on paper but she misses Dye much. Well she was thankful for the Explorers, for it felt like Dye was that much closer, with them here.
… Deb went back to main kitchen to ask the cooks how much longer. Well they were just about to serve the meal. They kept most of this big meal aside, for if and when Harris came home but if that fails it goes back to servant kitchen, for the less fortunate. With this news Deb uttered, ‘OK I will ring the bell.’ So she grabbed one of the bells in corner and went through dining doors waving it in the air. Well our two boys came tumbling out of washroom to see what the heck was happening, for this was a sound they rarely heard. Deb explained ‘Lets sit, dinner will be here momentarily.’
… Well shortly after that, sure enough three guys in white clothes and top hats came in with carts, placing 6 platters on table. Within the platters revealed one at a time, were two types of meat, three types of veggies and a mile high platter of mashed potatoes. Not only that, the waiters went back to get many more platters of odds and ends. What a feast!
… Later they got more wine and out came three more trays full of small desserts of several kinds. All became friendly and the workers from kitchen came out and sat joining our group. Much laughter and enjoyment was had as the waiters told comical stories of their experiences in the public catering business. After that all settled with Tea Coffee or Coke and chatted of situations in this land.
… In a while there was a noise at front doors. Walley was first to enter front doors as the waiters were rushing to open doors. Our group stood from table as Walley and Harris made their way through the white clothed persons. Well they were shocked. Walley shrieked, ‘How did you get here? We dropped by your place but nobody was there.’ Ted smiled saying, ‘Well now you know why.’ Ha ha laughed Ted and Bud. Harris replied, ‘Well it is good to see you safe.’
… Well when our groups saw the rest of the explorers were present as well all became elated. They all stayed over night and in morning they were taken into Harris law buildings and adopted with Harris’s good lawyers Priene residing. Harris explained, ‘This is to keep you out of dictators hands, for Dictator will know whom were caught and hunt you down. So if asked at any time, say your last name is Harris and you will be safe.’
… Deb was elated as all but she was a bit subdued, cause Dye still was not with her. She did try phoning him but feels something is wrong. Harris saw Debra’s concern and went to her in the crowd. He asked, ‘Well you say he goes to Bain sometimes? Yes, if he wants to see his lawyers.’ replied Deb. Harris announced, ‘Well we should go there and I will show you my other buildings. Some of you Explorers, or I should say Harris’s could get jobs there if you wish.’ ‘Sure’ spoke up Bud. He has a job now, that he does not like. Besides most of the Explorers may have lost their jobs for have been away in tunnels.. Harris stated, ‘Yes, we will go to Bain on weekend, do all agree? In-fact some of you can live there if wish. There is ample room here or there.’ Garr asked, ‘It is OK if I stay here Sir?’ ‘Of course, you have a good job in this town so do stay here.’ Harris turned to Garr saying, ‘Yes but you as all should come to Bain, then you will be known there and can go there if need to.’ All agreed and continued their day.
… Garr wished to ask Harris another question as he stood beside him. Please Sir, I must ask you.’ ‘Yes go ahead.’ Garr explained, ‘There is an explorer who is not here at this time. He had been out to university much, but we are expecting him home soon.’ ‘Oh well he is welcome here as well.’ replied Harris. ‘Oh good and thank you sir. I will let him know. thanks.’ Harris went on speaking to others as Deb came up to Garr asking, ‘Who are you talking of?’ Garr smiled and answered ‘Patrick, you may not have met him yet. He has been away getting a degree or two.’ Debra smiled and they went on mingling and talking of the trip into Bain.

Chapter 14.

Again, Where is Dye? .
… Well he ended up on the streets again. But today it has snowed so he hopes to visit Betty’s place.
… After being near Explorers dwelling he ventured back to his old home. He had to get more socks for his new backpack, which holds much more. His socks get damp and his feet freeze, then he feels sick. It is mid winter and he is finding street life no good. His home was not much better with no walls, but he did get dry clothes on, for they were tucked under roof in large bags. He has to find a job also, for has used all his money.
… So off he goes now just as it starts to hail. ‘Oh boy.’ He walked as far as he could and called a taxi to take him to city limits of Bain. It is just too far. So with that he has used up all his moneys, but he knows the Eatery is about an hour away. Of course the taxi couldn’t take him there but He will make it.
… Dye was traveling by foot along one of main streets of Bain, when a car honked its horn at him. He was unsure who it was but then the car stopped up ahead and this guy got out. ‘Hi Dynamos, can I give you a ride?’ Well to Dyes surprise it was Keen Tass. Dye was hesitant from what happened, for he did holler at his uncle. But Keen came toward him with a big smile and gave him a big hug saying, ‘Come, you must be freezing. You can still stay at my place if you wish. There are reasons why I do as I do, Dye. Please do not be upset with me. You put me in a bad situation.’ Dye looked at him strangely.
