Setting the Stage.
… A person back in civilization had put an ad in paper advertising a beautiful new land of plenty. As time went by people answered this ad for were enticed by the thought of restful surroundings. They also were enticed with helping to open these lands, for the ad said they would have a piece of the city once built.

(This is one of my first stories so beginning is slow.)

… An official person garbed in jumpsuit, gathered some of the higher-class citizens and picked a leader among them. It was all very organized so the group felt they were looked after. Most were looking for a retreat from their busy business lives, in near crowded corrupt cities. They hoped the description of these clearings, in the miles of wild woods, would give them the peace and quietness they wished.
…In their travels, they took car and rail to end of track then traveled by foot. The directions were two days northward along this winding path, then follow a river eastward for another two days. They picked their way along paths that were visible at times, but only animal trails at other times. They came through many forests and swampy areas, before finding tamer land.
…Many had made friends and formed smaller groups along the way, and as they continued by foot following directions that were kind of vague, each group came to a clearing they found satisfactory. With some good trees for shelter and a clear area for building, they dropped out of the larger group to start their new lives.

Chapter One … Rescuing Rescuers.

Duels Family
.
… After making a long trek over many miles, they found a clearing in a small meadow. When Opra first saw this land she was anxious to explore. She in her maid attire only paused a minute with the others then went into heart of clearing and stood in thought saying, here our crops would grow nicely. Opus, Randy and Nelly soon followed her and with all this garden enthusiasm they will probably create a large veggie garden.
… Some in garden area are discussing the variety of seeds each brought from home. But one called Polla complained for she did not wish to plant. This did not alter the other’s plans to plant right away. Polla replied with, ‘Why do we have to toil in soil?’ Another lady in her gray shorts named Nelly, answered saying, ‘There is so much food we can grow. We need to start now for this is growing season, the best time of year.’ Opus in red agreed, while near by Randy thought on. With that, Maid Opra was off at a good pace to find plants for their garden. Randy watched and wondered where Opra was going, as she went beyond their garden and off in another direction? While this was happening the ones in garden agreed to get more variety of seeds.
… In another area, Niles in green was snooping about the long grasses of clearing, when he came upon a phone! He called out and several came. They stood there wondering who would leave a phone out in a grassy field as this? Further more, how would anybody find it in the tall grass? It was only by accident, Niles found this phone! When Niles picked up the receiver the line was alive! The operator asked what was wished, so Niles ordered a bus. … Well it was a rough ride, but this old smelly bus got them to an area that had produce and many seeds.

The Market.
… The shack they viewed offered very little shelter from the sun. The roof was open with gaping holes, so produce was not great. It is obvious not many people come here, for area is so overgrown and the rotting leaning shack is about to fall over. Nelly was last to get to this shack, for was talking with hired help. She found out that the few people in area are from other towns, for either can’t get work or wanted to run from their old lives.
… As standing in the doorway of this shack, Nelly watched the bees flying in and out, as a mouse was scurrying by her feet. She thought, well I guess this is a retreat, ‘NOT’. It looks like a lot of work to me. I don’t think our organizer told us truths.
… While at market we see Maid Opra has lousy direction. She was asked to buy seeds and she went in and out to outhouse area and now is at top of hill overlooking shack … for second time! Do not ask her for directions. She seems to have very few brains in that strawberry blond hair of hers.
… After bus took them back to their clearing, of which it took three attempts to find, our people wandered into their land. Opus in red stayed on dirt path as he wondered; how do I get these people to follow me? This area is raw … will I survive? Of course, but others?
Opus then looked beyond their land and wondered what was further down the dirt path? Then he hesitated, thinking; this is a marvelous clearing. I don’t want to be sunk by meeting an animal that might eat me. I will stay here for now. As he looked back into clearing he thought, we should name this area after our leader Niles.
… Later on main path Phil found a flyer from a near town, and called out. This drew some near, including Opus who talked to Niles as they gathered about papers. Opus explained, ‘If we call this path Niles Crescent, then the bus will find our lot easier? Niles smiled and accepted. So along Nile’s Crescent, Phil in red had paper but it rained earlier so he was going to throw the soggy mess out. Nelly stopped him for she wished work and after a discussion she got the paper. After carefully looking through its 3 pages, Nelly landed the first job. Later Maid Opra and Opus got work as well and the three workers decided to appoint the non-workers of Phil and Polla, to water the garden, while Randy and Robyn were to plant seeds. While this was happening Niles had gone to Randy who was behind outhouse. Randy enjoyed their chat for he is looking for a way to get chummy with the ladies. But it was actually Nelly they were talking of.
Near Niles and Randy, stands Polla with her back towards them. She is listening intently for wants to know what the guys are up too. Polla is a man hunter in her long silky attire. Now Niles, who is to be leading this group, should know better than to gossip. Some looked down on him in the very first days, but later he did get work.

Buttles Family.
… An anonymous person gathered this bunch of people, to come and make lands inhabitable. (Will this person come when land is cultivated or did this one come with the group?) Finally they found a clearing, and decided out of hunger and tiredness mostly, ‘Yes, this is the place we will rest.’ They found many white trunked trees and saw small birds finding food there. Most agreed their home should be built among life. So on this glorious spring day, they gathered and made plans of what to do next. With a sharp tool from homeland, they downed a tree and built a kind of shelter for the new excavation, where belongings would be kept. Now they will spend time getting used to this land, but they knew they must get jobs somewhere, for money will be needed. Later we see Len and Jess the appointed leader, behind outhouse gossiping, as Judy in long dress spots some garbage on ground. She immediately picked it up and is putting it out front in designated garbage area. She is one of higher standards.
… As this early spring morn wore on, all attempted to trash the damp paper near the main path on White Birch Lane. This paper is their ticket to freedom and was recently hurled onto their land. It lists 3-4 jobs from other towns about area.
… Later in day, Len did get work and he is now the sole money-maker here. Others were not too keen on jobs and now it is too late in day to phone. Since deliveries were said to be rare, they may get another paper tomorrow or sometime? Then, while some went into fields discussing garden, Judy in long dress saw this fellow and had to go talk. On front path she found out he was Gor from a near by hospital. This intrigued her for she had often felt a need to help people as this. Out in their land that was very overgrown, some started to dig up dirt. But with Bermuda grass and Morning Glory vines along with some welcomed vines as Blackberries and a few odd Huckleberry bushes, this land was a jungle. Len who has only job is also out there helping. He stated ‘Folks, this may be the land that will provide the food to save our lives with some day.’ In the midst of this we see Jess gossiping to Kate. This guy is their leader and he will be ousted quickly if there are fights started by him. (When leader, you do not pick sides or you have wars.) While some are gardening and gossiping, 4 are studying on a log by a pile of books. Then a stranger went along White Birch lane. This lady saw our gang huddled and arguing around the outhouse. What sort of party is this, she thought. This stranger looks of royalty, and is probably rich in her homeland. I wonder what group she is from?
… Later, Kate and Len are talking of relationships and comfort, while others are resting in the grasses. They know there is a bus of sorts and they will ask driver about furniture shops. But at this point it is late and its time to sleep. Who can sleep on cold damp ground in lands they are unfamiliar with?
…On this one day, Lisa told others of another clearing she saw, after walking an hour. She continued, ‘This old man was near pathway of Pine Lane and he was in pain or something. He did not see me, but I didn’t stay for he stunk awful. They seem to be in much the same situation as we, No food! But I am so tired right now. Maybe I shouldn’t have walked that far?’ Lisa informed, ‘We have to name our path here. Has anyone found a sign yet?’ As she stared at another she almost fell to ground in a sleep. Soon all three nodded off when finding a trunk to lean against. If you can sleep on an empty stomach it is better to get rest than to struggle to stay awake.

Abbot Family.
… In a clearing with some cherry trees, they stopped to rest. With some chatting and questions, they looked around and saw a wooden sign off to one side. When they read the sign that read ‘Darling Way’ the ladies wanted to stay on this lot. It is early spring in this land, and there is much to be tamed to what they think is cultured. In their travels they saw hills but no water. This will be OK, for they know to gather water droplets in early morn for a drink.
… In this nice breezy cool afternoon they rest after the long hike. Some lay in the grasses that were blowing back and forth, while others sat and viewed the trees about. Bit later some found a phone, old and stained with weather. It had a cord but grass was so overgrown, they didn’t know where cord went. As investigating, a couple of this team ventured into the trees and found a barrel. They brought it into clearing and thought to put phone on top, so at least they can find the phone when needed! Upon checking phone, they found it was plugged in but the connection was almost unheard of.
… After some time on phone, the one who had the receiver informed, ‘Someone is sending a courtesy shuttle to pick us up.’ Our group was very happy that they have a way to communicate. This is a big hurdle over with. Bart stated ‘Wherever they take us, we will look for food and seeds. It will be a start.’ Then all raised their arms in cheer. While waiting for shuttle they wondered who was coming, but felt with 8 of them, there would be no trouble. When the rusty clunky bus did come to a stop, Debby did not know if she wished to go and was last aboard.
The driver was old but sharp-witted. He was doing his job and worked for another town to the south, called Banster. He stated, ‘There are many busses there, but they put me here where there are no people? I may weave a bit but I always get my customers to their destination… So where to?’
… Twins Butch and Bart spoke at same time, but Bart asked where there was food. Driver agreed, ‘OK… I will take you there. It is half an hour away, but a co-worker of mine works there and it will be nice to chat a bit. … Now sit down and hang on. Watch for sharp edges please, I have no Band-Aids here. There are many potholes in these dirt roads, so it will be a rough ride. It’s a wonder this old bus doesn’t fall apart. Luckily I rarely make this trip.’
…Finally after being shaken about, our people were glad to leave the contraption they bounced in. But in this clearing was found a shed that was a wonder in itself. There were holes in roof and the doors would not shut properly. The floors were of ornate tiling but very worn where people pass daily. Bart thought then uttered quietly. ‘This is where we are to get food to eat?’ They spent half an hour at food shack and did find seeds but did not partake of food. The ride home was not as long or unbearable, but the bus driver dropped them off on Pine Lane several miles in wrong direction. He commented, ‘You must name area and put it on map at market. Then we know where abouts you live.’
…After bus rattled away our Abbot group all walked while talking quietly saying, ‘We will not make that trip often. It is nice to be back in our wild grass and trees.’ As day wore on it got windier but it was kind of fun. Most did not wish to do much but rest. Bart and Butch the twins were foraging near the pathway called Darling Way as the ladies found the sign. But with that, Butch spoke to Bart of changing it. Butch commented to Bart, ‘Our area should be called Windy Hollow.’ Bart replied ‘Or Wind Swept trails.’ As walking to other side of clearing Butch stated, ‘Why don’t we call this smaller path here, Windy Hollow and the other path there can stay as Darling Way?’
… The few that were at front also came upon a paper in the tall grass, so they called others but most did not hear. It was too windy, so Butch and Bart smiled at each other as Bart looked in this 3-page paper for jobs. It turned out that he was able to get the first job. Bart with the constant reminder from his brother, tends to put on a good show of leadership.
… Later we find that Bart, Debby and Butch were the ones able to get work, although Debby almost didn’t. Phone was so bad, people on other end thought Debby was asking for dog traps. She happened to go for phone just before line went dead, so she went this morning to interview with others, and in person got work. But the jobs they got in animal-husbandry don’t pay much, so it may be tough going for a while. After workers got home Cindy approached our three at front path of Darling Way. Under this big old oak she listened for a bit and heard Butch and Bart gossiping. She heard them say that they would call this path Windy Hollow. Then Cindy heard them talk of keeping most of the money and running this place for themselves. Cindy thought, These brothers seem to be teaming up, and with no chairs to sleep on and very little food, what are the rest of the people going to do here? Debby may have to keep the rest of us alive, but who knows what else the B-Brothers are scheming. Well, the next day Dell, Cindy and Clarence the overseer, had gathered to plant crops, as transportation was to come for workers. Things have become organized here, but not due to the brothers.
Some wished a lazy life, like Dell.
* He being a hippie type felt farming a few years would be easier than the daily grind of making it to work on time.
* Clarence being one who watches people, felt he should be into crop planting. After all, an open field is an excellent place for observation.
* Cindy is the third wheel and wished to be in nature so these are the three gardeners.
With growing season coming to its peak they should be quite busy soon.

Castello Family.
… For this trip Fifi gathered together two of her subjects and came here along with others. Not all here know Fifi as Queen. Hilda is an outgoing lady and was first to explore clearing, while Harold and Flint stuck together. These two I believe are brothers and twins to boot. They dress alike, both in yellow shorts and wear same hair-do. Then in her long white dress, there is Lady Fifi, who is on main path just watching all.
… The top questions on ones mind when arriving to a wild area are, where and what to eat and how to shelter oneself from wilderness. We see Hilda talking to Flint about survival. She instructed, ‘The first thing we need is food and next would be shelter, although it is summer and still pretty warm.’ Flint agreed as Harold watched him. Harold then suggested, ‘We could find out if there is a place open to buy stuff.’ Jill with red hair replied ‘Yes, but where would we put the food and stuff?’ Then Girth in green agreed ‘Yes the small animals would eat our food before we knew it. We have no protection here.’ As all huddled about the dirt path, which led into clearing, there was a phone seen at the base of this tall clump of grass. Some wanted to phone to ask questions while Fifi looked at phone and walked on. Where was she going? The old man Ian, in his dark dingy hat, just listened … then spoke, ‘I will phone operator. I wonder if the phone is even plugged in?’ He bent over and lifted the receiver when a lady’s voice said ‘Yes, Where would you like to go?’ Ian uttered ‘Oh…’ as he turned to Harold saying, ‘It does work!’ When Fifi heard this she went even further away? Still apart, Fifi is obviously queen like and must be ruler here. But the one called Elly, with hair pinned in a bun, just stood observing. She stays back from others as well, but always seemed to have a frown, thus not many people asked her things.
… When the bus finally did come all got on. The twins were late and seemed to be making plans. These twins Flint and Harold seemed to be leading or at least being looked upon for advice. Maybe it’s the bright colors they wore? After a rough ride in clouds of dust, Elly in gray ran from bus towards this shack. Maybe she saw a large animal in clearing? There are many creatures about and in the tall grasses that grow near, the wildlife can be very close and not detected. As they got inside this shack the twins wished all to buy seeds but Fifi for one, disagreed. While in shack she glanced at the candles and felt they would benefit by fire.
… In another area Fifi met Girth and talked of gardening while looking at the barrel of seeds. Fifi likes flowers but the seeds are not good here. She explained, ‘Back home I grew many exotic flowers of tiptop condition. I won many prizes and awards. This land is not good for planting.’ Girth replied, ‘Yes… this land is natural. We overfeed plants to make them grow beyond. With that, Fifi went out into market’s small lot and managed to find some flowering bushes. Later on trip home, she got these bushes to their clearing in good shape. She asked Hilda to help plant them right away, and then felt, at least she brought something to their lot of nothing.
… A bit later blond-haired Hilda in her blue top got a job from local flyer. When Fifi asked others to get work, nobody else bothered and soon it was too late. Fifi went to Hilda and thanked her for helping out. ‘With bus driver asking where we lived, I would like to call this area Hilda’s Plateau, would that be OK with you dear?’ Hilda smiled agreeing, ‘Oh that is a privilege, Sure.’ Fifi stated, ‘That’s for helping out here dear, thanks.’
… On another day they went to market and got three new chairs. When they got home and arranged chairs in a comfortable area, Ian the older man in hat had fallen asleep there. When others saw this, they left him to rest. Their journey was a long hike, even for the healthy young people. Ian is their appointed leader at this point, but they will be prepared later to pick another. They designated Jill and Elly to plant and water what others had planted earlier.

Chapter Two … Rescuing Rescuers.

Duels – Daily Grind.
… The first week was tough with much gossiping but very little furniture. When they got more money they went to market and were able to buy three crude sleeping chairs. They could probably have made these themselves, but they have no tools. Well … with 8 people needing sleep, the arguments proceeded. After a day of this, leader Niles decided that workers have nap priority. As time went by and summer progressed, there were many pests as in skunks, badgers, raccoons and others. These people had to endure these hardships the best way they could, even if they took a stick and charged after the problem. Crops were sparse at times, for it was an open banqueting hall for these sneaky pests, that literally rule this wildland. But with Randy following the girls instead of helping with garden and Robyn stomping out the veggie garden for no apparent reason, its no wonder food is scares. This is unforgivable, for it is their livelihood. They will see at least, that she plants much more than others.
… In this second week our three workers are off to work in local town’s mail room to the east, called Shanto. We also see the four gardeners getting up early for the daily chores at hand. The garden with its lush green seedlings will bring much money, and with this, our group will probably build a large home, maybe for future kings or queens. All are enthused this day, and even Polla is weeding in the glorious rays of the morning sun. If you remember, she with her long white hair and silky attire did not want to garden. She is only interested in what the men are doing. Now she is on her hands and knees among the young plants, weeding along side of Phil in red. Niles in green was the leader of this lot but with his antics of trashing paper and not being there to help plant, he has been dubbed the Joe-Boy. Now he must keep place clean and feed the workers. He is also last to sleep till he has a sleeping chair of his own. Shortly after this we see Randy and Robyn having words. Randy may be a ladies man but he is a wise man, also. He knows which ladies to follow!
… One day in second month, Melda Buttles went by, and saw a large garden, all planted and growing well. She thought, my group should do the same! Then she wandered off. But with all the people walking by, Nile’s interest was spiked.
… Next day he came home late, and told others he had gone on a walkabout. He told them of this place where Jess was lead-hand. Niles informed ‘These people have 4 couches, for one of their ladies won money. They are far better off than we! I will check phone, for that is how they got rich.’ As that was happening, Polla and Robyn were fighting over the brand new and only couch. But it is spring… the birds are singing. The crops are growing. What could be better?
… Opus went running, when he heard the fight. He calmed them down and replied, ‘In a day or two we will have more sleeping stations, but for now money is short. Please be patient.’ Then he thought, Where is our leader Niles? Is he not supposed to keep things in order here? Then Opus realized that he was in control of this lot, much more than Niles. Maybe Niles is just ignoring them? But he is our leader!

Walking the Hills.
… On another day, Opus was exercising, walking up the hills in back of clearing. Then as standing to catch his breath, he saw Maid Opra coming up. ‘Oh, this is marvelous exercise,’ Opus told her. Opra exclaimed, ‘Zoinks I know. If I don’t get exercise, when I do find work I’ll not be in shape!’ ‘Yes’ agreed Opus, ‘Good thinking.‘ (I guess Opra lost her job?) On the way down Opus saw Niles coming for a climb. As Opus walked by he thought, well Niles is not all dense. He has the same idea. (Actually, Niles was on his way to talk to Maid Opra. But we need not tell him he’s exercising.)
… Niles and Opus are very much alike, but tend to avoid one another. I feel they both wish rule here. It may turn out to be a vote from others to decide. Niles just happened to be the one that was chosen when they ventured upon this journey. Often when Opus was at work, Niles seemed to take control. He may have an inferiority complex when Opus is about? He may feel that Opus is more suited to lead. Besides, there are rumors that Opus is a to-be king.
… We look two days later and see Phil sitting on couch in his red top and sunglasses. Phil spends much time alone and is often in his own world. I feel he longs to get back into his mechanic work of past. He is one who tends to hide his feelings. That’s why the sun glasses, for the sun is not out today. Later Niles talked to the ladies that were watering garden. He explained, ‘This garden will give us life if we give it life.’ Niles also talked of the ‘Ever More’ winding paths and how they will have a banqueting hall on this lot. He stipulated, ‘We will build a castle for royalty, so chill and help out when you can please. We will all get better jobs, for I was sent a survey of better businesses. The towns are growing much and we need to study to get the higher positions. Please learn while you can.
… Nelly has her routine in this make shift life. It shows organization skills on her part. When she got home she looked in paper for better job then went to kitchen to have a snack before bed. Meanwhile, Polla who was said to have much organization skills is sleeping on ground near reading area? There are sleeping chairs available? Maybe the stress is getting to her? Niles has not eaten, but left the food for others. He is considerate of his group. He may not have as many brains as Opus but he has his worth. Meanwhile Randy and Nelly have become friends. This is rare among strangers. They are talking intently here of universe and peace with nature.

Skunk.
… As time went by many things happened. Once Opus almost walked on a skunk so the little critter sprayed him. Opus does not have many friends now for there is no shower here. At the scene of the spray, Polla being right there let out a scream and came to Opus’s rescue. She tried to cheer him up but it turned out to be the wrong thing to do. Now Polla has wiped her hands of his stench. She got up and got out of area.
… These people are better than other groups, for care for garden well. With that they deserve a large garden and good jobs. This early morning, Maid Opra longed to be helpful. She feels guilty that she does not have work now and felt the working people have got to keep up their strength, so she got up to harvested food for breakfast. She wandered about garden checking for food, but after the recent harvest not much was found. Later after they ate, Phil and Nelly are seen out in garden. They were seriously talking of their lot. Nelly stated, ‘There needs to be many more crops planted. We will never make this lot a land of plenty, if we do not get better jobs.’ Phil stood there and agreed, with a question.

Buttles – Daily Grind.
… Later first week, we find this group takes their hunger pains out on crops. Is this a death wish?
… Even into the next day, some continued to pull seedlings out! Len had said earlier ‘Fencing goes up first thing, I insist on that.’ They have to wait for crops to mature before they can eat, for in that way you get three times as much. Crops are only source of food at this point. Next week it took all their money to build fencing about garden. There is no food but Len will have to scrounge a snack before work tomorrow. Because he has a job, his life may be saved, and this is only in early 3rd week. But several days later, all got to eat thanks to Len’s job. Next week crops will be ready for the long awaited harvest. They must look into getting a counter to serve food on, for some do not like eating ants.

Mick and Kate.
… Mick often stands alone. He is a thinker on his level. He may run this place, although Len has same ideas. With the mounds of garbage lying about, you would not think anyone has brains here, but that is their life in the first few months. (I hope garbage incinerators are available soon.)
… In next week Mick went to garden and found Kate planting and harvesting crops. He thanked her and she replied, ‘I tell no lie, when I wish we had a chair or two and maybe a TV?’ Mick replied, ’For sure, I will put in a good word for you. It depends on our leader though.’ Mick went on with, ‘I feel he is too old for his position. I’m going to ask the others about this.’ ‘True’ agreed Kate, ‘I know what you mean. Jess seems to be muttering and off in his own world lately, but this may be hunger. We are all pretty hungry and often I feel quite dizzy. I will get this food in cooling cabinet so the bugs won’t eat the leaves any longer. I hope there is enough ice there… In a bit we can fix a meal for when Len returns home.

Abbots – Daily Grind – The Magic Mushroom Group.

… Later Bell met Judy Buttles on their path of Darling Way. Judy wears long dress with vibrant colors. Bell thought, She knows how to dress well! This eased Bell’s mind, for it was nice to speak with a civilized lady. They parted good friends. In another corner of the grass Cindy found some magic mushrooms. She thought, Well, long grass is good for something, maybe I’ll keep this place a secret. She had a good night even though no sleep.
… Later one night on path of Windy Hollow, Mick Buttles came by and Angela was taken back by this tall handsome guy. Although he does not look her type, with him looking as a strong fellow, she felt he could protect her from the wild animals. She anticipated a good friendship, but when they ventured into conversation the tide changed. No friendship here! Both were upset by the time he turned and stormed off. Later when most were sleeping, Angela got into crops and pulled out many. I guess her talk with Mick bothered her much. Is it love at first fight? Well the next day the others agreed, they will not work hard to correct her mistake. She will have to plant many more. As the next day ventured on, the wind died down. A nicer car had come for the workers and their hearts were uplifted. Maybe there is some hope for a nice city here. When workers got home this night they had bought a fridge. Although kitchen was a part wall only, after selling the cold storage yesterday they had just enough for the fridge. Now they live in luxury. Cindy fought Dell then later fought Clarence. She seems to be a troublemaker. Now, Cindy is near her two enemies on new couch, and she is complaining and waving her arms in air as if she were talking to God, asking why he was punishing her so. Ha-Ha.
… On another cold dull day, Dell was to be cleaning kitchen, but he does not wish to help much. Being a hippie he likes his freedom. He saw this lady walking by on Windy Hollow and felt he should go talk. He greeted her saying, ‘Hi’ and then went into much complaining.
Now Nelly Duels who he was talking to, knows very well the hardships of this land. She stood there kind of disgusted with his Wimpish tears. Then he boasted of his weight lifting equipment back in his hometown. With this Nelly was put out and it seemed to be getting colder, so she left with a glare. Bit later, others were sleeping while Cindy was trying to find scraps in fridge. She found little, but then Dell came back from talking to Nelly. Cindy questioned, ‘Why are you disturbing the people that go by? Leave them and clean the kitchen area. It is your turn!’ She then turned and went to sleeping area. They settled for the night.

Castello’s – Daily Grind.
… Moods are foul and its not even end of first month here. Harold watched Fifi walk by while he pulled flowers from stems. Maybe he does not like her? Fifi was very insulted for she loves flowers. So she appointed Harold to care for all flower gardens. On the other hand Jill with red hair is seen coming down the dirt path of Hilda Plateau, with garbage. She wished to help all, including neighbors. She felt it was a way to get out of her immediate anguish. (This is not like home!)
… One time there is Hilda, Jill and Flint standing about sleeping chairs where Ian the old man sleeps. Flint talked about lazy people and Hilda did not like that. She spoke saying, ‘He is old and does not have the strength we have. You should be more respectful of older people Sir.’ Jill in red hair is just standing listening. (She does a lot of that)
… Later one evening Flint Castello was found dead on road. I guess one of the three vehicles of area could not see him in the dark, and hit him. It turned out he is badly wounded and probably will not survive. Harold his twin is going to miss him most. He vows to be a traffic cop or something, and put people in jail if they go about without lights on. A bit later along the path, we see Harold who is about to talk to Bell Abbot, a guard from another lot. But in foreground there was some shoving by Hilda and Girth. Girth was Flint’s best friend so he is not in a good mood. Then the older guy Ian is seen walking away from the bunch of rowdies. He doesn’t do much, for hunger is the main theme here, which is not good for older people.

Chapter Three .. Rescuing Rescuers.

Duels – Hard Blows.
… Nelly read yesterday that other towns are wishing more people, so when paper was finally found on Niles Crescent today, they got better jobs. Our group is doing very well with again three jobs, and now has several hundred stashed away under lock-and-key in back of market. This is the only bank of area, but most visit market regularly so this location is very convenient.
… One evening Maid Opra was studying when Opus came along. He could not sleep so they chatted a bit. Opra stated, ‘One of these times I will get a good job. I am tired of being treated secondhand here.’ Opus replied ‘No, you are doing well. You do work now, and keeping this area in order is a job in its self.’ ‘Zoinks’ uttered Opra. ‘I do not feel so. I will show Niles I’m worthy, You wait.’ Opus quietly commented ‘Well dear it is late and I will turn in again. Do not stay up all night, you need sleep to work and study.’ ‘Yeah-yeah’ uttered Opra, as she went on reading her book. In this early morn as most awoke, Niles asked Randy, ‘Have you seen Opra, she seems to be missing?’ Randy uttered, ‘That’s a shocker, The last person I saw her with was Opus but he is still sleeping.’ Niles questioned, ‘I wonder if they had a fight?’
… Polla and Nelly were sitting near and when Polla heard this she became alert and thought, ‘I should have been there! Maybe I would have gone with her? Darn! Maybe I will leave tonight? On other hand Nelly answered Niles saying, ‘Really! Maybe she got lost?’ Although Polla is friends with Niles, he is having second thoughts. She who will not plant and only wishes to talk to the guys seems to be a lazy man hunter. She is into fashion but again it is for the guys only. If she gets smarts, she told that she may go into office work, but she seems to always look for a chance to be a family gal. Polla has fought with many here and is on thin ice, but because she’s a friend with Niles, most will not say much. Niles heard her fighting this time, and had to chill a minute. He is questioning their friendship. Niles is only human and when one is unjust to him, he will not befriend them. Then there is Opus who wishes people would follow him. He’s thinking he should just leave, for he feels others will come when he makes progress in building. He realizes this is one thing people are not doing here. There are no buildings yet, at all! He spoke to Polla as a last resort but made her mad, so he will not be taking her with him. He will be leaving very soon for sure!
… Niles and Polla have often been seen along Niles Crescent talking. Although they have a friendship going I think Polla just wants to be in the know. Later one evening Polla talked to Randy and he ended up crying. What Polla told Randy was Niles and she, were going off to their own lot very soon. She was just waiting for a sign from Niles. Now there is Randy, who felt he was the man for all ladies, but things have not been going his way. One by one the ladies here have either fought or shunned him. Randy had thought Polla might see his point of view. But now it looks as if Randy has been flattened. On the other hand, Niles spent much time thinking of future days. He is their leader here but not much appreciated. He went on thinking…. Am I just to leave this place? It’s set up sort of and several have good jobs. If I move away I may not be able to get my old job back. Besides, just the time it will take to find another area suited to settle upon, will take a week or more. He went on thinking, Maybe others will wish to leave also. But most do not want me here. I have done wrong in past this is true. But I do not think I am that bad? Then Niles, realizing what time it was, napped. As Niles naps, we see Polla come and watch over him.

In The Garden.
… Few days later we see Opus and Randy in garden near Niles Crescent. Randy, watching Opus pick up the hoe to ready earth commented, ‘Nice day for planting.’ Opus upon hoeing agreed ‘Yes, spring is in the air. I love to plant in springtime.’ ‘Yes’ replied Randy. That’s a good deal. I love planting most of times. I feel there is not much need for planting here though.’ ‘Oh?’ asked Opus. ‘Yes’ answered Randy. ‘They all have good paying jobs and that is a start, but I was wishing a partnership with a lady, and in this place I’ve got a bad deal and find nothing.’ ‘Well’ spoke Opus, ‘that is like me. Its not ladies I wish but people to help me with my dreams.’ ‘Oh?’ asked Randy, ‘and what is that, your castle?’ ‘Yes, you remember hey!’ ‘Yes’ replied Randy, ‘it sounds like a good deal to me. Could I help?’ Opus uttered ‘That’s marvelous! You are the only one who has volunteered to help. I thank you Sir. When do you think we should go?’ ‘I’m ready’ answered Randy, ‘any time for me, but it is your decision Sir.’ As Opus chuckled Randy smiled, for he did not remember Opus with such a happy face. Then Randy spoke up and explained, ‘The deal is, I will help you Sir if later I can have a lady or two come onto your lot.’ ‘Ok’ answered Opus, ‘That’s a deal. We will leave after next harvest. Then we will have some food to take with us.’ ‘Good idea. Here, I will help you plant more now.’ And off they went on a planting frenzy thinking of all the new opportunities that are before them.
… After some time and planting many seeds Randy and Opus stood there resting. They then heard water running. … Opus turned and there was Robyn watering the crops near them. Opus blurted out, ‘Oh Marvelous Robyn! It is good somebody still cares for gardening or we would be sunk. If you like, Randy and I are going to another clearing and will be building a castle to live in. You could come and keep the castle for us? There will be much beauty in a more cultured way.’ ‘Once in a Blue Moon!’ exclaimed Robyn. ‘That sounds great to me! When are you going?’ ‘Oh I’m not sure’ commented Opus. ‘I wanted to leave with produce so it would be next harvest.’ Robyn uttered, ‘That’s a crock, there is much harvest here now. Look!’ As she lifted the branches of the tomato plants near her, she instructed, ‘You have to look under the foliage for the fruit. See all the cherry tomatoes on this one bush alone!’ ‘Wow’ shrieked Randy. ‘That’s a shocker! We have a harvest now Sir! Let’s help others harvest and leave tomorrow.’ ‘Well’ explained Opus, ‘if weather is good, we could go tomorrow, I guess?’ Robyn explained, ‘I will speak to others and if they agree I will come also.’ Opus smiled at her and walked on. He was going to tell Niles of the harvest they have on this cool spring day. This left Randy and Robyn in the garden who were looking at each other strangely, then there came a smile. They have not gotten on in past but maybe if each minds their manners and helps in the cause, there will be little trouble.
… Shortly after garden scene Opus did find Niles in kitchen area getting ready to go to work. Opus told Niles of their plans and thanked him for keeping things together. Opus explained, ‘We have to travel for a bit so if it is OK with you, we will harvest and go to market later today. I will keep some for our trip.’ ‘Well’ answered Niles. Opus interrupted with, ‘We have just planted more seeds for you as well Sir.’ Niles thought for a moment but was concerned, for he wished all to stay together. Opus saw his concern and replied ‘Well, we will be going off sometime, whether you want us to or not. We are not tied here Sir, I’m just offering you help before we leave, that is all.’ Niles asked, ‘Do the others want to go or are you making them go?’ Opus shocked uttered, ‘What! I would not make anyone go anywhere Sir! I will speak to them again, and we will see when we leave!’ Opus was hurt by Niles insinuation, so walked away. The car was waiting for Niles to take him to work so he walked away also. As leaving Niles, Opus thought, and they are the ones who have much money coming in. We are actually doing them a favor for we bring in very little. As he walked towards garden he thought, maybe we should harvest some crops for ourselves and leave, Why not? As Opus approached garden, Robyn informed ‘Well, we will just pick some for our trip and leave right away. It is early this day and we can get a good start.’ ‘I’m not sure of this deal?’ hesitated Randy, ‘I am very tired right now.’
‘Oh’ you’re OK! answered Opus, ‘the walk in woods will give you much energy. Come, let us set out this morning.’ ‘Good’ agreed Robyn and they busied themselves with harvest and packing blankets and such.
… While that was happening, in a corner near garden, Randy decided to have a snooze for he was very tired. As Opus and Robyn were preparing, they heard car go with workers. But suddenly Niles spoke up from behind them? ‘Hi Gang. I missed car to work, so I will help you harvest crops today.’ Niles noted they all had strange looks, then answered ‘Chill, later we can go to town and maybe eat out. Sounds good?’ Opus turned to Niles saying, ‘Well … we were about to leave.’ Niles asked ‘Leave, where are you going?’ Opus just looked down and did not speak. Niles stated ‘Come on, let’s eat a bit, then harvest before others come home.’ By this time Randy awoke and all agreed to go eat.
… A bit later we see Opus harvesting alone, as Polla came to water garden. Opus asked her if she wished to be on a different lot. Polla asked, ‘With you? Is that a joke? Ha-Ha! Oh-no Sir, I support Niles. He is a nice person under that Wimpish exterior. I will stay here thanks.’ ‘OK’ replied Opus, ‘I was just asking, for I will be leaving soon.’ ‘Sorry Sir’ answered Polla, ‘my home is here.’

Buttle’s Dilemma.
… If you remember there was talk of how Len could work on an empty stomach. Then Mick talked to Jess the leader, of Kate’s efforts. ‘Yes’ agreed Jess, ‘that’s good but all are working on their blinders of hunger.’ Lisa talked of weather and how they need to plant more.’ ‘Yes I know’ commented Jess. ‘One thing at a time Lisa, money is most important now.’ Later Len got home with only 100$ so they could only get one chair and Len did not eat today. He is seen here out cold on ground. (Some may not make it in this clearing. I see little hope.)

… On this beautiful summer day, as in real life, when you feel there is no hope, something good happens. Melda heard phone ringing and ran. She won money for a contraption she introduced back home. She accepted 800$ as Jess stood listening in amazement. After she hung up and as Ken slept near, Jess talked to her of party times. He asked her to help them out here and that he would reward her. He explained, ‘We have been in some tough luck lately. Something must be done, for I know others would like my place. I will give you lead if you wish, but now we must get more chairs. Please come to market with me and help me pick out stuff.‘

Leader Jess.
… Later in week, Niles Duels walked along Darling Way. When he was almost out of sight Jess caught a glimpse of him and hollered ‘Hi, where are you from?’ Niles as walking towards him answered ‘Oh, just over those hills there.’ They talked of better times and computers. The organizing person back in Jess’s homeland knew Jess very well, and although Jess doesn’t portray a smart one he has many skills. Niles was impressed and informed, ‘If there is anything I can help you with let me know.’ ‘OK’ agreed Jess, ‘but I think we are on our way now. One of my people won a bunch of money and she is accepting my leadership. It will be fine now, thanks.’ ‘OK’ uttered Niles, ‘I will go now.’
… Jess was chosen by a fellow back home to lead this group. The others accepted by joining his team, but for their own reasons. No one knew the one next to them and most did not think Jess was suited for leadership but they followed. Later, Jess went and talked to Mick about computers and Mick was very impressed as well. Mick stated ‘We need a computer for business. I will put in on one with you.’ ‘That would be good’ agreed Jess, ‘but later. First we need places to sleep. With Melda’s winnings we are on our way, so be patient.’ ‘For sure’ replied Mick happily. After their meal Ken and Kate sat and talked. Ken is a fatherly person and Kate looked kind of sad. It is tough leaving civilization to rough it in the wild. After they disagreed on something, they got up and sat in next couch together. Why? They both moved again but to separate couches? (This means something.)

Lisa and the Skunk.
… At the end of this 3rd month Lisa was cornered and sprayed by a skunk. She went right to Jess and commanded, ‘Get rid of this creature now or I will leave…’ She talked about her good clothes and how they stank and you can imagine what Jess uttered. He kept turning his head as to not smell her. She’s distraught, for there is no shower and the critter is still at large. ‘OK-OK!’ shrieked Jess. ‘I will call for help.’
… Later Jess let Judy and Len have a snack for they did not eat earlier. He is keeping close watch on these people for times are very tough. Right now jobs are scarce and other towns seem reluctant to higher strangers. Kate talked to Len saying, ’I am so tired. You are the money-make, you have to bring in more money. I have no place to sleep yet.’ ‘Yeah, then why don’t you try for work?’ ‘I have!’ answered Kate. ‘There is no answer. You were lucky! These towns are small and there are few jobs. What am I supposed to do?’ Len, frustrated with situation uttered ‘Oh forget it!’ and he walked off. A bit later they apologized and talked of better times as Judy hurried by. Where was she going? Later Lisa got it from a skunk, Again. Mick is coming around the corner so will console her. Several came in aid to Lisa while Melda went and read a book. It was either on how to get stink out of clothes or to learn more for a good job, in desperation.
… Then one time Herald Castello walked by. Kate ran to meet him and of course they talked food. Harold talked of Queen Fifi on their lot. He commented, ‘Nobody knows for sure why she came. She seemed to be waiting for something though.’ Kate replied ‘True, maybe it’s like us. We are waiting for a break in our struggling life. You tell your queen to be aware, for we have heard some strange things in this last week. OK‘ answered Harold, and he wandered home.

… This morning they found a different paper along Darling Way. They had been studying and were able to get good jobs. They did not think though, for spent all their money on beds. They do not even have a potty. The last one fell apart on a windy day. It’s a hole in ground for them now. Only 4 beds, but all figured they would be sleeping in one. Len went to find Kate in garden patch. She had found many crops ready for harvest. At market they got shelves for food and ordered help to build a proper outhouse among the trees. When they got home it was Judy who tangled with the skunk! What is with these people? Mick froze in fear. Then took a fit throwing arms in air when skunk did spray.