… As they walked toward car Keen Tass continued with, ‘When one keeps there word they need to stick by that word. It is nothing against you Dye, in fact it is to protect you more than anything.’ Dye puzzled this. He asked, ‘How is keeping me from my dads inheritance, helping me?’ Keen and Dye got into car and Keen put heat up. It was noisy but they still talked on. Keen explained, ‘If dictator got wind of any of this, Your dad would be killed!’ Dye was in shock. ‘You mean my dad, is still alive?’ Keen said nothing but smiled. He leaned over and whisper, ‘Please… Please do not say a thing to even your closest friends. If you do all will be lost. Do you promise?’ ‘Yes for sure!’ Dye pretended to zip up his mouth and throw away the key. Then they were both silent.
… Mr. Tass started to drive and Dye stated, ‘I was on my way to Corning Ham and Amber Ave.’ … Suddenly, Keen Tass screeched the brakes to a full stop. He uttered with surprise, ‘You were?’ Dye wondered what the heck. He uttered in alarm, ‘Is there anything wrong with that?’ There was silence…
… Dye was confused but went on saying, ‘In the back they have an eatery for bums or others who are down on their luck. A couple of ladies work there, and are usually in courtyard dishing out food. They know me and I haven’t been there for over a week. I figure I should go and at least tell them I am OK. Is that wrong?’ ‘No No uttered Keen. ‘Have you met the gentleman who owns the place?’ Dye replied ‘No but Betty said, he was called Harris.’ ‘Well I’ll be!’ uttered Keen. Dye asked ‘Why don’t you come also, they welcome most in. They make good burgers too. Come and have something with me.’ ‘Alright!’ answered Keen.’ So Keen drove there and parked on the street. Dye took him around fencing perimeters and around to back. He pointed out, ‘See there is Betty and Freda. Come and say hi. I can tell them I found my Uncle.’ ‘Yes, OK’ and Keen Followed Dye into courtyard.
… As they were walking up Betty called, ‘Hi Keen, are you starving as well.’ and She laughed. Dye turned back to Keen suddenly asking, ‘You know her?’ Keen smiled and proceeded onward responding to Betty with a hug and, ‘Mmm… looks good alright. We will take two thanks.’ smile smile. The two followed Betty in as she was ushering them into the home. Dye commented quietly behind Keen, ‘More of my dad?’ Keen uttered, ‘later.’

… Betty not only took them into her quarters of living but on into main home. Well to all, what a surprise. There was Mr. Harris and all the Explorers. Dye was so thrilled. ‘You are here? How are you here? How did you get out? Who Saved you all?’ Garr stated, ‘Mr. Harris saved us and adopted us so we are now Harris folks. I would suggest you do the same Dye. It is a protection against the Dictator.’ Harris spoke up with, ‘Well that is not necessary, that is unless you wish to be a Harris.’ Dye thought for a moment and decided saying, ‘No my dad is a Tass and I wish to follow in his footsteps thanks.’ Harris just stood smiling.
… Just them Deb came out from the crowd in her beautiful dress and uttered ‘No, Mr. Harris is your Dad Dye!’ Dye stood there for a minute then fainted as others behind him grabbed him. They took him to a room and lay him down. Deb agreed, ‘I will watch him. You people go on with your partying. Thanks.’
… Deb stayed close to Dye for had not seen him in a long time. It was like 2 years now. So he awoke to her talking to him. Well that settled him instantly. He was so happy to be with her again. He uttered ‘We are going far away from here and start a new life. Do not trust any of those people. They are lying.’ Deb uttered ‘Sh… settled down. nobody is going far away, this is your family Dye. You do not turn your back on family, now do you?’
… Dye was quieted by the way Deb was speaking. Thus he had relaxed again and Deb kept talking in a soft low voice, telling him all that she knew. She ended up promising that they will overthrow the dictator and all of his men, but it will take a few years. ‘Ok’ said Dye, ‘What will we do?’ Deb went on with, ‘Oh there are many ideas and now that you are here you can contribute your ideas into the bundle. Walley knows much about what is happening in area. He has a lot of good ideas. Things I didn’t know of. You wait till you hear.’
Deb continued with glee, ‘You have two big mansions to live in now Dye. There is no more running away, Please.’ ‘OK,’ agreed Dye, ‘At least not in winter time. Haha.’
… As time went by and they were cooing with each, they smelt dinner cooking. How delightful, for Dye didn’t get that food he had come for, over an hour ago. But now being in his wife’s presence he has sort of forgotten all about that.

Facing the Truth.