Ken and Kate.
… Kate and Ken‘s routine is to sleep in day, then get up and care for garden. After, they make food for others coming home and later the group can go to market. Maybe this will be why, they had couch tag with each other a few weeks back. They knew they would be working together.
… Then one early morn, Ken and Kate got home from work and they talked of how they made a mistake and were fired. When Jess heard this he was mad. ‘Go away from here! You will work for your living upon this lot if you stay. You hear me!’ ‘Yes’ uttered Ken. Jess ordered them both to change into working clothes. ‘You go into that box and find some rags. GO!’ … Others were not sure why Jess was so upset for Ken and Kate only brought in 100 each, but times are rough and nerves are tattered. Then Jess saw Kate sleeping in one of the beds, He went to Ken and told him, ‘You tell Kate to get out of that bed! Beds are for those who work.’ Ken later talked to Kate. He complained, ‘It was your fumble at work that got us fired and you slept while I take the blame.’ She replied ‘I did not know, Now go away! Let me think.’
… Later Melda went to Jess and uttered ‘Good Grief, Aren’t you being a bit tough on them?’ Jess answered ‘No, to stand in front of work cars so they cannot go, that is very rude. Last time it was like 2 hours but drivers were tolerant. This time they were frustrated and told company. This is not working together at all.’ ‘I see’ commented Melda, ‘but all are cranky lately.’ ‘Yes’ replied Jess, ‘But that is no excuse. Jess settled down then stated, ‘I guess we need a party to cheer them up, but we have no real food… just greens!’ ‘Yuck’ uttered Melda, ‘but it sure hits the spot when we are so hungry and in pain.’ ‘Yes this is true’ agreed Jess, ‘But!’
… While they were discussing this Kate was cleaning up kitchen. Well, she has really done it this time! She got into washing dishes and used far too much water. Jess shouted for her to stop but she kept going. Later he commanded, ‘Since you are bent on destroying this place, you can go elsewhere, NOW!’ From this situation Jess looked up and there was Ken sleeping in a bed while others gathered to clean up water. After hollering at Ken to get up and help, Jess stormed off to the washroom area. He thought to himself, they have to go now! (He was at his ropes-end.) Len met Ken at dresser and laughed at him. ‘You sure made a mess of your job and our home. I am sorry but it beats me how you can do so wrong in such a short time. Are you sick?’ Ken glared at him, dressed and went with Kate to another lot. Some here were sorry while others were relieved.
… After a long quiet time near potty, Jess was kind of upset. He realized he was harsh on them, but what can he do? They will all perish if things do not change here. He knows many have perished in such crisis. With all the commotion of this day, some did not make it to work, and Jess was one. Then he felt very bad, for he also had goofed badly.
… On another day Lisa met Fifi Castello a queen from her homeland. Lisa has only met Fifi twice but it was nice to talk of olden times. Then Lisa joined Jess and Judy as they huddled in garden. Later that day they waited impatiently for work cars. They have no heat on their lot but there is heat at work, and there might be food as well. They will make sure to talk to their co-workers.
… One day Jess saw Judy running very fast. ‘Say Judy, Where are you going in such a hurry?’ Judy uttered ‘Heaven help us! Lisa is showing us some calisthenics to stop hunger pains. Oh No, it is making me sick.’ Off went Judy, while Lisa was still dancing and praying for food. Jess just stood there thinking it was all kind of silly.
… One time Len got home early and to his surprise the others had brought a fridge. Now they are in high society. There is electricity from one wire strung among the trees near. Most cannot afford such luxuries but they had just enough… This seems to be their routine, Lots of money, than none. Jess made the first meal from their new fridge with much satisfaction.

Abbots – Butch and Bart.
… Today as our gang got home, Butch found Bart our leader had been demoted, and Butch is giving him a bad time. Being brothers, Butch tends to keep Bart in check, although Bart usually has the better life. And so it goes. Clarence came to greet them along Darling Way, and wished to ask if they brought food home, but when he heard conversation, he stood back and listened. He in his red jump suit silently watches over this lot of people. Why? Of course, with this Bart tells Butch off. Upon hearing this, Debby decided to clean Windy Hollow lane area of papers and garbage. She feels that while workers are at work, the others do very little to maintain this clearing. On the other hand, Clarence on hearing the fighting decided to call someone to see if food was available? He knows it is not wise to ask mad people for handouts, especially the runners of this grassland whom are glaring at each other. As this was happening Randy Duels went by and said Hi to Debby, but did not stop. He knows what is happening? Meanwhile Debby smiled and continued cleaning up front. She is trying to keep things together.
… On another day Len Buttles came by and talked with Clarence. Len spoke of weather and of the long journey they made to get here. He quipped, ‘And all it does is rain.’ Clarence replied with ‘The hills bring the rain to this low area. Maybe if we picked an area higher in hills it would not rain so?’ Then Len told Clarence of their lot. He explained,’ Our leader is older and not able to cope. I find myself saving him from disaster and for that matter, all on my lot. I have only job but bring in little. I have heard them talk of getting their own lots. They do follow our leader, but I fear when our leader passes, all will go their ways.’ ‘Do not worry’ answered Clarence. ‘You come with me if your place falls apart.’ Len went on with, ‘Well I wish to run my own lot, but these people I am with will not follow me even to the potty! What will they do if I cannot bring in money?’ Clarence answered ‘Well just wait. From what you say they may be concerned for only themselves. There you have no lead, so why would they follow you?’ ‘Yes of-course’ answered Len. Clarence replied, ‘It may be that things will iron out in the future. Roughing it can be traumatic for some. Just be patient.’

Problems with Cindy.
… One time Cindy made Bell cry. Dell who was standing near them, went to Cindy and told her off. He has had it with her games. So Cindy poked Dell back and replied, ‘You are not the boss here.’ Dell replied, ‘So be it! I will talk to Bart of this. You wait!’ Dell turned about and saw Bart sleeping then uttered ‘Gees, It’s a good thing for you he is sleeping. I’ll talk later.’ Then a few minutes later Butch came up to Dell to find out what was happening. Dell told him, ‘Many here have been embarrassed and harassed by Cindy. What are you going to do about it?’ Butch replied ‘Later I will talk to my brother.’ He went to Cindy and told her to plant garden, and for 3 times she uttered, ‘No!’ then complained about life here. Butch walked away with anger and thought, I will certainly talk to my brother about this lady. She is useless here.
… Later in evening when things had quieted down, Butch did find Bart on couch and had a chat. Bart uttered ‘Cool it, Maybe she is broken hearted. We do not know much about these people before this expedition.’ ‘Hells Bells’ uttered Butch, ‘that is no reason to be rude. Several here have caught her high on the wild mushrooms about. She is not doing her part. She is only nice when high on drugs?” ‘Yes’ agreed Bart. ‘That bothers me too. I’m not sure where she is getting these drugs but I do not wish others to do the same. We would get nothing done around here.’ ‘Yes…’ ‘OK so what do you wish me to do?’ Bart answered ‘Do not worry, at right time I will tell her to leave. Maybe she can find another area with people more like her. I will see.’ ‘OK brother, I leave it with you.’ Then we see Dell speaking to Cindy of rainy days. He saw Bart and Butch talking and told her, she should mind her manners, for she will find herself out of this area. She just gave him a sour look and walked away. Later Bart talked to Debby about Cindy while Cindy was sleeping. They soon changed subject and talked of better times and how nice it would be to have a party. But they need more money to get shelter built, for fall is here and soon it will be cold. Dell is standing near them also and has a smile. He knows things will get better. Bart then told Dell, ‘Go help Butch water garden. We must keep garden up for more money.
… Few days later, Bart works at another time and gets home early, but he did not bring home enough for shower or dishwasher. (These are the next items in Butch and Bart’s minds.) But they found another paper and now 5 people have jobs. Clarence, Cindy and Bell are the ones without. Cindy who didn’t wish a job is constantly travelling on thin ice. Maybe she likes the adventure? You can bet if she gives much more trouble, she will be banished from this area. Clarence on the other hand was too busy silently watching these people. Why? Whom is he spying for? I think Bell was just not feeling well? Maybe next time.

Food.
… In this crisp fall afternoon Bart and Angela of army, talked of money of which they get a good amount. They have just gotten home and others here made lunch for their arrival. The three who do not have work must keep up area, especially Cindy. Butch and Debby got home later and asked if there was food. Bell answered ‘I think so,’ and rushed off to make more, for nobody made for these two. Butch will be the first one to tell Bart, you bet. Sometimes rodents get into cabinet and eat what they have, so when Bell got to cabinet to make food, there was none. She had to go harvest more. But Debby, one of medical workers was in garden area watering crops. She commented to Bell, ‘The people without jobs must keep this place up or there will be some changes. What a conundrum! Butch and I are hungry and I know you people already had a meal. You better make sure this does not happen again.’ ‘Yes’ replied Bell as she frantically picked tomatoes and carrots from garden. She continued ‘There is still lots of fortified goodness here and we will have it ready in 10 minutes, that is all, Sorry.’ ‘OK but you make sure food is ready when we get home from work!’ ‘Yes I will’ answered Bell, as she went to cabinet to gather rest of food.
… Bell enjoys this time of year with an invigorating snap in the wind, but as she finished picking veggies Butch was on his way to see what’s happening. In garden several others had gone into a weeding watering bout. Bell quickly left to store and prepare more food. As Bell got to food storage area, Butch called her as he stood in middle of dirty dishes. ‘Where is our dinner? I am starved.’ Bell turned quickly and uttered ‘Holy-Moly, Yes it is coming in a minute. I just picked fresh produce for the occasion.’ ‘Nifty, replied Butch, that sounds good.’ With that Bell went willingly on with her chore but suddenly Bell took a fit and complained aloud, and when she went to serve dinner it had gone bad. There are only snacks for our two medical workers. Butch will talk to Bart about this incident. They work long hours and later than most here. They should get a good meal when they get home! Others sent the non-workers to plant seeds. ‘Butch and Debby came on scene to supervise and Butch was upset. ‘No-No! That is not how you plant crops! It should be in rows. You cannot step into crop area without stepping on another plant. It is no wonder the food is going rotten so fast! Please leave space to step between plants. Like this,’ and he went and helped them. But by the look of things, Butch doesn’t seem to know what he is doing neither. He almost hit Cindy with the hoe he swung in air to hoe a spot to plant. Well, things got done in a hurry and it turned out OK.
… Later Butch, Debby and Bell were arguing about putting garbage in tin as Dell quietly looked on. Obviously Bell was in a bad mood and her tights were too tight. She wishes to guard for that is her profession, but the only person worth guarding in this area is Fifi Castello in long white dress, of another lot. Bell has in her mind to go off on own, and with Fifi start a proper area for a queen to be.

Another Dishwasher.
… Another time, Bart upon coming home brought a dishwasher, although none of the others knew he was going too. Most stood stunned along Windy Hollow as Bart explained, ‘Oh I discussed this with Butch, did he not tell you? I believe Butch is going to bring home a shower later this week also.’ Well their faces lit up with that idea. Bart continued with ‘You just cool it, and we will get what is needed for all.’ There were some smiles but some felt they should all have a say. After all, this was everyone’s clearing and their expedition as a whole. Since they are still short on sleeping chairs, there were some strong thoughts and questions. But after all the whispers, no one spoke up.
… As they got this dishwasher onto their clearing, Dell went to investigate what Bart brought home. Although it was just a rack to put dishes on, you could throw water at them and they would dry pretty quick. Well it turned out that on the first use of this contraption, it fell apart much like the first one. Bell was on her way to tell Bart off good. You can see her walking firmly away from the scene including a puddle of water and bits of wood among the weeds in their kitchen. Clarence is busy cleaning up but Dell is standing there just staring in amazement. This was their hard-earned money in someone else’s hands.
… Now, Bell caught up with Bart near sleeping area and is telling Bart off. Cindy woke with the hollering and is also ticked off. So Cindy is now telling Bell to be quiet. ‘Just because you have had a bad day dear, others need their sleep. We have to get along you know. This is the only place we have.’ Bell uttered ‘Oh-no, Holy-Moly, there are lots of places to go. I have walked about and seen for myself. Come with me? We will find a clearing of our own and be in good company.’ ‘Well that’s Bonkers,’ replied Cindy. ‘Sure! I will be there and will guard and fight for you. Come with me, please.’
… Butch and Debby then just arrived home with a shower and it was Dell that got first try. With this Butch is feeling much better, for others were happy and shower came quicker then he had told. Although it was only a mettle box with a bucket on pulley to dump water, it was very refreshing.

Castello’s – Queen.
… Now with Flint on his deathbed, Brother Harold was still moody and is seen here talking of food to the guard Bell of another lot. She consoled him for her team was in much the same predicament.
… As she was talking she noticed a lady in long white dress. She exclaimed, ‘Who is that, she looks familiar?’ Harold replied ‘Oh, well that is Fifi but she does not help us much here. She does not plant in garden but was of royalty or something before.’ Bell uttered ‘Holy Moly, Fifi Bellows right?’ ‘Oh… I’m not sure,’ answered Harold. ‘We go by team names you know.’ ‘Yes’ replied Bell, ‘we do too. Then people who wish to be anonymous can be. Especially since all may make fools of themselves. Starvation makes devils out of even the best of people.’ Then Bell told, ‘I’ve got to go. I’m too hungry to talk. Bye.’
… As she was leaving Fifi saw her and called out, ‘Hi there, did you used to be one of my guards?’ ‘Oh hi’ replied Bell. Fifi blurted out, ‘Saints preserve us! Do you remember all the big parties we had?’ And they were off on food talk and became uplifted with their chat. Harold was standing near and listening intently. He thought, Holy-Toledo maybe this Fifi really is of royalty. I should talk to her more. Bell and Fifi also talked of computers. Bell was smart and worked to the top but Fifi had a change of heart and wanted to prove herself worthy. That is why she is here. But to meet one from past brings back all the good stuff. Then Bell started talking of guarding. ‘If you ever need help I am for you.’ Fifi pondered that idea and wondered if the people here would be her subjects. She does wish to help these people, but in her way; Such as good water, heat in cold weather and education for all. She told Bell, “Yes you wait for a while, and when this place starts running, I will see which way the wind blows.’ ‘Thanks Very much’ replied Bell, ‘but now I must go. I have stayed too long. The others of my team will be mad at me.’ Where as, Fifi said good-bye to Bell with a promise of future, Hilda missed car to work, so now has a shaky future. She was so interested in what was happening she had a laps of memory. Mind you, Hilda is only one who has a job which brings in the money for this team. This needs some respect. But just the same, Hilda may not have a future here, if goofs up again.
…Later when Harold told others what he heard of Fifi’s conversation, they all felt, maybe she is a queen. They felt more respect, but they questioned her performance of past. Will she help them or is it idle promises? Well, Fifi went right over and watered the whole garden. She has renewed enthusiasm for a good future. The others stood there with much on their minds, for living with royalty can have many possibilities.

Ian and Flint’s Voyage.
… In this 2nd month Lisa Buttles walked by and saw this old man hunched over muttering to self of something. She did not stop for she could smell him from where she was. Then later Opus Duels came by and Harold was going to speak to him but Opus did not like Harold’s attitude.
Fifi heard them hollering and in actuality, it woke her up. She came quickly and asked Harold what was happening. Harold told her, ‘This Opus guy is insulting us with his remarks.’ Well, when Opus saw Fifi in her beautiful gowned, he apologized and was sorry. Fifi stepped right in and asked ‘And who are you?’ Opus replied, ‘I am Opus Duels in a clearing not far from here. My people are in a state also but I am sorry. You’re the only true lady I’ve seen in a while. Why are you here?’ ‘Well Sir’ stated Fifi, ‘that is none of your business. Now I wish you to go, and next time come in a pleasant manner. These are my people here and I do not wish more turmoil. We have enough in our conditions and one of our people is dying as we speak. I am sorry for you and your group but we have our own problems.’ Opus explained he was sorry and talked of the broken hearts many have. They talked of good times and how it could be. With that, off Opus went with a smile.
… Few days later, old man Ian fainted and they could not revive him. They did what they could to comfort him but in the night he passed on.
On this summer morning Girth and Harold talked of computers. As they did, another of theirs passed to the great beyond. A bit later they announced that Flint Castello was officially dead. Fifi went to grave area and Girth followed to guard her from others. A little while later, the first real meal was served and all ate well. They raised their hands with food, to the two who passed from their midst, in this 3rd month and the beginning of a new life.
… On another day Elly plants carrots while Fifi tries to clean up. Two yards away by outhouse, Girth is watching Elly. He will make sure all is in order for his queen. Then we see in another corner, Harold and Hilda found they could harvest the beans. Harold went with a handful of beans and talked to Fifi saying, ‘We should go to market and sell these.’ Queen agreed saying, ‘Their in tiptop shape! You go phone and we will be back in time for Hilda to go to work.’ While there, Hilda stayed out front of market to chat. Fifi explained, ‘Dear if you will keep working we will make ends meet. It may be rough going but I will do all I can to help you.’ ‘Yes’ replied Hilda. ‘How about getting work too?’ Fifi answered, ‘I need to defend our lot to keep it. Girth should stay also. You will have to speak to the others about that.’ ‘TIMBER’ uttered Hilda. ‘That is a lost cause. They have no brains’ ‘Well dear, give them a chance.’ Then all gathered at front of market and complained except Fifi and Elly who is too mean to complain. But just the same, Fifi found it refreshing. She uttered a few words to her while others were griping to each other. (Which of these Babies was under Fifi’s command before?)

Onward.
… Well the evening wore on and Girth ran from outhouse area to answer phone. A friend came up with the money he owed Girth so now Girth has several hundred dollars to spend. The friend said that it should arrive in next few days. Girth will be their hero here. Both Harold and Fifi came to phone and Girth told them the good news. Harold uttered “Holy-Toledo!’ Fifi is saying. ‘I owe you for this. Can we use the money here?’ ‘Oh sure’ answered Girth. ‘Anything for my queen.’ Well I guess Girth was under queen in her land for sure. Fifi uttered, ‘The Saints are among us.’ I am not queen here yet but your help will be gratefully appreciated.’
… In phone area after good news, Fifi was standing alone deep in thought, while Harold was going to talk more to Girth. On Girth’s say so, they will get more sleeping chairs and a TV to help moods. Fifi even ordered store bought food from a near town. This did lift spirits, for it was food like back home. Later, Jill and Girth sat and read while watching out for Queen. Fifi is becoming a strong secure force among them and they do not fight much now. Things are looking up for these people and they owe it mainly to Girth. He still talks of the amazing event that happened and they both agreed, Girth would be best at advising Fifi on what to do.
… Next day a paper came and it had a big new ad for several kinds of jobs. Next town is growing and there are 3 new office buildings built up. This team will study for their new jobs so money will not be a problem and they will commence to build a castle. Later Girth and Fifi had a quiet chat. Girth stated, ‘I heard more today in my travels.‘ Fifi uttered, ‘Please go on.’ Girth stated, ‘There are three other groups with our bunch and they are getting nervous. They have heard of changes also.’ ‘Well’ replied Fifi, ‘if others come here we will tell them to beware.’ ‘Yes, I heard one say she was coming here soon. Is that OK to you?’ Fifi replied, ‘Well if they really wish and can be of help to us, they can stay. There is room.’ Girth uttered ‘Oh…OK’! ‘If I see this lady again I will tell her.’ Fifi looked puzzled and asked. ‘You were talking to this one?’ ‘Yes I was.’ ‘My Saints, Does she need help?’ asked Fifi. ‘I’m not sure’ replied Girth, ‘but I think she wishes to help you from what I heard.’
‘Oh … well, we will see.’ As Girth conversed with Fifi, Elly sat quietly but concerned. She seems very distant recently and in this scene almost determined. They let her be for she can be quite a headache. Not a nice person!
… As Fifi and Girth finished talking Girth walked away and Jill came right up to Fifi. She whispered ‘Do not trust Girth, I feel he is not on your side.’ ‘Why do you say that?’ asked Fifi. answer was, ‘Well I heard this person at market the other day talking bad about some people here. There were two of them and they were in black. They seemed to know what was going on in many areas. Apparently there are people who own this land we are on.’ ‘Sure’ agreed Fifi, ‘I have heard that as well, but these people wished land to be opened for civilization, as far as I know.’ ‘OK’ replied Jill, ‘But, I am going to go on a trip about area and find out what is really happening. I think we should all know.’ ‘Well you be careful.’ answered Fifi. ‘All people are not nice here, but Girth will look after this lot.’ Jill answered ‘That’s incredible!’ … She paused and realized Fifi did not take her heed about Girth. She said, ‘Well I’m not sure about Girth, but we will see. Can I take produce for my trip?’ ‘Certainly’ replied Fifi. ‘Come I will help you.’
… They spent the afternoon gathering things for Jill to take on her trip. Before Jill left she told Fifi she would not be gone long. ‘I will find out who these people are, that are taking over. Fifi stated, ‘Please hurry back and good luck.’ ‘OK’ replied Jill.

Chapter Four … Rescuing Rescuers.

Duels – Changing Tide.

… If you remember Opus and Robyn were going to harvest the Cherry tomatoes and leave this lot along with Randy, who at that point was very tired and ended up dozing off near garden. In a few hours of this day Opus and Randy ran to answer phone. It was Bell Abbot wishing to talk. She told Opus all that was transpiring and of the Castello’s capture. Opus uttered ‘Oh No! Of course I will go with you! Is Clarence going?’ Bell asked ‘Yes, he is here. Would you like to talk to him?’ ‘OK’ answered Opus. Clarence and Opus chatted for 10 minutes, and by that time Randy got bored and was off to another corner.
… Later Opus found Randy in garden. He stated ‘Our plans are put on side for now. Robyn has caught car to work for money is important. We will be meeting Clarence outside Castello’s early tomorrow. Castellos are captives of the villains we have heard of the last few weeks.’
Shocker!’ replied Randy, ‘Then what will we do with our harvest?’ ‘Well, we may go to market when all get home later. Then we sleep and go early tomorrow.’ Opus went on with ‘But not all will be going. Niles and the ladies can stay here.’ Randy asked, ‘Why do we not leave as planned and let Niles and ladies handle this.’ Opus looked at Randy in concern then replied ‘I would not let Clarence down, he is my friend. I am going! If you want to stay by all means do. Niles is not suited to fight men, but you are.’ Opus stood silent waiting for an answer. Finally Randy answered, ‘Yeah OK, I will help if you wish.’ ‘Marvelous’ uttered Opus, ‘You have far more strength than Niles.’ Randy smiled and felt proud as he went on watering the plants. Opus then agreed ‘Yes, let’s harvest all now.’ So they spent the afternoon getting set up for tomorrow. (Opus and Randy to rescue. Leaving Polla, Robyn and Niles here.)

Buttles – Shower Changes.
… Jess and Judy were out by outhouse chatting about a shower. ‘This would make most happy, I know.’ replied Judy in her long dress. ‘Yeah-OK’ agreed Jess. Judy heard Lisa screaming about cockroaches running up her skirt in this winter eve. ‘Oh my God!’ hollered Judy. She turned to Jess and hollered, ‘We must get a dishwasher first Jess. The roaches are coming!’ Jess came right away and saw Lisa spraying with something. In her mind, maybe, just maybe, this would give them a headache and they would go away. She called aloud ‘Go away, GO-A-WAY!’ Jess chuckled then he stared off into forest thinking, yes it’s the dirty dishes that are drawing those leggy creatures.
… We see Judy up in this night, watching others sleep. She went over and woke Jess up. ‘I feel I am needed in another area. I will leave tomorrow for town, this is not my Bread and Butter.’ Jess was shocked to lose another but understood. He promised, ‘We will get a shower and a dishwasher soon dear, if that is the reason?’ ‘No’ answered Judy, ‘I feel out of place.’ She continued with ‘Things do not go fast enough here. There is too much red tape. We all have to agree on something before we get what we need. I see things differently. Health is more important, even sleeping. Cleanliness is the first thing of health, so why do we not have a dishwasher or shower instead of our beds? Heaven help us! Beds are nice but we could have kept the chairs for sleeping, that we had months ago. Then Sir, we would have our shower and dishwasher!’ ‘Right as rain’ spoke Jess. ‘But that is just the way it happened. That is what they asked for. So right now let’s sleep more and we will talk tomorrow, OK?’ ‘Yeah, I guess so.‘ replied Judy. She let Jess go back to bed for in his older years he needs sleep. By the light of the fire she went and looked in yesterday’s paper to find another job.
… In the next morning, few hours later, Jess was up first. He looked about but Judy was not there. He thought, Oh Dear, I should have promised her a dishwasher today, but we have no money! He paused by kitchen and thought how Judy would prepare food in her long dresses. She always knew how to dress. He told himself, Well Sir put on a good face, for here come the others. It was Lisa who came to kitchen and started putting dirty dishes to one side. She uttered, ‘So Judy left hey?’ Jess stood in silence. He did not know how Lisa knew. He replied ‘Yes I guess she did? I talked to her last night and told her we would be getting new stuff as soon as possible, but I guess she already made up her mind. Why, are you leaving too?’ ‘No-No’ replied Lisa, ‘Somebody has to look after you and your gang.’ Jess smiled and agreed, ‘Well I feel very tired but my gang may well need looking after. I tell you what. If you could chat about and let me know who else is going to leave, then I can ask what they wish and I’ll get that next.’ ‘Oh… well I already know Sir, We need a shower! The bugs are OK but later, Please get a dishwasher.’ ‘Yes of course’ answered Jess. When others got home this day, Len had harvested crops and right away Jess asked Lisa to phone bus. Len commented, ‘We will have enough money for shower and maybe also a dishwasher today, Sir.’ Jess replied ‘Let’s do our best so they will stop haunting me. I think my job is around too many chemicals for I’m always tired. I’m not sure what is wrong?’ Len was concerned, ‘Well you just wait. You first go for shower OK?’ Jess had a smile and quipped ‘Boy, that sounds good. Maybe I will shower first thanks.’
… When at market, Len sold veggies and knew they did not have enough. He stood silently listening to music over speakers when Farmer came and put his hand on Len’s shoulder. ‘Is there a problem?’ Len answered ‘Oh no, that is OK Sir. We will manage.’ Farmer stated ‘OK, but we can spare a few crops if you are very hungry.’ ‘No that is good’ spoke Len with a smile. He went out to call bus and that is when he saw, a new room was being added to market. This made him happy. He told Jess, ‘I will phone to get a shower now.’ When they got home and the shower was there. ‘That was quick.’ uttered Jess. Len agreed ‘Yes, they must have put it on truck and came right away. I guess there is not much business and they were happy to get all our money.’ Mick uttered ‘Chu…’ he did not like that comment. But all the same, spirits were high as they viewed their new shower. Len uttered ‘Now Jess, you shower first.’ ‘Oh…Yes.’ Len replied to Jesse’s utterance, ‘Go for it man, for the sooner you are out, its my turn! Ha-Ha-Ha.’
… A short time later when Len came to see if Jess was out of shower a skunk confronted him. After sidestepping around the skunk, Len got closer to shower and Jess was out all right, but fainted to ground. Len hollered to the gang and went to Jess. As others came running they saw Len standing there in shock. ‘He is gone!’ shrieked Len. Mick was alarmed, for Melda who had become a close friend to Jess, went into a fit. Throwing her arms and shouting much before she found herself on ground sobbing. Lisa was too busy trying not to cry behind them and Mick looked on in fear. Len tried to console Melda, but she got mad. Len knew these folks had to settle down, and later they would care for Jess.
… After moving shower to another corner of lot and getting everybody settled, Len asked Mick to help him bury Jess. Lisa was wishing she could have helped their leader more, but it was not to be. He was a good guy all in all but he was older. He is OK now. Short time later, others came to grave and with all the hardships they have had this past many months, there were no dry eyes this evening.
… Life goes on, for even though Jess their leader is gone, Len still gets home earlier than others do and spends his time harvesting. Mick and Melda still talk of the party they will have but Len has hands on head. Sure they have dishwasher as of today but winter is upon them and they need better clothes and a shelter. Here we see Len thinking of visiting Clarence Abbott again. He wishes to run this lot but does not know what Clarence wishes yet. (Who is Clarence anyway?) They went to market for have enough to buy some lumber. He phoned bus to go home and then called Mick. Before Mick came, bus came so could not talk. What was he going to say?

Mick and Melda Buttles.
… When they got home, Mick and Melda were talking. Lisa seems to be elsewhere and now we see her stared off among the trees. It turned out that on bus, Len talked to them about leading this lot, but Mick and Melda had plans of their own and Len was not much in the picture. Upon hearing this, Lisa told them she would be going soon to a place she used to work for. Old friends. Len was beside himself. He will have to talk to Clarence again and see what to do.
… I feel its because, Mick and Melda have good jobs and Len is only a dishwasher bringing in a bit. This makes Mick and Melda feel they own this place. They are scientists after all and have important jobs. Len’s hands are tied. But it should be Lisa who runs this place, for she was closer to Jess than any here. But this was not appointed by Jess. He died suddenly, so did not have plans in action. She knows this but she cannot interfere, for she has a small job too. Besides, she met one who told her to come to their lot later, remember.
… Later Melda went up to Len for she could see he was unhappy about the talk. She explained, ‘You may not remember, or maybe nobody told you? Many months ago Jess told me that he would give me rule here, if I helped him with the money I won.’ ‘Oh yes’ replied Len, ‘I do remember you winning money! … Did he really say that?’ ‘Yes … I am sorry if you had plans but he did offer me lead. But things went on and he did not specify. Good Grief… His sudden death put a spin into everything here, I know. I did give him that 8 hundred dollars. It’s gone now though, but I still think he would have put me in charge.’ Melda went on with, ‘I didn’t say anything before, for I knew you wished lead, and I didn’t wish to sink your ship. Also… you only bring in half the money I do, whereas Mick brings in the same. So you see, we would be building the home on this land. You may be able to pay for our food?’ Len answered quietly, ‘No that is fine Melda. I know another person in this area and I will ask him what to do. I had forgotten about your money. Thanks for talking to me.’ ‘Thanks’ replied Melda, ‘No hard feelings?’ ‘Yeah, I guess not’ answered Len, ‘I will leave it to you.’
… Len went to Lisa in garden and chatted. He explained, ‘I may not be here much longer. If a friend I know asks me to go to his lot, I will.’ ‘Its not good’ spoke Lisa, ‘I am sorry it turned out this way. I have no say here, I am sorry. I do wish you luck wherever you go Sir.’ ‘Yes thanks’ replied Len. Lisa asked, ‘Were you a king before this?’ Len answered, ‘No but I served a king and took training of such. I wished to try for a kingdom here, but it is not right time.’ ‘Oh that’s radical, but it is not right time for many things here.’ replied Lisa. ‘I hope to see you after you leave. I do not know where I am going but the person I am going to is a queen. She is true blue for I used to work with her a few years back but wished a change.’ Len replied, ‘A Queen!’ ‘Yep!’ told Lisa. ‘If I see her again I will be going there.’ Len asked ‘Oh, would she mind a guard as well?’ Lisa answered, ‘Well I am not sure even if she needs me with her. I will have to see.’ ‘Golden’ replied Len. ‘Please let me know later somehow?’
… Then it started to rain harder and they had to go find some trees to stand under with the others, so no more was said, just a few looks. About 20 minutes later the rain had slowed right down so Melda went and made food.
… After Len ate, he paused in contentment watching Mick and Melda talking to Lisa. He felt these two leaders will run this place well and will build a nice home here. He realized that this is exactly what all should be focusing upon, for this to become a town. He felt better about situation and was willing to let it go. He feels that in a week or two after he helps them start a shelter, he will go see his friend Clarence and chat.

Changing Tide
…Just then Len heard phone ringing and ran, while Mick was not far behind. It was Bell with news, of the meeting to rescue Fifi and her group. She asked to talk to Melda but she was on other side of clearing. After Bell told all, Len got off phone and explained to Mick, ‘We have to help the folks who are captured by the villains we heard of a while back. They will get us as well, if we do not do something. Come on Mick, help me tell the ladies.’
…As Mick and Len were walking back to ladies, Len saw a person coming down street. He ran into lot and passed Mick and Lisa telling her to come quickly to back of clearing. There they discussed things together. Len knew he could not. He stood very near Mick and suggested, ‘I think you should stay here with these two ladies. Stay near edge of clearing and get furnishings in among trees. I must go help others out.’ ‘For Sure!’ replied Mick, ‘I do not wish to get shot or something.’ Len looked at him then consciously replied, ‘I do not think anyone is going to get shot!’ ‘Well ‘ questioned Mick, ‘Melda saw people with guns the other day, when at market.’ Len in shock uttered ‘I did not know this! Why didn’t you tell me?’ Mick replied ‘Oh, forget it! I was not the one who saw this Sir, Melda was.’ Then with this info Len had second thoughts. Mick put arms in air and loudly replied ‘Sorry Sir, but talk to Melda.’ Melda heard this and uttered ‘Uh!’ So Len turned and talked with Melda. It turned out to be Bart and Butch who had guns and Len was relieved a bit, for in Len’s mind Bart and Butch were puppets. He wondered though, whom they were working for?
… Later, the two guys Mick and Len went to front of clearing to pick harvest and see Len on his way to help with Castello’s. They agreed after gun talk, that Len would leave now to help and Mick would stay to protect the ladies.

Abbots – Changing Tide
… Dell was angry with Cindy for he was having a quiet think in the night air when Cindy came up and screamed, ‘You are a psychedelic fool!’ ‘Gees, I will not rest till you are gone from this lot’ replied Dell. I will talk to Clarence.’ ‘Ha-Ha’ laughed Cindy. ‘Clarence is a pussycat. I will be here much longer than all you freaks. I know my way around this lot better than anyone does and I will never starve. Who needs you people anyway!’ Then she headed for the trees? Dell calmed himself as he watched Cindy disappear into bushes. Dell thought, I wonder if she is leaving? Oh…. Maybe she is off to her drugs again?
… Early next morning Dell went to Bart and told him what happened and he has not seen Cindy since. Bart shrieked ‘OK, let her go. Nobody is holding her here.’ Dell replied ‘Far Out! … But I thought you wished us to work together?’ ‘No’ answered Bart. ‘We may leave this lot to you people soon anyway. If we can live on and secure another clearing we will have more land.’ ‘Far out’ uttered Dell, ‘I see. So … When will this be?’ Bart replied, ‘When we have enough money we will leave to find another clearing. But not till weather is warmer.’ ‘Oh… and who will be going with you?’ ‘I’m not sure’ uttered Bart, ‘I think Butch only wanted me to go with him?’ Dell asked, ‘Are you going to appoint one of us to lead this place?’ Bart answered, ‘True Blue … I had not thought of that. I will talk to Butch.’ ‘Not to worry.’ replied Dell. ‘I think Clarence will be the one. All will vote of him. He is a nice sensible guy.’ Bart laughed saying, ‘He is kind of lazy and too quiet to take charge. But if you wish … so be it!’ ‘Cool’ uttered Dell, ‘I will talk to him.’ Then Dell went off and found Clarence sleeping. As he watched him he wondered if it was the right thing to do.
… Time went by and they did not see Cindy again. With all the fighting she did, they were not too concerned either. Later Bart told Clarence of their plans. Clarence was intrigued and thankful that he had the opportunity to lead these people.
… As time went on Clarence was deep in thought and Butch saw this. He went to Clarence and joked ‘Do not worry, we will be near. You will do fine here… Is it not nifty that we will own two lots?’ ‘Yeah’ spoke Clarence. But he knew there was more going on in their minds than that. He has heard from other lots whom got letters from the two owners? It said market will be taken over by them, and that the commoners will have to plant crops to supply all with food. Clarence knew Butch and Bart were greedy, and they were attempting to take over whole area. Dell knows what is happening also, for he stays very near when conversations are going on. He is seen here sitting near Butch and Clarence. Dell is very uncomfortable and very hungry at this time. Butch and Bart are keeping what little money they have for their trip. How much does it cost to travel 5-10 miles away?
… On this day, after all workers had left, Bell went to main path of Hilda’s Plateau. She saw a young child delivering papers. She went to ask her if she knew others here. Betsy the papergirl said ‘Yes, I went by a lot that had new comers on it. They were talking of owning all the land they could see.’ ‘Holy, replied Bell, I should let Fifi know.’ She thought on with, I should take a walk one of these days. Butch and Bart do not have to know. My queen should know about this. The land she is on should be her land, for she owned much in past. I was there and she knows how to run a land well. I must tell her and maybe move in with her to help protect what land she has now.
… Bell got so excited just thinking of this and, planned to go in next few days with a snack of produce from their garden. She finished cleaning up path and called out bye to the papergirl, then saw Clarence coming. He asked, ‘What did the paper girl say?’ Bell told him, ‘I am leaving very soon for my Queens lot.’ Clarence commented ‘Yes, I have heard of this queen to be. Lets hope she can keep the land she is on.’ Bell uttered, ‘For goodness, I will help her as much as she wishes.’ ‘Great’ agreed Clarence. ‘I have scouted about a few times as you know, and I don’t think things are going too well. If the wrong people start putting pressure on the commoners we will stand up and claim what is ours’ ‘I will fight for the good.’ replied Bell, ‘We have the right to own land as much as others here.’ Clarence agreed, ‘Way to go! You’re true blue!’ Bell and Clarence went on talking of past events in other land for both had experiences in organizing groups. They have skills nobody knows about. ‘Good luck to you!’ replied Clarence, as he went for a snack before harvesting their garden. Bell answered, ‘Oh… I will not go today but when there are many crops, so as to take some.’ ‘Ok, that sounds good’ was Clarence’s reply.
… When workers got home that evening, Bart and Butch did not come home and have not been seen since. Clarence asked Debby a few questions about Butch who worked in same place. Debby informed, ‘I normally do not see him anyway. But today I did and he seemed to be happier than normal. I wondered why but had stuff to do, Sorry.’ Clarence smiled but was concerned, for he knows they are up to something.
(We will follow Bell to queen’s lot after this.)