… In a bit Debra instructed, ‘Now we will go out and I want you to speak to your father. Will you do that for me?’ ‘Well? I’m not sure who is who? How do you know he is on the good or even my father at all.’ Deb stated, ‘He rescued me and later the Explorers, simply because he knew it would make me happy. He is very kind person. Remember Dye, I have lived with him for weeks now. I know your father better than you do. Please trust me on this. Come meet my friend that saved me from Revenge and the Dictator.’ ‘OK’ agreed Dye. ‘Come,’ and Deb pulled Dye up and led him, by pulling his hand till he was in view of his father. Mr. Harris announced ‘Dynamos Tass, Please come talk to me.’ Harris got up and went to a door, opening it and ushering Dye within. He explained ‘Sit down my son. I wish to talk with you.’ They both settled quietly. Mr. Harris smiled and reached for a book which turned out to be a photo album.
… He instructed, ‘Come over here on couch and lets look into history.’ Dye followed him and gingerly sat on couch. It turned out to be a photo book of all pictures when Dye and parents were camping and on many other trips. Father went through pictures telling the year and the circumstances of each picture and Dye was mesmerized. Many were the pictures of when camping as a child. They even had pictures of the different dragon flies. And some of the pictures Dye remembers being taken too. Well Dye broke down and gave his father a big hug, sobbing on his shoulder. They huddled on couch for several minutes just remembering all the good times.
… Meanwhile Deb was outside and sitting patiently, but she was concerned you bet. There seemed to be no hollering, so she had hope. Well, her hope was fulfilled when they came out laughing about one of the pictures of son with the biggest fish he had ever caught. The size of a large sardine. Dye remembers how proud he was. What a figment. Ha-ha.
… Dad Promised Dye, that they would go out to a distant lake and do some real fishing. ‘It’s a deal but now we must eat.’ spoke Dye. ‘Indeed!’ answered Mr. Harris, ‘or you will be on that floor again.’ They both smiled at each and separated to get on with this party that was about to happen.
… After a good feast many things were talked of between all the people there. Harris called upon all of them to help him create his land of new. ‘If we can conquer thus, you will be among my top subjects and the Regime now in place will be no more.’ They cheered with drink and got on with desserts.
… Later Father caught up with Son and they sat in corner on a couple of comfy over-stuffed chairs. Father Harris said, ‘Son, I would like you to take some of my good builders and go back to area you have been living. We will build that area up first to your liking.’ ‘Oh’ uttered Dye, ‘Well I have no money and no job. Sorry … I have been pretty low lately.’ Father Terrance said, ‘You do not need money, I have lots. I will send 10 builders with you, and you make sure they are fed well, please. I know there are small shops of food there so make use of them yourself as well. We will make that park the central city area. That is also where main water line is.’ Dye was struck with awe. After some silence he asked, ‘How do we get lumber and tools out there. You know it is difficult to travel by cab and nobody knows their way around.’
… Mr. Harris said, ‘Son I will take care of all. Later it will all be arranged. Meanwhile just relax, and please eat more. You are too skinny for my liking.’ Dye smiled and Harris laughed. Just then Debra came by them and together they continued their conversation quietly. Harris said, ‘Yes and Debra, you accompany your hubby when he goes back please.’ She smiled and said, ‘Yes I certainly will, thanks, but I hope to see you soon.’ ‘Oh yes,’ uttered Terrance, ‘you can’t get rid of me that easily.’ Ha Ha.
… With that laughter and Dye being comforted by Debra’s presence, Dye dared to ask, ‘Sir… Dad, Why did you change your name? I found it very hard to find you.’ ‘Exactly’ answered Harris. ‘When hiding from a dictator who knows you well, when you change your name, it is hard to find you.’ As smiling Terrance said, ‘I was wrong to infiltrate Dictators mansion when I was young. It cost me much but my lawyer saved my bacon many times back then. And Walley over looks my situation, often as well. I have some good friends here. But to get back to the subject, Please Son I ask you to call me Harris even though you know differently.’ They all agreed as party went on for another hour.
… Later Dye saw Keen Tass sitting over on one of the couches in the lounge area, thus he quietly went to speak. Dye apologized saying, ‘Sorry Sir for hollering at you that time. I had much confusion of things then.’ Keen consoled ‘That is fine Dye. Welcome to the family. You may visit or stay at my place any time.’ Dynamos smiled sheepishly and sat near. He queried, ‘Yes and how did you get so rich Sir Tass?’ Keen replied ‘Oh you are rich also! Your father has much moneys and much land in area you have been living. You are actually living on your father’s land, and you didn’t even know it!’ They both laughed and cheered with glass of wine. Dye toasted quietly, ‘To the Harris or Tass family?’ Keen agreed, ‘Yes, stick about and you will know much more. There is lots happening and we need all the help we can get.’ Dye replied, ‘To the future!’ and this time the whole room cheered.