Castellos – Warriors
… As you remember Girth and Fifi were talking and when Girth left, Jill came to tell Fifi to watch out for Girth. She commented, ’I do not trust him, then she announced to Fifi, ‘I am going on a little jaunt to find out what is happening in this area.’ With that Fifi accepted and they prepared for Jill’s trip. Now, while this was taking place Elly was still sitting on couch near them and she heard something and looked around. She suddenly got up and walked towards the main path to see what was happening. Fifi did not notice and Girth was studying several yards away. Most others were not at home.
… Then Fifi saw Elly out corner of eye and went to see who she was talking to. She called to Jill to make food before she left, for they had company. As she got nearer Fifi could hear Elly was in happy conversation with this fellow, and perhaps maybe Elly has found a nice bow? But when Elly saw Fifi coming, she walked on and left this guy to talk with Fifi? As Fifi talked to this person, he started talking of happy days and parties. Fifi stated, ‘Well we do not have much food here, but you can come eat a snack with us now. It must have been a long trip to come here Sir?’ ‘Yes’ agreed Butch, ‘And thank you.’ (Now we know a Butch and this Butch is also in black, could it be the same one?) Butch then announced, ‘And I have two friends with me.’ Fifi looked up a few yards away, to see Elly speaking to others. Fifi was a bit alarmed for they were in warrior outfits. Butch uttered, ‘Not to worry, they are with me.’ Fifi smiled and commented, ‘All right, we will eat now. ‘Oh nifty’ replied Butch, ‘we are all starved!’
… Now it turned out Elly knew all these people, for she was on the in of what was happening, but she did not let on. As they went to eat, in one corner you can see Bull one of warriors, telling Elly what the top bosses had in plan. She agreed and was prepared. These two warriors wore tights with many chains. With armor upon their chest they sparkled in the sunlight. Upon their waist belt they had whip and stick of sturdy type. They were very muscular with Bull in short hair and Bruno in long. They looked ready for battle.
… Back in food area all were present, for the ones that were at work, came home. Most took a plate of food and Fifi went into computer talk with Butch. Again Girth was elsewhere but Harold was about. Here we see Elly standing apart from others near eating area. No matter where it is, she is like this I guess.

Jewels in Forest
… Then Girth showed up and Butch spoke to him about wealth in the forests. Girth uttered ‘Amazing?’ Fifi had just finished her plate and asked, ‘What kind of Wealth?’ Butch replied ‘It must be from heaven for I found some jewels in the trees over there.’ ‘My Saints’ uttered Fifi. ‘Who do they belong to?’ ‘I am not sure’ replied Butch. ‘Lets go and maybe we can find out from fingerprints or something.’ Girth commented, ‘Well they must be in a bag or something, are they?’ Butch uttered ‘Hells Bells, let’s go see!’
… Now Jill redhead was cleaning up kitchen area and Elly was off in her own world, actually thinking of computers, so they didn’t know what was said. Quietly, Butch led Fifi and Girth to the forested area on edge of their clearing while the two warriors, Bull and Bruno, followed. They neared the forest cautiously and there could be seen a pile of logs, almost like a beaver den. But the logs were whole. Its like they were chopped down and thrown in a pile? Girth replied, ‘Oh, it looks like someone was staying here. Is this where the jewels are?’
… As Girth turned to speak to the warriors behind him, Butch called out, ‘NOW!’ and the two guards grabbed Fifi and Girth and shoved them into the pile of logs, gagging them before leaving. This was done in swift time and Butch hurried back to living area to ask where Fifi went. Before Butch left nabbing area, he gave instructions to warriors. ‘Wait behind trees till I give you more orders!’
… Now inside this pile of logs it was musty and dark, but they could see out and there was enough room to stand but not much more. Girth consoled Fifi who was not looking well. She mumbled, ‘What do they want from us, we have no money?’ Girth mumbled ‘I’m not sure, all we can do is wait.’ They watched the two warriors intently, in fear and anger. In Girth’s mind was ‘What to do?’ Meanwhile, Butch and others prepared for the rest to be led or to run and find Fifi. The trap was set well.
… Butch had gone back to living area of Castello’s and told Jill, Harold and Elly that he could not find Fifi. Elly asked, ‘Well what were the guards doing that they did not see her go?’ Butch frowned at her and replied ‘I’m not sure, she is about though. Come lets find her.’ Jill agreed ‘Oh Yes, she would not go far from Girth her protector. He is probably with her.’ Off went Jill, Harold and the rest, right into the trap. Elly went also but stayed back a bit. When all were in enclosure they closed it up and went
… After others left log area, our gang in enclosure had very little room. They could not all stand so most sat on damp, moldy ground. The smell of the newly cut logs was not bad, and Girth was telling Fifi not to worry. ‘There will be a way out of this.’ Girth went on with, ‘Many people pass daily and know we live here and know you as Queen or something.’ Jill was frozen. She heard what others were saying but could not move. Girth turned to her and held her for a minute. ‘Do not worry Jill. You stay near me and you will not be harmed. Now that we know they are not good people, we will not be taken in with their schemes again. Just rest and be ready for what happens next.’ With this Jill started to realize she had thought wrongly about Girth. There were a few tears but soon they settled and tried to nap. Meanwhile back in kitchen area we see villains making the most of things. More food and cheering to each other. They will not get away with this. Where are Fifi’s Saints? …!

Castello’s – Changing Tide.
… Now unknowingly to anyone at Castello’s, Bell Abbot had come to edge of forest and followed the scene of Castello’s capture. She saw Butch who she had not seen for a few weeks. It was kind of nice to see old familiar faces, but she had no idea that Butch and Bart would go into kidnapping.
… Now with seeing Butch and his guards put Fifi, Girth and the rest in the log enclosure, Bell Abbot decided to get out of there quickly and report this to her team. She came here to warn her queen of the bad happenings about, but it was too late and she could not do much as being only one person. As she left she saw Fed and Gor, but did not know them. They were weird people and most freaky. Like zombies wandering about forest and sort of watching what was happening. They both had bright clothes on, like clowns? Bell is not sure, but she may have been seen. As Bell was leaving near Hilda’s Plateau she saw another fellow. She said something to him but I’m not sure if he heard her, for he kept walking. (It was Randy Duels. Does he know what is happening?)

Chapter Five … Rescuing Rescuers.

Bell Arrives Home
… The others on Abbot’s lot were concerned for they thought Bell would visit the queen for only a short time! When Bell finally got on edge of her clearing, she ran to Clarence who was nearest her. Clarence uttered, ‘Thank God you are OK!’ ‘Yes but wait till you hear what happened.’ stated Bell. ‘The two twins, B-Brothers that we heard of, were there with others and have captured Fifi and her subjects! They are in an enclosure near woods on their lot. Holy-Moly! We have to help them!’ ‘That’s a must,’ agreed Clarence. ‘Jordan and I were waiting for something to happen. I know about these people and I will let Jordan know.’ Bell warned him saying, ‘But Please, do not go into lot right away, these people are tough.’ ‘It is good,’ uttered Clarence. ‘We are well adept to ambushes. This is not the first time I have been in the thick of things.’ Bell, who knew Clarence as lazy but mysterious replied, ‘Really, who are you?’ Clarence uttered ‘Later. Now we get ready and wait for others to get home from work, then we all go. Now I must phone long distance to Jordan.’
(It seems that Clarence had phoned Jordan once before when Bart and Butch were fighting about Bart’s demotion, remember. And it was at that time that Randy Duels went by and whispered something to Debby. So Randy knew of these two as well?)
… Shortly after that Bell went to get food for the guys, while Dell came to front. Clarence told Dell what was happening and Dell uttered ‘Far out, I will go help. So you know the leader of this land hey.’ ‘Yes, sort of’ explained Clarence, ‘This land was a gift to him from a King many years ago.’ Dell asked, ‘Gees, Where do you come into this?’ Clarence answered, ‘I helped him a few years back and he promised to pay me back. When I heard of B-Brothers, I phoned him, for he knows these two from past events.’ Dell asked, ‘So are we going to shoot them?’ Heavens no!’ uttered Clarence. ‘I’m not sure, but the best thing they can do for all, is to help this area become civilized.’ Dell commented, ‘You mean their children will own this land?’ ‘No’ stated Clarence. ‘I mean help Us.’ Dell was not all there at times and Clarence hoped he would not muffle the ambush. Clarence wondered later if Dell should even be involved? He went to Bell for she knew Fifi, having been a guard of hers before. After his talk with Bell, Clarence decided to take Bell and leave Dell here with the others.
… When all were at home Clarence and others had a long conversation of what to do. Bell stated, ‘Some of you men should go and rescue Fifi. What are we waiting for?’ Clarence called ‘Hold on, we need more than just the three of us, for there will be many guards in area. I have let Jordan know and Bell, you let Melda Buttles know. Please tell them to meet us near Castellos.’ Bell agreed ‘OK,’ then was off.
… Meanwhile Clarence told the others, ‘We need rest to give us strength in the morrow.’ All agreed and had a snack before heading for bed, but with the excitement, most did not get much sleep. Next day, all was arranged.

Adventures To Castellos.
… Clarence, Randy, Phil, Len, Opus and Jordan are the group to rescue Castellos. But when they got to Castello’s lot, there was nobody there. ‘We are too late,’ stated Phil, as he turned from kitchen area. ‘We have all their furnishings but no people. The villains must have taken them to their hideout? Sir Jordan, what will we do now?’ They wandered area and Opus saw fencing in back. They rushed to back of clearing near woods. Clarence and Jordan got there first and as others are arriving, you can see Clarence and Jordan examining the area. Behind the group, Phil is telling Randy, ‘They can’t have gone far, they will be in area. We must go find them.’ Speaking to the rest, Phil asked ‘Does anybody know who we are trying to find?’ Len uttered ‘No, I don’t.’ But then he heard something and turned to look. ‘Hey folks,’ he shouted. ‘There is a lady near front path.’ They all turned and ran in that direction.
… After the run, they stood by path as a small troop all huddled together looking different ways. Then Len, as seeing the lady a distance away stated ‘Hey, that lady went into nursing. She was on our lot for a time. I will speak to her.’ As he went over to her the others stood and watched. Opus being in front of the group did not know what to do and turned back to Jordan. Jordan stated ‘No, just quietly stand here. We must find out from this lady what is happening, if she knows!’ Len talked to Judy speaking of food first. She asked, ‘I am starved, do you have food?’ Len decided to take her to kitchen area and have a snack as she talked of what she knew. They all went to Castello’s kitchen and found a turkey untouched.
… As Clarence was about to carve he commented, ‘Castellos left this place in a hurry, this bird is still warm?’ Len agreed ‘Yes, but after that long trip and the tension about, I am starved.’ Jordan called ‘Yes, take this as a blessing people,’ and they went on carving and eating. But what is this? As they watched Clarence carving turkey, who should come along but Bart, now standing behind our group. They do not see him but from my point of view, he does not seem to have a gun?
… Now Judy, who knows what happened to Castellos, gasped when she saw Bart out of the corner of her eye. Right away Len and Jordan saw him and as they surrounded Bart, they asked him a bunch of questions. Jordan stood guard while Len confronted. ‘What are you doing here Sir Bart?’ ‘Cool it… I thought my brother was here.’ Bart asked Jordan, ‘Who are you?’ Clarence replied, ‘You do not need to know that Sir, but let me ask you this. Where is your brother now?’ ‘Well,’ quipped Bart, ’if I knew I would not be looking for him here, would I?’ Jordan called ‘Now this is not getting us anywhere. Sir Bart, you go back to Abbots where you came from.’ ‘Negative Sir, Butch and I have a lot of our own now. We have been there for over a month.’ Len asked ‘And your brother is not there?’ ‘Negative, replied Bart, he has been gone for a day or two. I’m just trying to find him. He had an errand to run for his boss.’ ‘Yes?’ queried Jordan, ‘Who is his boss?’ Bart announced, ‘Chico and his people are our bosses, and I do not have to do what you say. I am going now to find my brother!’ Jordan agreed ‘OK.’ Clarence looked at Jordan and shook his head, while Len stepped back and let Bart go. Clarence whispered quietly, ‘He was on our lot with his brother. He is part of our group. Sir Bart, is not the smart one, it is Butch who orders Bart about.’ Clarence turned to Jordan and replied, ‘We shouldn’t have let him go.’ Jordan explained ‘Yes, for he may lead us to where his brother is.’ Len commented ‘We have not spoken to Judy yet. She may know more than anyone! She may even know where Brother Butch is!’ ‘Yes’ agreed Jordan, ‘We will talk to her now.’ Now while that conference was going on another had entered area. Randy, Phil and Opus were dealing with him. All they found out was Gor was looking for Fed. They are in on whole scheme but seem harmless, more like ponds. With no weapons and no great anger they let him go.
… When those two had left, the others settled to have a meal. As Randy started talking of jurisdiction to Judy, Judy explained ‘Bart and two others, whom I do not know, took Castellos back to Steely’s place, or that is what I heard. It is in same area as Butch and Bart’s lot.’ Jordan replied ‘There, I thought we should have followed Bart right away.’ Clarence was quiet and just listened. Len asked ‘Judy, do you know where abouts this place is from here?’ ‘Well Yes’ replied Judy. ‘This is what I’ve been trying to tell you. It is a day or two journey but I know where it is.’ ‘Oh Great’ uttered Phil. ‘Way to go!’ uttered Clarence. ‘We will leave tomorrow early.’ Judy had a nervous look and explained ‘Well, I will take you near area, but I will not go there.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Randy, ‘That is a good idea.’ Jordan stipulated ‘Yes, we will leave when all have finished eating. Most had settled somewhere but Phil and Randy were still eating and talking. Phil is saying, ‘These villains must have a mansion to hop to somewhere here?’ Randy replied, ‘It will be another town elsewhere. I have scouted about and seen no building in this area.’ Phil agreed ‘Yes, but they must have reserves in a hideout somewhere? Otherwise why would they come here and take our people if they have little food and no shelter? If they are taking our people for their shelters, they are out of luck! Ha-Ha-Ha.’ Randy smiled replying ‘Yes I know what you mean, but I do not have the answer. We will see.’

Adventures to Butch and Bart’s.
… After a day or two traveling, with blisters on feet Judy led them to a clearing with a small hut on it. She told them she had resided a bit north of this place and she will go there now. She did not wish to get involved with these people, for she has heard negative things about them. After she left they went in and scouted clearing, but nobody was there. This puzzled them. Clarence thought then clarified ‘This is why Bart came to Castellos lot the other day. I wonder if he found where his brother Butch went, with our group?’
… Clarence met Jordan who stated, ‘Maybe I was right? we should have followed Bart to his brothers, but I hesitated for envisioned following one who does not have many brains. This may have led us further in the wrong direction.’ ‘Yes if you say so,’ commented Clarence. ‘The problem now is, what to do next?’ Phil upon hearing the conversation from kitchen came over and talked with Jordan. ‘Well Sir, you know I have a sixth sense sometimes.’ ‘Yes’ answered Jordan, ‘and what is it saying to you.’ ‘Well Sir, as I said before to another of this group, I feel they are somewhere where there are buildings and comfort. Crooks would not work a caper as this when they are starving and have no place to hop to. Don’t you think?’ Clarence agreed ‘Yes I think so, but where?’ Phil explained, ‘I remember a long time back, when we first came here, we had to cross a river. I remember seeing clearings on that side of river, but most were eager to cross to forested areas so could hide if need be. I propose we go to other side of river and scout there. Even if nothing is there, we will know and can claim that land, if villains have not.’ Opus quipped, ‘Yes maybe I will be king in this land?’
… Jordan turned quickly to Opus and called, ‘Hey, I thought you forwent that dream you had?’ Opus wrinkled his brow saying, ‘No sir, it is on my mind often, though I do not speak of thus.’ Clarence asked, ‘Do you have much training in leadership.’ ‘Yes’ replied Opus. ‘In university I took what I felt would help me in thus.’ ‘Well,’ uttered Jordan, ‘Do you think we are on right track?’ Opus answered ‘It would not hurt to explore the lands available to us in our region.’ Len agreed and was off to the watering hole. Jordan agreed, ‘Yes OK people, we will find a snack and travel again.’ As this was going on, Randy was inside the small hut resting and did not know what was happening.
… So some foraged in forest near and others took snacks from food storage, of which there was only a bit. When Randy came out, he was told to go to storage and have something to eat, for they would be off on another journey shortly after. It was early morning still and the river is not far away. All were in agreement and proceeded as planned.

Chapter Six … Rescuing Rescuers.

Adventures Across The River.
… The cab took them to across the river to near some clearings. They told the cab to wait for 10 min. as our gang walked about and came upon this clearing with a huge home. They stood there in awe at the vastness and the beauty of yard and brick fencing. Flowering vines covered the windows and flowering trees and plants covered yard. It even had a small pond in one corner.
… As discussing this at front, they saw a fellow come out of home. They quickly ducked behind brick wall that surrounded lot, and Jordan whispered. ‘Who is that?’ Clarence answered ‘I do not know, but he is in armor and probably a guard to Chico. Shall we call him?’ ‘Yes’ agreed Jordan. ‘We can take him back to Castellos.’ Randy uttered, ‘But that is only one? There are several we need to get and where are Fifi and the rest of Castello’s group?’ Clarence replied ‘Yes we know there is more to do, but the cab is still here and we can take this one with no problem.’ Phil announced ‘I’ll tell cab to wait,’ and he hurried off in that direction. As Bull came out onto main path, Jordan turned away from him, heading back passing Randy saying, ‘Tell him to come sit with us, for we are lost and need direction.’ Clarence stood watching Randy and Jordan as Bull came out, passed fence and neared them. Bull passed Randy first who asked, ‘Can you help us, we are lost…? But Opus who was sitting on the bench outside fencing, called him saying, ‘Young man, can you come here and talk to me? We are in trouble and do not know what to do.’ Jordan was shushing Opus to be quiet as he was standing beside him by bench. Clarence was just standing aside watching what was going on. His manner has always been watching silently ready to step in when needed. Bull was very cooperative and went right over, passed Clarence and sat beside Opus, who went on talking of computers and directions into town. Clarence was going to go on others side of Bull and as he passed Randy, Randy announced, ‘I will follow you.’
… When all were in position, although nobody talked of this, Opus commanded as getting up. ‘We have you now sir,’ and Randy with Clarence, grabbed Bull and gagged him with a piece of cloth Clarence just got out of his pocket. They carted him off down the path to where the cab was waiting. In their minds they were heading back to Castello’s place to lock him in the logs there. It was quite simple, but they knew they had to return later to get another.
… Then as they were walking up side of lot, they saw another come out of back door. They took Bull’s knife and whip as Bull squirmed and tried to scream, but could not. Jordan shoved Bull around corner, more out of sight, as Clarence and Randy went to confront this other one in back of home. It was Bruno, a bigger tougher guy. But Clarence gagged him while Randy tripped him to ground. They stood on his back while Clarence got Bruno’s whip and knife. They were not gentle but this Bruno was very muscular and all precautions were taken. After roping Bruno up, at knifepoint, they took both hostages back to Castello’s lot. They had gone a block down the road and Bruno struggled and got free. It was a close call and just for a moment, but Randy ran in to be the third one guarding him. Bull was much more placid and Clarence made sure rope was tight about hands. Bull felt helpless and could only watch as Bruno did get free for a second or two. This just kept our gang on their toes and let them know to watch Bruno that much more.
… When they got to cab, the cab driver was upset. He said, ‘There are too many people to fit in the cab.’ But they all piled into the 4 door Rambler. Two of them sat on Bruno and Bull’s laps, for they were only seats left. Driver would not let anyone in front. These guys were all too nasty for him. Even after Clarence telling him it was OK, he still did not trust them. Its good thing for our gang, that Steelys do not own transit system like Mullers did. (Story 3)

… As they went back to other side of river by only bridge there, Clarence commented, ‘This is all very good but we still do not know if Castellos are under Steely’s roof?’ Phil answered ‘I do!’ Jordan sitting beside him asked, ‘How? Your 6th sense?’ ‘No’ replied Phil, ‘My eyes!’ ‘Oh…’ uttered Opus? ‘Yes I saw her looking out the many windows. You people were all around me so I couldn’t let her know. But we will go back and save them… right?’ ‘Definitely’ chimed Jordan, ‘As soon as we get these fellows locked up and rest ourselves, we will go back. But this time we must be extra careful, for they will know we are on to them.’ All agreed and they went to Castello’s lot to deliver their goods. They will even feed the two villains, for that will put them in better moods.

Jailing Bull and Bruno.
… When they got to Castello’s old lot, they marched Bull and Bruno to log enclosure in back. The two of them hesitated twice but knew they were surrounded with people who had their knives and whips. So they went on in hopes they would escape somehow. A few minutes later they got near forest edge and Bull tried to swing at Opus with his arms. He got a tongue lashing from Opus while Randy grabbed him from behind and pushed him to the ground. As this was happening, Bruno went behind Jordan close and whispered, ‘I can kill you with one blow!’ Bruno was raising his tied arms and Jordan stepped away as Clarence whipped Bruno from behind. Suddenly from the other group, Bull ran very fast so all our gang ran also.
(Clarence has quite a stride when he runs. Nothing like I’ve ever seen! Ha-Ha-Ha.) This put Clarence out front of rest, for he did not wish Bull to go beyond logs into forest. It was a close call and they surrounded him and logged him up.
… Bull sort of looks relieved to be in the logs. I think he was kind of scared, for our group was acting without restraint. They know what revenging people can do. They closed the log enclosure with several other logs and secured it well. But what they did not know is Bruno, the tougher hostage, was not there.
… Randy suddenly turned to Opus and uttered, ‘We had two prisoners!’ ‘Oh’… uttered Opus, as they quickly turned and saw Bruno two yards away. But what was totally strange was that Bruno was not trying to escape? Clarence and Jordan had him under control through their minds. But all ran to Bruno just the same. Now Bruno knew he did not have a hope of escaping, especially with hands tied. He also knew that, when other people found him, they might do more than just throw him to the ground. Besides, those whips hurt.
… As our gang ran back towards Bruno, they were puzzled for they noticed he was just standing there. They got him into log fortress without a problem. Opus and Randy went in and untied their hands and gave them food before coming out and locking up. When Randy and Opus had left, Bruno peeked through logs and saw Clarence near him, looking into log enclosure. Bruno pleaded, ‘Please Sir, we have orders from higher up you know!’ Clarence looked sternly at him and replied… ‘So do I!’
… As our people came away from log enclosure, Jordan spoke to Clarence asking about food. Clarence looked upset? Randy and Opus were looking on. Clarence answered ‘No, we must get Bart and Butch, here as well. There is no time, for they may have seen us on their lot. Besides, all people have a bit of ESP and it sneaks into ones consciousness without knowing. I would rather get this capture done and over with. We must call cab again to take us to Butch and Bart’s.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Jordan, ‘I am sorry…Of Course….’ Randy was near and thought, What gives with this? Is Clarence head of Jordan or other way around?

Adventures To B-Brothers.
… As our group got nearer Butch and Bart’s home, Opus is saying, ‘If they want to stay on opposite side of river from us, it may be a good idea. Keep the ruffians out of common persons way.’ Clarence disagreed saying, ‘But that is where common persons get seeds and the likes.’ ‘Yes’ replied Randy, ‘but we can remedy that.’ Randy was anxious to intervene into house but Jordan announced ‘Fellows, we have work to do before planning a tomorrow.’
… (Clarence and Jordan seem to be fighting for lead here. What is the story? I guess we will soon find out. They may be right hand to a Queen but these people must remember that Opus here is a King. Or is he?)
… As our gang was about to enter yard, the B-Brothers were in the back, talking. Suddenly they stopped and turned. To their surprise there was Clarence and Opus. ‘What!’ squawked Bart, ‘I did not know you knew where we were, Clarence?’ Clarence answered ‘Well, I did not know till now, but now I see you.’ As our 5 crowded into back yard, Bart and Butch knew they were out numbered. They were kind of surprised, when suddenly a lady hollered from inside shack. ‘Breakfast is ready guys.’ Opus whispered quietly to Clarence. ‘There is a lady here?’ Randy announced to Phil, ‘I’m going in to see what’s for breakfast, I am starved.’ Butch and Bart did not seem to stop them? Then as Randy was about to enter home Jordan went instead. Elly was alarmed and asked ‘Who are you?’ Jordan said quietly, ‘I have come to offer you help, if you wish? The two men you are with are headed for custody.’ ‘Oh’ uttered Elly. ‘Well they took me in and I keep house for them. They are actually my brothers.’ Jordan replied, ‘Well it is up to you.’ Elly answered ‘Well sir, I will stay here for now. I have done nothing wrong.’ (In actuality, she had done nothing wrong. She helped the Queen a bit and toed her line sort of, but was not a threat to anyone.) Suddenly Jordan took breakfast and was going to put it in the garbage. What is he doing! As Jordan did this, Elly went out back and announced, ‘There will be no food for anyone, for after I spent the last half hour making a good meal, your friend here has just trashed breakfast!’ Butch and Bart both uttered ‘What?’ Clarence decided to keep out of way, while Randy whispered quietly to Bart, ‘I will ask him why and make more.’
… In the next scene, we see Randy inside speaking closely to Jordan in a quiet manner. ‘Why did you trash breakfast Sir?’ Jordan answered, ‘Its a trap, we better get out of here at once. You and Opus grab Bart and take weapons from him. I will grab Butch along with Clarence, but first, I see a phone and must phone for cab before it is to late. Hurry then, but do not let on for 2-3 minutes. When cab comes to front we will act fast. Be friendly for now.’ ‘OK’ agreed Randy, ‘At least they haven’t the muscles Bruno does.’ ‘Yes, now go!’ As Jordan called cab the guys outside kept Butch and Bart talking. All Butch or Bart had to do was holler or jester to guards in the forest all around, that there was trouble, and our gang would have been had. Jordan could see some of these guards and Clarence felt something was not right. They had spoken quietly about this before entering yard. They did not wish anyone to act strangely till right time, for that quick escape. As they told Bart and Butch to follow them to front they talked and joked. They wanted it to look as a friendly group so guards would not get suspicious. From front of yard, they headed to the left down main path for they saw something and asked Butch’s advice on what it was. They got to near the cab and forcibly got Bart and Butch into cab along with themselves. But again no room and some had to sit on laps. Of course it was Butch and Bart’s. With hands and feet tied they could not move for sure.
… Jordan stayed behind just for a minute and told Elly to take it easy. ‘If you change your mind you can contact us and stay with a family on suburb side.’ ‘No’ spoke Elly. ‘This is fine, I like being alone. People tend not to like me, I’m not sure why? I will make this my home and maybe someone will like me,’ ‘OK,” and off Jordan went to meet others near car. Jordan upon leaving Elly saw another guard and quickly caught up with group. He stopped just long enough to see cab and exclaimed, ‘There is our car, come let’s go.’ They surrounded Butch and Bart and were off in good time.

Jailing Butch and Bart.
… When they went back to Castello’s lot they put Butch and Bart into log enclosure, but when they first got to Castellos, they heard hollers for help from Bruno and Bull. They had little troubles with Butch and Bart but realized, they had to keep everyone quiet, and have a guard stationed there at all times. Upon getting to the log enclosure Bart spoke badly to Jordan and Jordan turned and spoke to Clarence of situation. Clarence commanded, ‘Bart, get in there now!’ With that Clarence pushed him in so hard that he ran into Bruno who punched Bart to ground.
… Now things were in a state of chaos, for our gang had been away for over 24 hours. Their captives were very hungry and they had messed themselves to boot. Jordan spoke to Clarence saying, ‘We have to do something else here. This is not going to work.’ ‘OK’ replied Clarence, ‘What do you figure we should do?’ Phil spoke saying, ‘If you wish, build a proper room like a jail with washroom and sorts.’ ‘Exactly the deal!’ agreed Randy. ‘If we are going to have these men work for us and help us build this area up. They need to eat and keep clean but also sleep well for strength.’
…As they penned up all 4 they chatted among themselves of plans. Clarence spoke up again saying, ‘Our trap worked again but there is still another, the leader to be exact. We must go back to the big house, for Chico is still there. The word of our presence will be out for sure, so let’s gather up more men for reinforcements.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Jordan. ‘I know that there are many guards about. We need to leave some here to guard these 4 while we are gone. It will only be a day. Randy and Opus, could you please stay and get these men breakfast tomorrow morning?’ Opus by face, did not like that. Then Randy agreed with ‘Well, if you leave us with knives and whips, Yes I will stay the night.’ ‘Good man’ answered Clarence. ‘You will be rewarded.’ Opus uttered ‘With what, more work?’ Opus is out of sorts and might be hungry right now, but it had been very trying. So, at this old lot of Castellos, they will leave guards Opus and Randy along with 4 prisoners of Bart, Butch, Bruno and Bull. Are these all B-Brothers? When they get Castellos from Chico’s lot they will be much relieved.

On To Chico’s.
… After picking up more men, they arrived in due time to where Castellos are captives. In this scene Mick had arms about Jordan’s waist and is whispering something in his ear. What? Phil is very near and said ‘Mick, Just take a leap! He is a busy man at this point. Wait till all is clear.’ Jordan did not give a good response and stepped towards Clarence. Mick then spoke to Phil saying, ‘Yeah maybe you were right, sorry.’ Mick had whispered something about ladies taking over and he asked Jordan if he could be lead for him in future. Well, Jordan knows Mick is an independent person but not many brains as in handling people. When Jordan stepped nearer Clarence, Len was behind them and Jordan turned towards Len and said, ‘You will be lead of your area.’ Len looked puzzled and quietly smiled. Jordan knew he was a good leader. Leaders are quiet unless it is appropriate to speak. They are observant and have more control than average persons. We will see which way things flow. Jordan turned and glanced towards the home they were going into and asked, ‘Phil will you do the Honors?’ Phil looked at him and asked, ‘Again! Well if you wish Sir,’ and off he went to look in a window.’
… As Phil went near front entrance he could see a guy in leather, walking away from entrance inside. Phil ducked and went to side of home. There was again a guard. There was another one outside that room! He turned and could see our group watching him. He motioned them to stay back but before he could get back to them, guards had surrounded them. It was a trap! Mick cringed when the guards came running out to surround them. All Mick could do, was watch Phil come towards them in shock. Phil did not make a beeline toward them though. He snuck about and was on the corner path, when he decided to run for it. So the guards surrounding the others did not do a thing to Phil. It was as if they only saw the group, and did not think anyone else was involved. Or maybe they did not see Phil? Sometimes Phil has magical things happen to him. Well you can imagine the shock of our people. They were all taken inside the huge home and locked in a room. Meanwhile Phil kept going, and flagged a cab down as he went. He also felt that the Castellos were not in this huge house but could not tell the gang.
… As we leave this place to follow Phil, we see Phil about to go out of sight. But also there was a guard watching him from outside the room Clarence and our group were jailed in. Later our group also got the feeling that the Castellos were not here, but they know Phil had escaped so felt a bit of hope. Phil was beside himself. It took him a few hours to gather up courage to carry on. He did much praying for needed much guidance. Being a quiet secretive man, this was becoming all too much for him.

Chapter Seven … Rescuing Rescuers.

Beth and Troy.
…Back in Station City, Beth and Troy have known of this expedition and have been monitoring area by request. They then got a call for help. They made preparations and have just arrived. After wandering a bit they found no great progress. Here they have stopped among these fruit trees near a large pond. They took a drink from pond after sifting it through cloth. The guards will collect some fruit for dinner, while they rest among the wilderness about them. These guards will also stand guard this first night.

Phil’s Rescue Team.
… Phil had wandered many miles and came to a lot with crops. As gathering food for another trip, he thought of the people that were just caught and felt sorry. Then he realized that others had left some people on their lots. He felt his only chance was, to gather who he could, regardless of who they were. Then they could storm Chico’s place and maybe some would get away, hopefully.
… After a long trip and picking up Nelly from his old lot, they walked for miles over rocky and often steep terrain. Nelly is a strong person but she was getting sore feet. She stands here near Phil saying, ‘How much further is this place we are going to?’ Phil, wiping mosquitoes off his arms explained, ‘After these thick forested areas is another clearing and there we will meet others.’ ‘Oh really!’ answered Nelly, ‘I am getting starved. We already finished our food and there is only half a pop bottle of water left.’ ‘Yes I know,‘ uttered Phil, ‘please do not remind me! Come, let’s get out of here, the mosquitos are killing me.’ ‘Gladly’ agreed Nelly, ‘I I think we should get to some water and cool our skin.’ So off they went for a few more miles following the sun and Phil’s intuition. They went for another day sleeping at night in bushes or tall grasses. They then came to a clearing and Nelly shrieked, ‘Look! There is water!’ They both ran, for it was very hot and with all the hiking, they were thirsting unto dizzy.
… They found a big pond with ducks and rushes about. ‘Oh thank God,’ praised Nelly. ‘Can we sit for a bit?’ ‘If you wish’ spoke Phil. ‘You sit and I will hop over and pick some of those apples off that tree there. We will take some with us as well.’ ‘Oh, can we have one now, please?’ Phil picked three apples off a branch right near him and walked them back to Nelly. She took them like precious gems, then sat on edge of water so rushes shaded her from sun. Phil picked about 10 more and went to join her. They had a secure feeling, for rushes were all about and they were out of sight from anyone happening by. They spent the rest of day there and even spent the night in the grasses near. Phil had a feeling that their destination was just a few minutes away, so they relaxed and had a good rest. Besides, his feet were hurting and Nelly’s feet were red and blistered, seen through her sandal straps, which were about to break off. Phil had a chance to think things through. He knew the more people he got to come, the more secure they would be. He told Nelly, ‘I must remember to ask the Abbot group for more shoes.’ Nelly uttered in much relief, ‘Yes Please.’

Beth and Troy.
… After a restful night Beth standing by Troy commented, ‘Well we should go on, now that we have rested.’ ‘Yes, we must find someone to tell us of the last 8 months here.’ Beth interrupted with, ‘More like 10 months dear.’ ‘Well, we do have to find out why there has been no progress. We did better in Dim Town (Story Two),’ queried Troy, ‘do you remember Beth?’ ‘Yes, I do! This is what puzzles me too. But in Dim Town the market people were very helpful in getting materials, remember?’ Beth went on with, maybe here market does not help or maybe can’t help?’ Troy agreed ‘OK let’s go.’ He called to guards near and asked, ‘Stay close, we are traveling again. This way please.’
… They walked along a dirt path and Beth saw a white paper on ground tucked in among the dandelions. ‘Oh’ she blurted, ‘It looks like a local flyer.’ She stepped off path as a guard stepped further for protection from forest area. Beth announced ‘Yes it’s a flyer, we may find info here?’ ‘Good’ agreed Troy, ‘read it aloud.’ She stated ‘Oh, there is a furniture place! … But it is in next town.’ ‘But wait! … Market is also sponsoring an area near them with chairs and tables. The people here should have shopped with little difficulty? But troy… we went by a lot that had people but there were only 2 chairs and they were not that good? … Why?’ ‘I don’t know?’ answered Troy. ‘Read on please.’ Then she read on of other happenings and came to another heading. She announced here we are.’ ‘Yes’ asked Troy. ‘There is an ad for Guards.’ Troy spoke, ‘It may be a trap. There are lots of guards about as you know, but they are not of our groups. I do not wish to get caught now, for we have only started here.’ ‘Well’ uttered Beth, ‘we could wait and rest for this day, then go to this address. It may be where the help call, came from.’ ‘Yes, this could be so.’ agreed Troy.
… As Beth and her company rested among the grass near the pond, the guards brought two chairs for Beth and Troy to rest on. ‘Good thinking, thank you sir. That is nice of you. There is a log over there, and if you bring it closer, 4 of your men can rest also.’ ‘Good’ answered guard Tom. ‘Thanks.’

Phil’s Team to Abbots.
… Bell was talking to Angela about harvest while Debby went to gather food from forest edge. Dell was standing near and exclaimed ‘Gees, Look who is coming. Its Phil!’ Bell stopped talking and looked up as Angela got up and hollered ‘Hi Phil, what news have you got us?’
… Phil and Bell talked of happier times and Phil announced, ‘I have come, with not good news. I need to take you and Angela with me. Dell do you wish to come?’ Dell did not know. ‘Will there be fighting?’ ‘Maybe’ replied Phil. ‘They have knives and whips but we have our own.’ ‘Oh No!’ replied Dell. He being a hippie only wants peace with no confrontations. ‘OK’ Phil commanded, ‘You stay with Debby and protect her. Where did she hop to?’ Dell replied, ‘She has gone to get mushrooms for dinner. We are tired of greens all the time. When are we going to build a home and have civilized food?’ ‘Well Dell, I don’t know, but you should be thankful you are not captured as Castellos and Clarence’s groups have been.’ Phil went on with, ‘For all I know they may be hanging them up on some dungeon wall. This is why I must take some people and find them.’ Dell spoke quickly, ‘Oh…I will stay and protect Debby, OK?’ ‘As you wish Dell,’ quipped Phil. He turned his attention to Bell and Angela and asked them to get good shoes on and lend some to Nelly. After 5 minutes they returned from sleeping area and gave shoes to Nelly. They were a bit too big but better than what she had. They all went to garden and picked some food for themselves to take with them. They did not have bug spray for used it all on roaches. So off they went in this late afternoon. As they went through scattered trees into and before forested area, Nelly noticed another tree like one Phil got apples from before. She called to him and asked, ‘Is this tree the same kind as before?’ When he got there he exclaimed, ‘Oh what luck! Dessert for all.’
… They stopped for 10 minutes to settle themselves to have an apple or two. But in a while Phil heard another man’s voice and looked to his left … and there was Dell. ‘Oh, what are you doing here?’ Dell replied ‘Gees, Debby did not wish me to be there. She is in a bad mood lately. She told me to go Sir!’ ‘Right’… acknowledged Phil. ‘Well Come-on, have an apple before we leave into woods.’ Phil handed Dell an apple and asked ‘Have you got good shoes on?’ As he glanced to Dells feet he saw worker boots. ‘Oh that is excellent’ uttered Phil, ‘Those are better than my runners here.’ Shortly after that they made tracks to go, but Dell felt they had enough as a group so hid out in wooded area. Dell will probably wind his way home again?
… Next morn as they started out, the way was much better so they did go to Buttles and pick up Melda. She was very happy, to come. They spent another night at Buttles and had a good sleep in sleeping chairs. After that bit all went out to find the captives. There were some frightening times, for they saw guards wandering about. They ran into deep woods for safety. All kept up for they had good shoes on, but they hid much and slept in bushes. Phil would spend time in meditation trying to know where to go next. It was getting cool for autumn months were upon them. This is better than hot summer sun, they had a month or so ago.
… Phil is beginning to give up for they are lost of any trail. They were so lost that they came across Dell again. ‘Can I help?’ ‘Well’ said Phil, ‘I …Phil was in lead, and at back Bell and Dell had an argument. Phil turned and was angry. He exclaimed aloud, ‘We will not have fighting amongst us, You Hear Me!’ Poor Phil was frustrated and about to give up the hunt. Angela questioned, ‘My word Sir, why don’t we just sit still and watch who goes by? Then follow them.’ ‘Well’ agreed Phil, ‘We have nothing else to do. It will give us more rest.’

Chapter Eight … Rescuing Rescuers.

Beth and Troy.
… In another area, as Beth and Company rested they sat quietly listening to the birds and the wind blowing through grass and trees near. Then Troy heard something more humanly. ‘Listen.’ he said quietly, ‘Now what is that?’ He sat up and there was a lady walking the main path few yards away. She had a mettle stick and was hitting it with a spoon. Then Beth sat up hearing Troy say, ‘I will go talk to this lady. Come guard Don, stay with me please.’
… The two walked slowly to the path so not to frighten this lady away. They stood near path but had relaxed, for the lady coming in plain purple top and washed-out jeans, did not look a threat at all. Troy went up to her but she stopped short, for was nervous seeing these two strangers coming. She was ready to flee.
… As they slowly came closer, she noted these royal looking people with long robes on. She also saw a lady behind them in a beautiful long purple dress with Princes-Ann sleeves. She noted that the dress was stained. They have been wandering in the wilderness, obviously. As they came up to her she relaxed and felt, maybe they would help her find Fifi’s group. Troy consoled her, ‘It is all right dear, we are looking for the people that live in this area. Do you know them?’ Debby answered ‘Right, now most are captured by kidnappers and I am not sure where that is in this great wilderness. A group of our people went to rescue them but got caught as well. There is no word yet but we know that one got away. He has been to my lot and gathered more of us to save them all. She looked down and announced, ‘If they are captured also, there is no hope for this town. In dismay she uttered ‘What a conundrum.’ Beth spoke up and asked, ‘Could you take us to your lot and we will gather who we can to intervene.‘ ‘Sure but I am only one there! We will go to another lot I know of.’ Debby looked at them again and asked, ‘Are you prepared to travel like that? Your good clothes will be ruined very quickly, in this untamed wilderness of forests and swamps.’ ‘Thanks for your concern’ replied Beth. ‘I have several dresses in a suitcase and we are used to roughing it a bit.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Troy, ‘Lives are more important at this point.’ ‘OK‘ uttered Debby. ‘I will take you around this way for I know an area that has fruit trees. We can rest there after we travel for a few hours. It is quite a hike to the lot I want to take you to.’ ‘OK’ agreed Beth, ‘lead on.’
… So they wound their way through some thick forests with Beth’s guards on either side. As they traveled they talked and got to know each other. After a day they asked Debby, ‘Why were you so far away from home?’ Debby explained, ‘I was anxious and tired of staying on my empty clearing. After all, my teammates had gone to help. They did not wish me to come but the one who did stay, left shortly after the others left. I’m not sure why? I felt I had to do something. So I’m trying to find more people incase the second group of rescuers get caught as well. The wind is getting chilly and it is better to keep moving to keep warm.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Beth, ‘But it is not wise to travel alone in wilderness. There are many perils that could befall you.’ ‘Oh I’m not afraid.’ replied Debby. ‘My people are giving up hope for this land though. But Beth, you will be surprised! Lisa guarding the lot we are going to, I believe she knows you from past.’ ‘Oh’ expounded Beth, ‘Lisa Bing?’ Debby answered ‘I’m not sure, we go by our group names and hers is Buttles. That is what I know her by. Mine is Abbots.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Beth, ‘it gives people an out if they don’t wish to be known to the real world. So dear’ asked Beth, ‘how much further is this place? I am getting tired and thirsty.’ ‘Yeah it’s just over these hills here.’ ‘Oh good’ agreed Troy, ‘we are not dressed for hiking. We thought this place would have modernized by now. What happened that there are no shelters here?’ ‘Well’ answered Debby, ‘It was a great conundrum to us all. When the towns who offered jobs did not really wish us to work there, I think they held back with building materials as well? I did see some, but very expensive.’ ‘On top of that, the jobs these towns did offer were small and pay was poor. Work was sometimes sporadic, and with lumber the price it is, we had to spend much time getting money for food and meager furnishings, if available. I know it would sure be nice to have a shower and a good bed to rest in, but at this point there is no hope for that. Maybe a year from now?’ ‘Oh-No.’ replied Troy, ‘We will see to that. You people have endured enough hardships.’ ‘Yes’ answered Debby. ‘The clearing we are going to of Buttles, did get some lumber but no time to build. I’m not sure what happened there! I do know it was Len who bought lumber, but must still be on lot?’
… Beth asked. ‘Why would they buy lumber and not make use of it?’ Debby replied ‘Well they had differences there of leadership, but I think it was more a timing factor. They had to go help Castellos. It was the very people on my lot, who turned bad and caught the Castellos group.’ ‘Oh’ uttered Troy, ‘What are their names?’ ‘Butch and Bart Abbot?’ ‘Right’ answered Beth. ‘This is what happened to Clarence!’ Debby spoke with amazement, ‘You know Clarence?’ ‘Yes, he was one of our team sent to help and monitor the progress here.’ ‘Yeah?’ questioned Debby, ‘He was one of the first rescuers but they got caught.’ Debby went on with, ‘I don’t know, but I wish to stop talking now. My head is going around. We have been feeling bewildered by the circumstances here. Roughing it in wilderness is bad enough but I think we will stop for a while.’ ‘Sure’ answered Troy. He called the guards and they took a break.

Back to Phil.
… So these are our people in Phil’s rescue team. Melda and Nelly who were not taught in defense and Dell, Well … Dell is a left over from hippie era. So Phil and the two guards Bell and Angela are the working team here.
… It was a little rough at start for most of these people did not know each other. By Angela’s advice, they went and sat among the grasses at front of this clearing along the main path, waiting for someone to come. Then they will follow them to their lot for more people. Phil told the ladies to sit among the trees in grasses there and it was done. They waited and waited till it was night and most slept a bit.
… Next morning they watched this delivery-person go by and leave a parcel. They decided to open it and found all sorts of stuff. Phil commented, ‘We can sell this stuff for info, if you wish.’ ‘That’s a pink Elephant,’ quipped Nelly. ‘But only if someone comes by?’ The ladies stayed hidden while the two guys stood out front waiting for a sale.

Lost Pal.
… Later that day they met a small child delivering the local paper. Dell thought to ask for info. Paperboy explained, ‘I deliver news for free. If you have questions look in paper. I have to go now, but there is someone else coming.’ Dell and Phil looked about quickly and saw one coming, all right!
… Before paperboy left Bell went right near Phil and uttered, ‘Holy-Moly, This guy I saw, when Castello’s were being captured. Watch out!’ Well, this fellow walked up to Phil and asked, ‘You have water? I very thirsty.’ Phil said, ‘If you wish, there is a lake just near here Sir, but who are you?’ ‘Name Fed, best friend missing.’ Phil asked, ‘Who is your best friend?’ Fed uttered ‘Gor. We in woods, others came, we ran different ways. Is looking for him 2 days. Always in hat, You seen him?’
…The Guy seemed a bit delirious or something. Phil asked, ‘Bell can you take a jaunt down to the lake and get him some water.’ ‘Sure’ answered Bell and off she went about 20-min walk. Phil instructed Fed ‘Come Sir, let us sit in grass among the trees here. It is cooler.’ ‘Thanks Sir.’ and they all sat. Phil wanted to find out who this guy was to others about. He asked, ‘Do you work in other towns.’ ‘Yes’ answered Fed, ‘but fired. I not do job I guess? Bosses very strict, things uptight. Have people bunch, not to have, troubles to keep them.’ ‘Topsy-turvy!’ uttered Phil. Fed agreed ‘Yeah, I mess up…. My buddy much older than me… and… I must care him more than bosses you know!’ Phil said, ‘If we help you find your buddy will you show us where all these people are?’ ‘Well’ questioned Fed, ‘You strangers. You turn me, friend in?’ Phil explained, ‘These people you talk of are our friends. Do you know the names of these prisoners?’ ‘Oh Yes,’ chimed Fed. ‘I watch them one night and I not good enough, some got out. But guards got them. One is Queen!’ Phil smiled and uttered, ‘Queen Fifi?’ Fed looked with eyes wide open. ‘You know?’ ‘Yes’ agreed Phil, ‘she is the queen of our expedition. We are hoping to rescue them all.’ ‘Oh’ uttered Fed. ‘Will not be easy!’ He then went off into, ‘Where you get red vest, yours? I love red. See shoes, made for me, I ask red.’ ‘Who did you ask, spoke Dell, Your Boss?’ ‘Oh No, Ha-Ha. Boss not care what wear! Is before boss corral us to guard people. Boss all very rich with much land. Live other towns, ransack Here towns, getting much, …if they make use! If not, they hung!’
… Suddenly the mood changed for our group. Phil quietly spoke in anguish, ‘Were they going to hang our group?’ ‘Oh’ uttered Fed, ‘I not know? They not tell us much, you know.’ Now, Phil started pleading with Fed. ‘Please can you help us?’ Fed thought, ‘Well since given eats and place relaxed. And you in trouble, you help me my pal, I help you your pal. But, not get got again!’ ‘This is great!’ replied Dell. He looked at Phil and commented, ‘Maybe we can also give you and your pal a lot of land to live on in peace?’ Phil smiled saying, ‘Yes and we will help you build upon that land as well.’ Fed was full of smiles as agreeing, ‘It a deal. I lead you to place, but run if someone. I know where many guards, help you. ‘Really’ uttered Nelly. Phil upon looking about, saw Bell bring water so asked ‘Fed, How would you like, this piece of land as your own?’ Oh… good Sir. I thank you.’ ‘OK’ spoke Phil, ‘come lets go now, bring the water.’
… They all packed up and went. Along the way Fed suggested ‘Come, me meet guards I say.’ They went to an area where there was an old shack and many guards. But their uniforms were gray and very dirty. These guards were not in good health either. Phil asked Fed, ‘Who do they work for?’ Fed answered ‘Same as I, but only job, so stuck here. They started to go in another direction to get away from these guards and Fed continued with, ‘We captives if live here, we work for boss, hold your people. They own much towns. They big group. Wish luck. I help find but not me, caught. Phil thanked him very much and stated ‘We will go in a while. Right now I must think.’ ‘OK ‘ agreed Fed. They settled themselves in a clearing as they watched Phil disappear into more woods. Phil went off into the deeper woods and sat for a long time. He was calling for help.

Beth’s Group.
… As Debby rested on this large log Troy and Beth went off a bit scouting area. They had their own conversations of what to do next. When they got back to Debby she felt much better and continued to lead them all to Buttles clearing.
… As they walked onto Buttles lot, they walked by garden first. Beth commented, ‘This is not much of a garden, many plants have died and it is so overgrown.’ Well’ uttered Debby, ‘Most survived on what crops they could grow but growth was sometimes feeble.’ Troy asked ‘Why did they let garden go?’ Debby went on with ‘Well, their leader Jess passed on and for many weeks they were fighting with no guidance. Len tried, but it was not the same. Len wished lead from start but in the end Melda claimed lead.’ Beth asked ‘Is he still leading?’ Debby explained, ‘Len was going to leave this lot but then heard of kidnapping and that changed everything. I do not know much more.’ As they stood silent for a minute Beth could see they had progressed a bit with fridge and chairs about. She also felt the aura of clearing and the grief for Jess. As they stood there, the sun came out and it was warm and comforting. Then Debby saw Lisa. ‘Look Beth, there is Lisa. Come I will introduce you.’ Troy stayed by garden while guards stayed on main path. They could see whole clearing and felt there was no threat.
…Debby took Beth to meet Lisa and she did remember her. ‘How are you Lisa? Lisa uttered ‘Oh thank God you found helpers Debby, thank you!’ She answered Beth with, ‘Yes I was your guard when you were leading an area back about 3-4 years ago.’ Beth smiled saying ‘I meet many people but I do remember now, upon seeing you dear.’ As Beth stood there she could smell something but was not sure what it was. Skunk? (ha-ha) ‘You wait told Beth. We will get all cleaned up and have modern furnishings. We will have much lumber available to all, and will help build your homes.’ Lisa had tears in her eyes and exclaimed ‘That’s Golden, I need to shower and get out of this clearing. I’m so sick of this place! Could I work for you again?’ ‘We will see’ replied Beth, ‘But this place needs protecting and you know of this area, much more than I.’ ‘Yes, but I cannot deal with this place, I am starved and so… tired right now. My best friend here has died and I wish to forget about this journey.’ ‘Well, we will get cleaned up and you can come with us to help search for your friends under custody.’ ‘Oh, that is golden’ spoke Lisa. ‘I’m ready!’ With tears running down Lisa’s face, they gave each other a hug. Beth asked, ‘Are you in good health?’ ‘Oh yes, I am not in pain, I am just … so happy at this point. I know when I get squared about I will laugh at some of the things that happened in this place. It was sure a change for me. I have grown much, I can feel that upon seeing you again.’ ‘Good.’ uttered Beth. ‘So we are really going to save the captured people?’ asked Lisa. ‘Of course!’ agreed Beth. ‘That is why we are here.’ ‘So we really will be able to get civilized here? You will help us?’ ‘Yes Lisa,’ answered Debby, ‘we have been planning as we traveled. Beth has many guards and they outnumber the others.’ Lisa uttered with alarm, ‘Oh but there are many about. I saw more in red yesterday. It makes me nervous so I keep going, and stay out of sight. Oh Beth, I am so thankful you came to help. I will help in any way I can, just say the word.’ ‘Sure dear,’ agreed Beth, ‘Stick with me and we will work together.’
… Debby went towards kitchen area and thought, I should feed these people something, but what? Then she heard a man say, ‘I found crops ready to eat.’ It was Troy back from their garden, and here he comes… loaded with fresh veggies. As he passed Lisa and Beth, Lisa praised, ‘Oh thank you for harvesting for me. I have been dazed and depressed last week or so. Thanks so very much.’ As Troy went to kitchen area, Debby had a big smile. It is amazing what a little gesture can do in times of need. Debby quipped, ‘You must have read my mind? I was just standing here wondering what to feed you people, and here you are! And you have enough for all, thanks!’ They went on talking as they prepared food. It was a joyous occasion all around. The Royal guards in blue were able to contact others of their troop, so many benefited by this lot. Troy then asked, ‘Do you have any idea where the area is we need to go?’ Debby answered ‘Yes, I know where Castellos lot is but I think Phil said, the Castellos were not there now? I’m sorry for vague info, it is hard when it involves miles in all directions.’ ‘Yes that is OK,’ commented Troy. We will find them!’
…Troy kept glancing about to see where Beth was, but she was with her guards and Lisa. Then Troy asked, ‘Is there another area where we can get help?’ Debby queried, ‘I think there is a lady or two left on Duels lot, I’m not sure, but we should go there as well.’ ‘OK’ spoke Troy, ‘We will eat and rest then tomorrow you take us to this other lot, please?’ ‘Sure’ agreed Debby. Before they settled to rest and snack, Troy spoke to Tom Guard to be prepared.

… Early the next morning they all followed Debby to Duels. Along the way they had to go over rocky terrain. It was hard work and they stopped often. Many times Beth’s guards were there to aid them up a cliff or to lift them up to another guard. Debby had not been this way before but knew it was a short cut. She apologized many times for the trials they were having. It got so bad that they would just laugh when they saw another steep cliff. Well the long robes were torn in places but they went on. They actually ran into Judy Buttles, who had remedies for their scrapes.
… Judy was delighted to see them, but you know Judy. When asked to come help she said, ‘No, I am following my mission. I help many people here, even the guards about. From stomach cramps to ingrown toenails, there is an herb for all. I will be around though.’ She asked Beth ‘Will you see to it that this place carries on with progressing. I need a place as this to practice my medicines. It is free at this point for I know nobody has money, but I will try to help all.’ Beth and Troy thanked her for helping in this way. ‘You will have the first medical group here. Later we will send you a few people, OK?’ ‘Bread and Butter’ uttered Judy. ‘That sounds great. I could use help to get a shelter built.’ Lisa asked ‘Were do you live when not traveling?’ ‘Oh I have three places I go where the logs are close enough together that I can shelter myself from the heavy rains. But a shelter of wood and a dry chair to sit in is nice to imagine.’ Debby exclaimed ‘Oh My, I’m sure Beth will provide you with more.’ ‘Yes’ answered Beth. ‘Here is some money for now and later we will set you up with a shelter.’ Judy exclaimed ‘thank-you again, I must go now bye!’ And off she went into woods. She left them several potions for aches pains and scrapes.
… They did eventually get to Duels land and they wandered area for a bit but no one was there, just their belongings. They figure that Niles, Polla and Robyn were at work. They rested and applied potions from Judy, to their wounds. The sun was out and it was warmer with many chairs to sit in. ‘Duels must have just gotten more! This is Radical! I do not remember this many chairs here in my travels.’ shrieked Lisa.
… Beth is sitting near Troy saying, ‘I will leave Debby, Niles, Robyn and Polla here for they can work together and protect themselves.’ Then they wandered the lot and found many crops growing and several sleeping areas. Beth informed, ‘If they keep to wood edge they may be safer.’ Beth wants Lisa to come and be her helper. They have a friendship and always did get on well.
… When the three workers did get home, they stayed in cars while watching these strangers come towards them. The drivers were obliging, and did not force them out. But when Beth and Troy came up to window and smiled saying, ’We have come to help save your people.’ The three got out of cars so drivers could go. Then Niles saw Debby and Lisa. He remembered them from his walk-abouts of past. ‘Later after the Howdy-Doodys, Niles asked, ‘You will help us rescue our people?’ ‘Yes,’ answered Troy. Robyn asked, ‘How do you know about these people? In a Blue Moon! Do you work for the villains too?’ ‘No’ exclaimed Troy. ‘We heard a call for help and we have been trying to gather people to help us find your friends.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Beth, ‘We have many guards in blue and they are all around as we speak.’ Niles announced, ‘I was talking to Phil, the lead of the second rescue team, and the guards in gray often helped him but the ones in red are the villain’s Guards.’ ‘Yes’ agreed Beth, ‘but we have many more guards and all is OK.’ Troy spoke up asking, ‘May we partake of food before we go on?’ ‘Yes’ was the answer. So while Polla and Robyn went to get food for all, Troy and Beth asked Niles to come walk with them. As they walked about lot, they took Niles off to one corner and told him to care for the ladies. Beth commented, ‘We will not be too long away, for we have already captured their top guy.’ Troy informed, ‘The main leader of these villains was stationed back in Dim City. He was the son of a hero there. We had heard of Ed when a child but did not know he actually did become warped. Now he is in custody in Dim City, for a long time.’ ‘The other leaders here need attention. We just wish a guide from your team, to lead us about this land. Our guards are well trained and will do the rest.’ ‘Oh thank you.’ uttered Niles. ‘I’m sure glad I do not have to fight. I hate fighting! Someone may get hurt?’ ‘Yes’ smiled Troy, ‘But you must be strong. You being the only man here, we will put you in charge. Please take care of things while we are gone. We will return others soon, OK?’ ‘Yes, I still have my job and will bring in a bit of money, but we will survive, for we have done not too badly until the kidnapping.’ Niles went on with, ‘I knew it was a bad idea to try rescuing them ourselves. Phil should have called you people first thing.’ Beth exclaimed, ‘Well he did! It took us time to get here and arrange things but we told him to carry on. We did not feel it was too much of a threat, and it will not be. We have things in hand now. Lisa will come with us and the rest will stay here.’ Troy questioned ‘Maybe we should also leave a guard with them?’ ‘Yes ‘ agreed Beth, ‘that is a good idea. We will leave a top guard with you for extra protection. He will stand guard over lot till we come back. Bring him food when he wishes please.’ ‘Sure’ agreed Niles. Niles was relieved for he is not one to go into battle, or even wish to think of such things. He is quite the wimp you know. Very little backbone poor fellow!
…Here Troy is telling guard Don to go tell Daniel to stay and guard these people. Troy announced ‘We will leave from here in an hour, after rest and food.’

Chapter Nine … Rescuing Rescuers .

Phil’s Magic?.
… Phil had gone off into deeper woods to ask for help and guidance. Meanwhile Nelly was about to talk to Fed. She asked Fed to help them get food for another journey. He uttered ‘Yes, then find, my pal.’ Melda was unsure of all this arrangement and went to papergirl who had tagged along with her papers. ‘Hi dear, could you tell me if you know where our people are.’ ‘Well,’ said the child. ‘I deliver papers there as well, but I never go inside. It is not that far from here.’ ‘No’ spoke Melda. ‘How long would it take you to go there?’ ‘Oh it is about 3 hours away in that direction. It’s a big home with many people living there. Guards are all around. You need an army to get close to them.’
… Melda after talking to the child thought, we would need some one with magical powers. Then she remembered that Clarence had something along those lines. He was from Abbots lot. Melda went right over to Angela Abbot and asked, ‘is Clarence psychic or can he sent out a help message through the air?’ ‘Sure as shootin,’ uttered Angela. ‘Yes, he did speak of that once but nobody got that close to him for he is very secretive. But dear I think Phil is like that also, for he is off into trees to meditate. But I’m not sure what that is going to do for us?’ Melda explained ‘Sure it will help but I just had a thought. Before we sink into the deep, we need to send someone to other lands to get help.’ Angela replied with ‘But dear, our world is crumbling away now, that would take too long, These villains may be hanging our people as we speak.’ ‘Yes, I did not think of that horrible thought. Sorry.’ Fed was right behind Melda listening. He wants to know what the plans are so he can help to find his friend. Then he heard a man call his name. He turned and who do you think he saw? He turned and there was Gor his chum, best friend, the one he had been trying to find for days.
… Dell was the one who called Fed, but Dell suddenly did not feel good. If Fed’s friend is now found, will Fed still help us? Then Nelly, who was reading local paper turned and called ‘Hey people, there is an ad for guards needed in paper. The address is not that far from here.’ She went to Fed and asked, ‘Is this the address you were going to take us to?’ ‘Oh no’ uttered Fed, ‘They fired us, really. They looking for workers.’ He went over to Gor and asked ‘What we do for food or shelter?’ Bell came over and consoled, ‘Do not worry, we will keep our promise to you. A lot will be yours if we get our people back.’ Then all went on chatting to the buddy and amongst themselves. Some went and found food among trees, and by the time Phil came back, there was a real party happening. The old man Gor, had a big flask of whisky in his shirt. Being old he has aches and pains and with his bosses having been just as hard on him as others, he needed his painkiller. But with all this merriment he took his bottle out and all, even Phil had a sip.
… When Phil had come back into crowd, Nelly talked to him of travel. She asked, ‘Are you ready now Sir.’ ‘Oh yes’ replied Phil. I have contacted others who will be here as soon, as is possible. They told me to carry on with plans.’ ‘Really!’ queried Nelly. Contacted who?’ ‘Oh, you will see.’ Phil went over to Fed and commented, ‘We will be going by a piece of land that you can have. I believe there is already a small building on it. You do not need to come with us, you have been a big help sir.’ ‘No, I will lead as I said.’ ‘No’ stated Phil. ‘Your friend should not be hiking in his condition. You two need to rest. I feel you have been through enough.’ ‘Oh Yes’ uttered Fed. ‘It be nice to rest.’ ‘OK’ agreed Phil. ‘It is done, We will drop you off on a lot of your own. We will visit soon when we have saved our people.’ Phil turned to the others and announced, ‘OK people it is time to travel. Do you have food and drink with you?’ All cheered and on they went.

Beth and Troy Travelling.
… They wound their way to Bonzo’s place in suburbs. After last trip it was a breeze with flat land, but some swamps and many mosquitoes. Lisa made up more spray with special ingredients from plants. This helped them much. They conversed with their guards often and when they got to Bonzo’s place in suburbs, they were successful in capturing Bonzo and his guards. He was the ringleader here, so it was a good catch.
… Later guards sent Bonzo with his two guards, back to Station State. After, Beth and group searched the home and found Castellos in the cellar. They talked to them before entering, so when the door was opened Castellos poured out in tears and smiles. They fed them a bit, while the two teams made plans to storm Chico’s giant home, on city side of river. There they hope Clarence’s rescue team would be. There were many conversations at Bonzo’s place to catch up and compare notes. As Castellos and Beth’s team talked, they drank and ate what food was there. With all the talk of Chico’s place, Lisa thought, where is Phil at this time? They tossed that back and forth but did not know? If you remember, Chico’s lot is where Phil had escaped capture. Lisa then spoke to rest of what she knew of Phil’s group, as Castello’s team listened intently. Lisa said, ‘Phil the escapee, had gathered a group and were on their way to the very place we are heading, also to rescue Clearance’s rescue team. If we do not go there now, he may beat us to it! We must be swift and true.’ There were some smiles. Lisa went on with, ‘Phil came to my lot and asked Angela and Melda to go with him. Later they returned for Mick. So I was only one left on our Buttles lot.’ Fifi spoke up saying, ‘We will rescue your people dear. I’m sure it is planned for.’ ‘Yes, that’s Golden.’ uttered Lisa.
… Next day all ate then our two teams left Bonzo’s place to follow Beth and Troy. In time and with not many mishaps, Beth’s team approached Chico’s huge home in town area. As Beth, Troy and Lisa stayed back in woods Beth’s guards spread out and viewed area.

Phil’s Team – The poisoning?.
… After they had traveled for many hours, some thought they were going in circles. After taking Fed and Gor to their new lot, they came across a structured tree area. Phil is on edge, so when Angela gasped Phil ran to front of group. Nelly beside her did not see what Angela saw through the trees. It was a huge convoy of guards. When Phil saw this he instructed, ‘Come lets go this way, quietly please.’
… This group of guards was neatly dressed in blue. Our people did not wish to tarry any longer for did not know whom these guards were working for. They traveled for another hour and saw a huge home. ‘Well’ uttered Phil, ‘its about time! Now is this the place?’ They stayed out of sight for a time and waited for a sign. Night came and they hid in trees and took turns napping. When morning broke they heard dogs barking and they saw some sloppy dressed guards in gray. ‘This must be the place,’ chimed Bell. ‘So what do we do now?’ Phil was about to answer when a guard in clean uniform, as the ones they saw a few hours back, grabbed one in the old uniforms and shot him with poison or something? For he dropped to the ground?

… The guard then dragged him into woods very near were our group was,
but they felt it was Ok. Then they saw three more well dressed guards do the same with other sloppy guards, all about this huge home and land. Phil stated, ‘I believe our dreams have come true!’ Dell asked, ‘What do you mean?’ Phil smiled with, ‘I asked for help from a far off city and I believe they are here.’ Melda questioned, ‘So what do we do?’ Phil commented, ‘Just wait a bit and see if they conquer the rest. Being early morn, the people inside may not be up yet.’ Our gang was too far from home to see inside but if these well-dressed, well-trained guards took all the bad guards, they may venture to speak to one of them.

Beth Not Far Behind.
… Beth’s guards found another troop of guards in red, a mile or so away. These guards seemed to have other guards under their rule but they seemed to be slaves in dirty gray uniforms and were unhealthy looking. Beth’s guards in blue outnumbered all. So they were able to lock them up in the very buildings they were stationed at. They soon had all under control.
… When all guards were in right places, heard through whistles and the likes, Beth and Troy used energy from trees to help them put the multitude of guards under a peaceful spell. This made it easy for Beth’s guards to go up behind them and give them a shot of sleeping potion, which would have them out for 12 hours or more. The task was done in swift time and later when all were tied up, most of Chico’s guards were taken to Station State under supervision. As Lisa and Beth followed the guys into yard of Chico’s home, they saw Chico and his immediate guards being put to sleep and carried out to woods along with the others. When all was clear, they searched Chico’s huge home, then heard Clarence and team in basement jail. Once Clarence’s team realized who was approaching, there were many cheers and whistles. They were taken up into living area and sat on couches there. Lisa and Beth went to kitchen to prepare food for all. Chico must have loved food, for there was enough for an army. Duck turkey lamb beef and chicken. Many kinds of veggies including some they did not know of. An exotic collection of food was served to all.
…Bit later Clarence saw someone out back near pool and asked Lisa, ‘Who is that?’ She exclaimed, with excitement in her voice. ‘Oh Radical, that is Phil! The one who was getting a rescue team together to rescue the rescuers! … You people!’ Clarence watched, as two ladies in guard uniforms came in back door. As they passed they smiled and said, ‘The capture is complete?’ Clarence smiled and nodded his head as he went out back followed by Lisa.

Phil’s Rescue Team.
… Prior to this, Phil’s team watched the guards being taken away with poison and when the guards were gone they went near the huge home. As Phil had done before, he snuck to look in a window and there he saw Fifi smiling at him. He ran back to others and said, ‘Yes! This is the place. Castello’s group is within. The guards may be within as well.’ ‘For goodness sake’ uttered Bell, ‘we should do the same.’ ‘If you think so’ queried Phil, ‘but I am not trained in physical fighting.’ ‘No, but Angela and I are.’ Phil remembered the girls were in guard uniforms. He resigned saying ‘Well if you wish to go, you may.’
… As Phil was standing guard for the others of his group, he ventured nearer home again and saw a huge pool. So beautiful and clean, He wished he owned it, so to take a swim in that instant. But then, someone was coming. He ducked and started to run towards trees where others were, but a voice said, ‘Do not be afraid Phil.’ Phil stopped, then turned, and who was coming out of building but Clarence! Phil exclaimed ‘Oh, you are free?’ Clarence praised ‘Thank you for coming to our rescue and thank you ever so much for calling the right people here. I owe you my life. Please come in, all is under control.’
… Then Clarence gave a tour to the ladies Bell and Angela with Mick following. Clarence went around side where pool was and pointed out where Chico’s people were imprisoned. Mick did not wish to see so glanced and turned away. They were in a room well fenced in. Clarence commented not to worry, ‘We will be taking them to station state soon. If you folks wish, you might as well stay the night.’ ‘Oh that is great!’ uttered Mick.
… Jordan came to backyard and Phil thanked him for getting Chico and his ruthless guards. Then he asked, ‘Where is Queen Fifi? Clarence smiled, ‘The two queens I believe are in front. They are safe among our guards now. Come, I will take you to them. You should meet Queen Beth and King Troy. They are well known in these lands. This is not the first time they have saved a city from extinction.’
…After a minute Clarence and Jordan ushered several around to front of this huge home and called Troy. Phil was standing there listening to Troy and Clarence. Queen Beth was telling one of the guards a few yards away, not to worry for these people are good friends. Guard Tom told Beth that Bart and Butch with the other two brothers, were taken by surprise and are under guards as well. Queen Beth uttered, ‘I do not know how to thank you. Your team does such a good job. You go in and enjoy a good meal, please. Lots of food being served inside.’ Beth could see Troy and Clarence talking and she felt Clarence was very grateful they intervened.
… In a bit all had gone in except Queen Beth and Phil who were still talking. But there was Troy like old times, standing guard over Queen Beth. These two are older now, but still stately as King and Queen. They now own most of land rights in our story land. Always, when one is in a high station the lower ones try to undo things. This seems to be a trend that is hard to beat. But Troy and Beth thrive in this station or they would not be there.
… Inside we can see a guard and Girth making food. He wondered where Fifi was. He spoke to the guard and they talked of Dim Town named after Queen Dim (Story 2) back before Troy was a king, and where Blondie and Rath had a child called Beth. As time went on Queen Beth and her trainee Polla Ounce had gravitated to War Town, (Story 3) making good feasts for the parties there.
… Now on the upper floor of this mansion, the Castellos were plenty fed and some had retired to the many bedrooms for a long nap in the comfy beds. ‘What a haven,’ uttered Fifi as she sank into a large recliner. Girth was right there in the one beside her. Hilda announced, ‘I’m going to find a shower!’ Then Jill agreed, ‘So am I.’ Harold saw a bedroom and spoke saying, ‘See you in 12 hours.’ He found a Do Not DISTURB sign and tacked it to door.
And we did find Fifi. She and one of Beth’s guards were watching TV in another large room. The second round, all went to eat shortly after that.

Ending ….
… Later Jordan talked to all, of the beginnings in Station State and questions were answered. That is when Beth, Troy and Jordan could get on with the proceedings of offering rewards for bravery and the likes.

The proceedings went as thus;
…In large kitchen dining area they all gathered about huge table and Queen Fifi spoke to Clarence. ‘Who should we get to carve the turkey?’ Clarence looked at her with a twinkle in his eye. Then announced, ‘It should be the guest of honor, Phil Duels!’ Phil looked shocked. ‘Oh No, I am not worthy of that people.’ Girth uttered ‘Nonsense. You are the one who followed through. You are the one who telepathically called for help. You are the one who, us so called Worthy Ones, had to rely upon to get us out of a jam, Right?’ ‘Well…’ Then Phil bowed his head and was silent. Girth standing beside him announced ‘Come on, I will help. Our captives did not feed us much so we are all starving.’ ‘Oh I also’ agreed Phil. ‘I have done much more walking than normal lately.’ They all laughed and got on with eating.
… Queen Fifi and Girth were whistling and cheering Phil on, as he did carve the bird for them all. Beth clapped her hands along with Clarence while the two guards stood on guard with smiles.
Phil had tears in his eyes. He being a quiet man was on the spot but felt so good that he had all this recognition. But he was the one that came through for them all. When the going got tough he gathered the people and he led the people and here we are. There were many more there from the lots and groups that represented the owners of this new land. Beth and Troy will see to that.
… As most were eating Beth and Troy spoke to Phil and Clarence. Troy announced ‘Phil, for your bravery Beth and I will bestow a gift upon you and Clarence, who was also very brave in this endeavor. We would like to give you the rights to this home you are in.’ Clarence was silent and Phil dropped his fork and stared at them. Beth asked ‘Is that OK?’ The room was silent and although Queen Fifi was not present at that moment, Girth would certainly tell her of this important event. Beth could see another Kingly figure in Phil. He has guts and he is also leader material. Lose the glasses and punk hair-do and with a proper uniform, and you would see a very different guy. On the other hand, Clarence reminds them of Clarence Niting of Dim City (Story 2), who also visited War Town (Story 3). Clarence Abbot is shyer and not as strong but still genuine and good. Some training would change him as well. Now Girth was standing behind them but Beth and Troy knew he was a fine specimen also. Queen Fifi had a good guard and loyal friend in him.
… After a bit of silence Phil questioned ‘Thank you! Why are you doing this?’ Troy explained, ‘Well this place is up for grabs and we would prefer your team get it rather than Chico’s. We cannot stay here for our home is in Station City. You are the logical ones to take over … Although you can appoint anyone you wish, to help.’
Beth agreed ‘Yes, you are the boss here.’ ‘Oh thank you Beth.’ Clarence chimed in with ‘Yes Beth and Troy, we do thank you.’ Clarence being the silent type was already thinking of what could be done here.
… Now Beth and Troy knew that In the next room was Queen Fifi and one of Guards who was singing. Fifi was dancing with an invisible partner celebrating their freedom. So back at dining table Beth announced ‘Yes and Clarence!’ …Clarence was about to take a dirty plate away from table but stopped short, just as Girth was about to sit near him. ‘Yes Clarence’ replied Troy. ‘We are going to steel Fifi and Girth away from you for a year or two.’ Girth looking puzzled uttered ‘You are?’ ‘Yes’ answered Beth. ‘We wish to train the two of you as a team for this area. Is that OK?’ ‘Gee’ uttered Girth, ‘I don’t know what to say? You will have to talk to Fifi.’
… Just then Fifi entered the room and Beth went up behind her and whispered something. Fifi responded by asking Girth, ‘What is happening here?’ Girth explained, ‘They want to take us away and train us to be a team for this area.’ ‘Oh?’ questioned Fifi. ‘Training in what?’ Troy diplomatically explained, ‘We will take you to Station City and give you the best training we can. We know you know much in leading for we have heard of you before. But to get training from Station City means that you know what is going on, in a larger area. It will help you both to rule this land.’ ‘But’ uttered Girth, ‘I thought this land belonged to a higher person.’ Beth uttered ‘Yes it did, but not too good a person.’ Fifi agreed ‘Yes, Bonzo and company, or something like that.’ ‘Yes dear‘ spoke Beth. ‘We have taken all over here and you are welcome to come for training and run this whole area for your people.’
… Clarence who had been sitting silent all this time said, ‘Oh yes Fifi. That is an honor. You really will be our queen then! But there is already a King among us.’ Fifi questioned ‘There is?’ ‘Yes, Opus!’ Fifi uttered, ‘My Saints, I do not believe I have met this Opus. I should meet this fellow.’ Phil spoke up saying, ‘I left Opus with Randy and others, to guard the B-Brothers in log enclosure a few days back.’ Beth agreed, ‘Yes thank you Phil, my guards have taken care of them. Beth turned to Fifi and continued, ‘First you get some training with us, OK? Then you can carry on life here.’ ‘Yeah, I am ready when do we go.’ There were smiles all around.
… After a minute some left including Fifi, it was too much for her. Troy and Beth were still in kitchen and Troy went to Clarence. ‘You keep these groups in order while your Queen and Girth are away. Would you do that for us?’ ‘Oh sure I will Sir.’ ‘Beth and I know you can handle this. Follow through with Opus and build a home on each lot that is inhabited.’ ‘Yes,’ was the reply. Beth agreed, ‘Yes and we will leave you 500 thousand to help.’ Clarence turned with a wonderful look and uttered, ‘Oh thank God! We can become civilized now.’ ‘Yes ‘ smiled Troy. ‘We will leave in next few days when we hear that all are contained. Beth then announced, ‘I got info saying Butch Bart Bruno and Bull along with Bonzo Chico and their guards, are all getting a secure reunion with many official guards, with a long trip of sight seeing, to a far off land. They will not be back here!’ Beth went on with, ‘The true leader of these areas was stationed in Dim City and has been jailed along with the rest.’
… Beth reassured all, that the villains would not be a problem. She got onto better topics. All were to do their part in protecting and progressing, to make this area a thriving city. Troy went on with ‘Clarence, here is a phone number and address of where we are in Station City. You ask your courier to give any mail to Cross-Country Services. They will hand deliver it to us, so you can make sure it will reach us.’ Clarence smiled and tucked it away in a pocket of that red vest he always wore. Troy went on with, ‘We will visit the places of transit and market, so to help them and this town grow. It is getting late now. We need to rest before we make a long journey to Station City. Thank you ever so much for your support.’ Then Troy and Beth agreed, ‘Take care of this place. We will vacate this home in a day or two so you and Phil, who is in charge here, can do as wish. OK?’ ‘Yes sure’ repeated Clarence, ‘and thank you much, both.’
… Then Randy and Opus just arriving. Clarence introduced them to Beth and Troy and spoke of how Opus and Randy were of great help in putting Bruno and Bull in the log enclosure. ‘I could not have done that without them.’ Opus and Randy were silent for they did not know what was going on with all these people here. Troy commented ‘Well Clarence, you could have these two work for Phil and yourself. If they work well with you, your town will run smoother. You talk to Phil, and pick the people you feel will be of most benefit with the progression of this valley.’ ‘Sure’ agreed Clarence, ‘and thank you.’ He turned and ushered Randy and Opus to food tables, quietly informing them of what happened. He put his cab calling on hold till the next day.

Wrapping up.
… Now, Chico’s house was overflowing with guards, food and tired people. They spend a better part of two days feasting and resting. In living area, while others were listening to music and dancing about in fun, Clarence and Troy were sitting on couch. They were quietly chatting and looking at pictures on TV. Everyone was very happy and at peace.
… In next day or so, they slowly returned to their designated areas, so Beth, Troy and Jordan could get rested before their trip. And as was told, house was vacated on the third day.
But before Beth and Troy left, it had been arranged by Fifi and Girth, that Butch and Bart and some of their lesser guards in gray, would stay and be put to work in farming this new land. Queen Beth left two of her well-trained guards to train them in keeping farmland. This was another small gift left to Clarence and Phil to help them on their way.
… Their queen Fifi and advisor Girth would be away in learnings in Station City for a year or two, then will return to be guiding lights to all. So this town’s council of Phil and Clarence will now start building in earnest. Good Luck guys.
